He was at Calypso's again, sitting in a booth with an eye on the door. A slice of pie sat in front of him, along with a half a cup of caf. Next to the cup was a letter with his name on it, still unopened.

It hadn't been the right time, but he'd opened the box. He could have put it all away, but that felt like a step back. That was why Jaxom wasn't hiding in some hole in the lower city. He wanted to move forward. To do that, he needed to know what his father had intended for him.

He took a bite of pie and opened the letter.
