Doesn't Varina have a girlfriend now?
Or is her sexuality a bit of a moving target?
It's complicated, both for her sexuality and girlfriend. I didn't even think about romance for her (she was 16 at conception!) but then this game crawled along and I thought, "Wait, teens think about this sort of thing. I was a teen once!" I kind of hammed up her contemplations a good amount, coupled with how I felt like I'd be confused in a galaxy with so many, well, options.
At the end of the day, it seems like Varina is attracted to all sorts of humans and adjacent types. On the romantic angle, she's really difficult... like even worse than being her friend!

Sister!
Did you as the player Varina would find her mommy in this game? I wasn't sure if it was the reason for your reprisal?
How it started seems vastly different from how it's going, judging from the beginning of the game and what Varina managed to do/discover in that short time!
I actually discussed with our dear Head GM that I wanted her to hunt for her mom. Her post-game goal from the prior game was to reunite with dad and try to find mom. Thus, her pursuit to have a family.
In a way, I think I subjected myself to Varina's hope of unifying them! It did not turn out that way and I think that's actually more realistic for a mom who left in the first place. Dramatically, I think that disappointment combined with her limb-loss will make for a more mature Varina for a reprisal. In that case, I'd hope I could make her still prickly and prone to violence without lashing out, if that makes sense.
Of and one more thought: I didn't go to the Crater because it seemed like the intuitive choice, like TOO intuitive. Plus Varina wanted her mom to be doing something a bit nobler than raiding all the time. Besides, it also would have been extremely awkward if her mom had been aligned with Carid. All in all, definitely some avoidance there and nobody in their right mind would tell her that.

Varina No-Labels, Stealer of Cookies!
Like I said in Korvin's, I really appreciated just how hard Varina committed to teenagerdom. She's been fun to watch, and interact with.
Thank you for letting me threadbomb you and Manny.
What was the biggest shift for Varina this game? She kind of had a lot of them.
Varina is definitely the type who disregarded boundaries and conventions...
I do think I got into the groove of it! It helped having people who already knew her and enjoyed her company, even if it is prickly. The threadbomb, of course, made it all the better!
Part of my regret this game is that Varina's arc sometimes got shifted into overdrive because big events would happen and I hadn't been active around them... but I still wanted her to change. Ah, well, games are meant to be enjoyed, not work. Back to your question, I'd say she's more tolerant of other people's choices. She did, after all, want to beat up her mom at the start. Now, she's still kind of sour about it, but she's willing to move past it. Another example would be executing the Mandos in the Ketsu fight, a disagreement that made her similar to Dex.
