[D8 MM] The Mighty Beast

Sol's search had led him to rumors about a creature in the swamp, one that sounded like the creatures from Kamda. The residents weren't exactly thrilled at the idea of someone hunting it but they had given him the knowledge of how to set up a trap and how to bait it.

Of course, that stuff was not his specialty, so he had reached out for help from a few were more in tune with nature.

Zim was hardly a ranger herself... but Sol had mentioned this, and she wouldn't refrain from offering help to a friend. So there she was, walking besides the Gank again, wondering what it was that they would meet - and trying to figure out in her mind how to deal with this 'beast' without killing it...

Aanli joined the expedition, curious about this beast. Though sadly this was probably going to be another ecologically disruptive expedition.

"Good morning, everyone. One matter before we begin, Mr. Tan. I am glad the goal is not to harm the creature, this will probably require surgery to extract the mark. Even minor surgery will require some amount of recovery time. Unless someone is able to take care of the beast until it can recover, it may die during recovery. Are you prepared for that?"

"Thank you for coming doctor. I appreciate you coming today" Sol nods at the Twi'lek. L

"Honestly, I hope it doesn't come to that. If the creature is indeed around here and we can track its food source, I hope that I could find a crystal cache without issue. If not"

As an answer, Sol opens his bag and retrieves a set of vetinary tools, anesthesia, bacta and stimpacks. "We should be able to affect quick recovery and I hope to see it healed before I leave"

"Then we shall see what lies ahead." Hopefully, this expedition will be at least slightly less eventful than the last one.

"Oh I do my best to keep things peaceful and issue free. That just... Just never seems to happen. That's why I brought friends who, ya know, don't"

Zim was happy to see all the precautions Sol took to keep the beast alive and well, although the doctor's comments raised some concerns to her.

"The crystal... I had initially thought of it as guarded by the creature. Do you believe it may be... part of it? Or... somehow important enough for this creature that removing it might be crippling?"

She hadn't considered the possibility that the creature itself needed the crystal. Hopefully that would not be the case. If it was... maybe there was a lesson to be learned here?

Within the swamp, much flora and fauna existed in their natural states. With the slight feeling of being watched all around by the various creatures which scurried along the floor.

"I... I don't know." Sol replies. "I suppose I'll come to that bridge as we find it. I don't know of any creature where having it is essential to life but I honestly don't know"

He turns to Dr. Ven, pulling out the electro snare. "I could use your help with this Doc. My own Bushcraft skills are middling"

When it's done, Sol opens himself up to the Force to meditate

The Mikkian nods to Sol, her expression somewhat serious, but peaceful. "Well... we'll find out", she says with a weak smile. Then, seeing Sol opening up, she tries to reach out to the surroundings as well...

As they meditated they would feel the vibrancy of life all around, with the underlying threat inherent within the nature of the more predacious species.

"The possibilities are... many. Kybers can be possessed of a certain measure of will and agency. A kyber deposit calling a creature to protect them would not be without precedent. Some creatures can grow kybers inside their own body, much like a pearl, and I've confirmed the necessary minerals are in this environment. If that's the case, then it may take surgery, but I've never heard of a creature for which that kyber is necessary. Of course, we're entering a realm where natural law is... negotiable."

But the time for discussion was clearly drawing to a close, as the others began meditating. But there was more than one way to meditate. Some block off their other senses to connect to the world solely through the Force. Aanli preferred to immerse herself in the sensation of her surroundings and the interconnectedness of all things through the living Force. One of these methods was, incidentally, useful for getting other work done at the same time.

While many of them meditated, there remains work to be done if they were eventually going to face the beast they sought.

[Who's setting up the Snare, who's setting up the lure?]

((May we ask what kind of rolls would be associated with that before we answer?))

[Survival for Lure, Easy for Solork with a Boost, Average for any other with his instruction.]
[Survival for the Snare, but I don't need a roll yet just need to know who's setting it up.]

((I can provide a boost to one of you folks. Sorry I can't do much more!

Actually thinking about it now - if Aanli helps me instead, we'd have her attribute 3 and my skill of 0, and I could upgrade it to 1, for YGG. Is that better than providing a Boost to Sol?))

Sol did his best at the lure but he isn't much of an outdoorsms

Solork takes about ten minutes settling up the lure, but luckily- he knows enough that when looking back over it the lure doesn't look like it's set quite right. Scent that's supposed to travel is being overwhelmed by others nearby.

With a bit more time he could always try looking for a better spot again.

Sol takes the time, attempting to find a better location.
