Dr. Ven was spending a lovely morning in the biology department with the university's newest high profile dubiously acquired specimen. Specifically, the GI samples from a dead rathtar living in the deep swamp.

Though given the revelation that the deep swamp is a dark vergence in the Force, that makes what she's looking for... a little stranger. Gonna have to keep two sets of books on this one; the conventional testing, and the old Jedi tests.

((Wanna do tests on the rathtar sample. Some conventional, but also checking for magicky stuff, especially across the spectrum of the ecosystem. Like midichlorian count comparison between flora and fauna that ended up in the rathtar's belly, and rathtar flesh itself to see if there's, like, magic flowers or magic lizards in the food chain somewhere, or mineral indicators that could be associated with kyber deposits.))

The complexities of this sample were fascinating; some of the most sophisticated of her career. Shame even what little she could publish would be immediately classified by the Empire.

While the creature she came into contact with was incredibly vicious and rare, certainly a level of viciousness to which the life on this planet is known for, it wasn't the most familiar specimen. However, due to her large array of knowledge when it comes to the galaxies creatures she's able to identify enough markers to be able to detect the differences in what the species' dietary makeup is supposed to look like. What's most notable, and the main thing she's able to decipher from what she has, is that there are some very faint traces within the creatures makeup that might suggest a source of what the galaxy refers to as Kyber on this planet.

In what form that takes is impossible to tell from the disconnect this sample has from the source.
