[D4, MM, Old Garden Neighborhood] Reporting Home

Korvin had managed to have a quiet, responsible day the day before, so he wasn't too worried about the note to be sure to be home this morning. It was a common enough way to be scheduled for something by his parents, although it typically wasn't his mother's way. She had an almost alarming ability to just catch him at home when she wanted to, no matter the randomness of the time of day.

Korvin lifted a piece of fruit from a bowl on the counter between the kitchen and everyday dining room, wondering what would be added to his to-do list today.

Early in the morning as it was, Korvin's came out from one of the rooms fretting with one of her earrings. Seeing Korvin she smiled but it faded quickly as she walked over to him. Looking him over she fussed with his hair and patted his shoulders, "We have an important guest coming this morning. Get yourself ready, hmm?" she asked with a delicate smile and focused back on her son.

Korvin rolls his eyes. "Do I really need to be here?" he asks, although he knows what the answer will be and he's already headed to his room for nicer clothes. Oh well, he thinks. Looking nice for Dhel isn't a bad thing. She'll probably like it.

After a few minutes cleaning himself up, Korvin returns to the kitchen. He now has a slick-looking collared shirt on though untucked rebelliously, and a smile on his face from thinking about Dhel.

By the time he returns his mother is busying herself with getting things prepared for an incoming guest. However upon seeing Korvin return she walks over to him and neatens him up, tucking in his shirt and fussing with his hair again. Nearby at a standing mirror his father too is looking over his attire and making sure it looks appropriate.

They seem more busied than usual, certainly so if they've spoken little.

The exceptional preparation and attention to appearances really starts to unsettle Korvin, although he's not going to look uncool in front of his parents.

"Uh, so, who's coming over? You guys don't usually care whether I'm around for... important guests?" he says questioningly.

"An important new business associate of your fathers," his mother finishes fussing with his attire and moves off toward other preparations. Leaving the space open for his father, recently tugging his suit taut, to approach in her place instead. Looking to Korvin he appraised the image of his son for a moment and smiled.

"Tybalt, the current owner of the now Star Fire industries wishes to meet with you," he says.

"Wait, some business guy wants to meet with me?" Korvin says in disbelief. "Like, what... what possible interest could he have..." The young man's voice trailed off as a bewildered look took over his face.

He raised a hand to run through his hair -- nervous habit -- but stopped it in mid-air, before it could do anything to interfere with his mother's efforts.

"I mean, wha..." The bewildered look remains as his hands settle back at his sides.

Korvin's father looked down over his son, his face the imperceptible gaze of a stoic father, "The Future, Korvin," he said with a melancholy smile that was interrupted by the sound of an alert of a visitors arrival at the front door. Korvin's mother was quick to the door as she usually was, slipping just behind his father as the man took one look more at Korvin.

With a slap on his shoulder he turned to greet the guest.

Korvin slowly shook his head at the unhelpful answer, but he knew he wasn't getting anything else, even before this Tybalt person arrived.

Korvin took up his proper place, respectfully and quietly behind his parents. He took a deep breath, centering himself like he did before races. Three... two... he could almost hear in his head.

Taking up their own positions her parents were ready to great their guest. Which they did, with all the appropriate fare expected of a family of their standing. It was some minutes of niceties before they entered the home proper to find Korvin once more, and leaving his father to make the quick introductions.

Which gave way to Tybalt, a man not much older than Korvin but who walked with the gravitas that seemed to exceed that of even his father.

"So, you're Korvin?" he said on their first meeting, a smile that was almost a little too cocky. Dressed well, modern with a sleek, clean suit. Tybalt extended a hand to Korvin and waited with a strong grip. Eyes taking a good measure of him with that same self-assured smile.

"I am," the young Pantoran says calmly, offering a smile that's only about one step less cocky than Tybalt's. He shakes hands with the kind of grip it takes to hair-pin-180 a speeder bike at full throttle, reckoning anything less would be taken badly. "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Tybalt," he says politely. Rich kids prey on fear.

"Ohoh," she grins broadly, retrieving his hand from the solid grip. "Hell of a grip you've got," he measures Korvin again with a glance. "Don't tell me, hold on," he holds up his index, giving pause.

"You race don't you? You've got the look of it. Never raced much myself but I've bought a few nice speeders in my time," he said with that kind of cheer that seemed almost too genuine at first but settled differently based on interpretation.

He smiles and inclines his head, taking it as a compliment. "I do some racing. Just one bike though. Why, ah, have several bikes if you're not reading them," he asks, mildly curious but mostly making polite conversation.

"I like two types of things, things that are expensive and things that are dangerous," he says with a slight but wide grin. Sizing up Korvin again for a moment before Korvin's father interrupted with a slight, but not obtrusive clearing of his throat.

"Sanga, dear, why don't you see that we have some refreshments brought to us," he says, clasping his hands together and putting on a smile. Looking to his son, and then Tybalt, "Tybalt, here, has been looking to acquire our company for quite some time and.. negotiations have gotten to the point that we are now thinking about what that looks like, for the future," his father speaks, but there is that disconnect of stoicism which hides his true feelings on the matter.

"To business, like my father," he smiles with a sharpness as he looks to Dozay. Flexing his right hand a little, "Respectable," he says with a glance back toward Korvin, "Yes, SFI has been looking to expand our reach for quite some time. Your father's company seems like a good.. move, a partnership of sorts, one that would allow us to both profit and move toward future prospects with some strength," Tybalts voice took on a quality that a moment ago seemed unlike him, but the calm confidence with which he turned to business was near infectious.

"Oh, that's... exciting news," Korvin says, his surprise showing but accompanied by a smile. "I didn't realize that, ah, the company was moving in that direction. It's been very successful under my father's leadership," he notes honestly.

"Forgive some of my surprise, father," Korvin says, turning toward the man he almost universally calls dad instead of father. "This seems more like the sort of thing that Kerrsa would be involved in," he suggests calmly. With his face away from Tybalt, he raises a questioning eyebrow at Dozay.

"It is something she and I have spoken on a lot but-"

"But," Tybalt interrupted with that air of arrogance, "I really really wanted to meet you. Your sister and father have the business acumen but.." he glances to Dozay and offers the man a smile, "I also want someone young on the team, someone who might understand my vision in a more earnest way. Someone who might be a bit more like you," he gave a wave of his hand toward Korvin with that same arrogant smile.

"A face and a mind with the right vision and the proper support has changed the direction of my own company. My father was a brilliant man but the times- they are a changing," he chuckled briefly.

"So," Korvin says noncommittally, "what is this vision you want someone to help promote? Without too much 'business acumen' getting in the way," he jokes gently.
