Good News, Bad News (D6ME)

Well, the wife of the Chiss would need to be informed of her husband's passing. Especially if she was working in the same place as her husband was. Maybe that stabby guy would go to stab her, next?

And who better to talk to a Chiss than the Chiss that Manny knew? He'd invited Nara along to help things go more smoothly.

And he brought his blaster along in case they didn't.

Nara jogged up, already practicing her lines
“Gutted like a fish... hmm, no. Sliced open like a fillet? Maybe not.... turned into a colander? It’s certainly evocative.”

Ultimately she decided just winging it would work as she comes to a stop beside Manny and offers him a friendly shoulder bump

“It’s good of you to be doing this Manny. He was super lame and totally sucked but it was still uncool how he died.”

The apartment complex that you are heading to is actually looks fairly nice on the outside. Good district of the city, doesn't look as run down as some of the other areas of the middle city. Nothing too rich or fancy, just modest. When you finally start to head up, the elevator takes you to one of the higher floors of the building, giving a more clear view of the Middle City; it gives a larger feeling of calm, even though you know what the Empire has done to the city of late. The data provided by you from Jarvis shows that it a little bit of information. No real pressing delving details, just what anyone doing a rudimentary search of a person would find.

Likely just him doing some homework about the people involved.

The elevator stops and you are at a hallway. Doors on the left and the right. Time to make your way down it.

"Yeah, he was kinda a dick. But he was our dick." Manny frowned. That came out really wrong. "I mean, like, those Mandos shouldn't have stabbed him." Yeah, that was better.

"Do you ever feel like all hallways are pretty much the same?" Manny asked. "I mean, doors, two ends... maybe more of them should be round or something?" He started down the hallway.

“Right? It’s like they stabbed us in the dick. And then they were all rude about it. Every since the Mando plague has started more and more Mandalorian violence has flared up, don’t know how we’re gonna deal with it until it just gets cancelled I guess.”

Nara follows along down the hallway, nodding at Manny’s point.

“You’re preaching to the converted on the architecture. I’ve been arguing for non-euclidian hallways for ages. Change it up a bit.”

"Exactly! The dick! You get it." He raised his fist for a bump.

"Yeah, non-euclidian. That's the stuff." Manny nodded, smiling blankly. "So, hey, how's the place looking? You got a proper hideout there yet?"

His eyes moved as he counted door numbers.

Fist buuump
“It’s so good. Got all the essentials except for a full size snooker table, but I think that’ll come in by week end. You should come over one night and we can have a watch party!”

Nara pauses as they reach the appropriately numbered door.

As you all ponder life inside a Escher painting, the numbers do start go up, as they do when you walk down a hallway. Eventually, you reach the prescribed number. I'm sure there was a lot going on in your head. This was something you'd probably never think of having to do; telling someone you didn't know that their loved one was dead. Not always easy for some, though she was mostly a Chiss. Being able to handle emotions was sort of their culture.

Granted, your mileage with it may vary.

Manny figured Nara could handle it. Chiss probably had a word for 'sorry your husband got stabbed', right? It seemed like they had a lot of words.

Reaching out, Manny rang the door buzzer.

A young Chiss woman comes to the door a few moments after you buzz the door. She smiled at you all for a moment with a polite look. "Can I help you?" There was a small look of surprise to see a full Chiss there, but the surprise quickly faded and turned to more of a curious one instead.

"Ayyyyyy..." Manny greeted her with a solemn thumbs-up and finger gun combination. "How's it going? I'm Manny, and this is Nara. Ummm... sooo..." He cleared his throat. "We've got some news... can we come inside?"

He nudged Nara with his elbow encouragingly.

She stared at Manny for a good long moment as you spoke and your actions, gave a look at Nara. Then gave another look at Manny. Then another look at Nara.

"The hallway's fine."

"Yeah Manny, not everyone hates on euclidean hallways."
Turning to the Chiss woman

"M'am we're um, there's no easy way to say this but... ch'ithe'umi'aco veo cabp vizehn tun'isbeco. We were hired to save him but some Mandalorians were hired to kill him....and they did. We're sorry."

The woman gave you all a long look, then blinked a few times. "Ch'acan'b, Veo?" She stared longer, betraying little emotion as she looked at the two of you. "Come in, then." She opened the door to her apartment, allowing you all to enter. The apartment itself is fairly furnished inside, and there are several places to sit down at your leisure. The woman motions for you all to sit as she sits down herself, trying to process the news of what you just said.

"Please, run that by me again. You were hired to rescue him, but someone else hired to kill him? When did this happen?"

Nara jumps up in a chair

“Yesterday evening. Your husband was taken by the Gonks, or so we were told. So we were hired to rescue him, or so we were wold. And after we rescued him, so we told, some Mandalorians turned up and murdered him, so we saw.”

Looking away out a window
“He was a doctor, right? That’s nice... helping people.”

"Yeah, he was. What..." Noszewii voice broke for a moment while she cleared her throat. "What is with all this hesitancy of the day's events?" As she said the words, she leaned down in her chair, keeping her head low for a few moments. "Why would Mandalorians want to kill him? Wait. Of course, money." She stopped herself. "Do you know who hired them?"

"Bad Imperials!" Manny said. "Unless you don't like Imperials. In which case, regular Imperials."

He looked at her. "So why would they want to kill him? He was a doctor, right? Was he... doctoring people they don't like?" Manny was unaware that doctors could do different things.

“It’s all a bit unclear. Definitely a conspiracy of some kind, it probably goes all the way to the top.”

Noszewii doesn't say much to the commentary on the Imperials, but she nods to the statement. "Okay then. Suppose you wouldn't have more to go on than that, since it's only been a day. Well, to my knowledge, we only dealt with people in the clinic that were brought to us as needed. We just did the work we were told to do. Nothing really strange, I think, nor worth killing someone over."

She finally lifted her head up and looked at the two of them. "If you want, you are more than welcome to give a look over his office space. Maybe there's something there. He was a terrible liar, though." She says with a small chuckle and a smile before turning more neutral. "Yes, I'm sure my husband had personally upset the Emperor." She paused and looked at them.

"Sorry...I shouldn't be rude to you. You all clearly had good intentions yesterday."
