Tunnel Snakes Rule: Spectator Edition! [Day 7, MA]

It's not a lavish setup, but the Tunnel Snakes have provided some (questionably) comfortable seats for those interested in viewing the day's events. There is also a place to get a drink, as well as place some bets within the area. Several of the Tunnel Snakes are hanging out in there, as well as the riders are making their final preparations for the race itself.

You have some time before the excitement begins.

[Bets will be accepted until the last PC posts in that thread.]

(heading to work shortly, so won't be particularly active for a while, but feel free to come chat at Dhel)

Dhel's there. She's left the Cascader behind when learning that the race was happening in the Lower, and she's gone for something more practical to wear, with sturdy shorts and a crop top that began life as a full-size shirt. The logo of a local band "Rathtars in the Pasture" is sliced neatly in half on the light gray background. The fur all along her arms is poofed a bit, shivering along her wrists with excitement and perhaps nerves being down here, so far from her usual haunts.

Lassa didn’t know many people on this planet yet... but two of the ones she did know were really into this whole racing thing. She decided to use her lunch break to come and watch in case she ever met them again.

Korvin is predictably in the racer prep area, making sure Ruby looks beautiful and checking all of the things he's checked six times already. He's fully kitted out for this race, meaning looking thicker in the chest and shoulders than he typically does under his leather jacket, and his holster is strapped down tight but ready if he needs it. Not that bad things happen during races in the Lower City. Of course.

Tenzing made his way through the gathering crowd, looking for a good vantage point. The Lower City was always rough around the edges but his sturdy clothes gave off a ready-for-trouble vibe. He couldn't miss the kid's big day, and he still hadn't actually seen this 'Ruby'.

Dhel's there.
Concealing a smirk he walked over to the Bothan. "Well well Dhel, fancy seeing you here. Guess the kid was telling the truth. How's things?"

He looked out at the starting grid and threw Korvin a wave.

Clad in scavenged clone armor with a third arm, all in a red and black color scheme, SCaT directs the speeder bike out of its storage container and into the open air.

Soleene made an appearance when she heard that there was going to be an actual racing competition. She was sure to nudge her way through a few people unapologetically to get the best standing space. Even though she wasn't a racer or a gear head, these things were pretty exciting when the crowd was into it. She was fine with not losing her money and kept it on her. Betting your expectations and emotions was more than enough already.

The droid looks rather imposing now that it's... dressed up? for the occasion. But nothing's bringing Korvin down with Ruby ready to run and the sight of Dhel and Tens here in support. With a big, bright smile, Korvin waves to them.

Turning to SCaT, he says warmly, "I really appreciate you being here. A little support goes a long way, especially around a big production like this."

"From the rumors I hear, a lot of people chickened out. Something about some raiders attacking people who come to close to their territory. Be careful out there, the terrain won't be the only thing trying to kill you today."

Raven was no racer. Even her few attempts at a jetpack... no she very much preferred her feet on the ground. But she still appricated a good showing of guts and skills. Was also a mindless diversion from overthinking tonight's plans.

Nodding to Soleene, Raven's visor turned to scan over who was present.

Alas, she didn't really have any cash to spend on betting. Who knew feeding a group of Mandalorians could be such a drain on the funds.

Nelk walks into the bar with confidence and finds a seat at the bar with a good view of a monitor. She calls the barkeep over and asks for a tall glass of Airag, as well as ask to place a bet. "1,000 credits on Qar Offee to win it." She was hoping her little racer-boy friend would pull through and make her a nice little profit, but if he didn't at least she'd enjoy chastising him.

Korvin grunts, sounding slightly dismissive, but he nods in agreement and checks his holster for the umpteenth time today.

"Yeah, I know. This isn't the same as Middle City racing," he says in understatement. He looks around the racers again and confirms some familiar faces and some unknowns. Potential for a lot of money, a lot of reputation off a spectacle like this. "Or a lot of death," he mutters under his breath.

With a deep breath, he starts settling himself into his racing mindset. "Anything I need to remember about Ruby, now that you've given her a full check up? Racers dislike surprises, as you might guess." He grins.

Soleene would return the nod given to her by Raven and decided to approach her. It was maybe best to give some facade that this was a coordination appearance by the Mandalorians.

"Hey, sister. Do you have a choice pick for this event?" She asked as she stood beside her.

"No surprises. You took really good care of your bike, only thing I did was change the fluids and made sure there was no wear and tear. All that's left is for you to do your best. I'll be on standby if some asshole tears a hole in your engine, but I surely hope I don't have to worry about that."

Nara was there, inexplicably wearing a shirt with 'Team Blue!' across the front. The chiss wastes absolutely no time unfurling a banner which appears to be a stick figure representation of Korvin winning the race while all the other racers were collected in a huge burning pile.

"Wooooooooh! Kooooorvin! Gooooo Korvin! You're the only racer whose name I know so I'm barracking for you!"
Several small child are violently scattered by the huge piece of fabric as Nara makes her way next to Dhel, still shouting wildly.

"Clay, if he's racing, sister," she said with a smirk in her tone. It was only natural to show some solidarity. "I don't know much about the other racers anyway... some rich kid, I think, and someone I haven't met at all."

"Do you know who he's up against?"

Korvin can't help but chuckle at the level of personality in his droid friend.

"If there's a big hole in the engine, I'd be worried there's a big hole in me too!" He chuckles and shakes his head. "No, Ruby and I plan to keep each of us in regular working order, right girl?" He pats one handle bar gently.

Hearing a cheer raised in his name, Korvin turns to see his excitable friend Nara in the spectator area. Right next to Dhel.

"Oh. Kriff," he groans. "What have I done."

"Clay, huh...Should have been obvious." She said with a bit of curiosity as she looked around to spot Clay. It was a surprise to see him here but it shouldn't be, considering that he was very much a gearhead of sorts. However, she didn't know that he also took to racing too. "Well, I'm sure he's got something pretty mean whipped out for this race, even if I haven't picked his head all that much."

"You mean the Pantoran? I've only wandered into one of these here. I know there's a Mirialan who's been at this in several worlds. Even though I haven't watched one to completion, I'm going to take a guess that he's really good at this." She nodded.

"Clay's a weird one, but he's got a good head for machines and mechanics. I'm betting he's probably fine-tuned that bike of his," she said with some amusement, spotting their brother in the lineup now too.

"Yeah, the Pantoran. Only seen him around briefly though, so hey, my guess could be off. I'm not always the best person at gauging who people really are. But you think the Mirialan is competition?" The visor turned slightly in the direction there, to size up both the other competitors.
