Too close for comfort [D2 MM, Open]

After a first day sticking only to the relative comfort of the Middle City while trying to find out more about what is going on in this world, today Zim was ready for something different. Having read some of the history of Bellionas how the Lower city was mostly abandoned, but having also heard that there were in fact many who made do with what little they had underground, she made her way down, at the same time eager to meet those who were trying to carve a life despite their conditions... and feeling uncomfortable memories coming back now and then.
To be fair, her own conditions back in Bakura had probably never been as bad as this. But she knew well what it meant to be looked down upon for one's race and one's past, and having no credits to pay for treatment when disease came.
She walked through the streets, looking at the few lights coming out of the buildings and observing the faces she crossed, keeping her head tucked in her hood and her body fully covered by her robe.
Could she find anyone who looked like they could tell her more about the people here and their situation?

Having taken care of her breakfast situation, Tyllia wandered. There was much she felt inclined to think about, and she was rather used to be on the move while doing so. Preferred it at times, even.
Whether her feet had taken her down here on purpose, she did not know. Nor did she know whether that feeling of desperation that permeated the area came from simple observation of the living conditions her, something else entirely, or whether it was simply her own memories pouring out into the space around her. Either way, it seemed appropriate.
With her hood drawn down over her face, and nothing in the way of obvious signs of expensive weaponry or armour, she did not stand out much at first. Apart from the fact, perhaps, that her clothes were much cleaner than those of most people here. Watch a little closer though, and the feeling one might get was that she didn't belong. She didn't move like the others here. Didn't linger in the places they did. Did not interact with anyone. And did not seem broken the way so many others were down here.

There was another walking the streets, more imposing then everyone around him. A good number simply moved aside to give him a healthy degree of space while others looked at him with a degree curiosity. The man stopped here and there to ask questions about the ruins beyond, the gonks and other dangers.
Answers were rare

Perception vs Average with Setback due to lighting.
Or
Streetwise vs Average.
Perception would represent trying to find someone just by glancing around and looking for someone who stands out. While Streetwise would represent a characters ability to recognize this type of community isn't much different than many of the others they've wandered through, meaning they just had to ask in the right way.

Most folk around J-Richo were nervous with his passing, this was true of most folk down here but J-Richo was an armored individual whom they couldn't be certain of. Most folk were too busy trying to keep their heads down and either didn't have much to say or didn't want to say. Yet, there were still those that eventually gave him a bit of information. Gonks were a relatively new problem, almost as new as their being evicted down here into the lower city by the Empire. However, they were vicious sentient by his reckoning given their accounts but no one referred to them like they were sentients. Beyond that true and obvious danger there wasn't much most folk were able to tell him.
Perhaps, of course, there was someone out there who knew more but that would take a bit of asking around and asking right to find his way forward.
Streetwise vs average.

Zim tried to ask around for people who might be relevant, community leaders or otherwise, but had little success. Maybe it was her way of speaking that stood out too much, maybe they were only not particularly open to outsiders, but it seemed it would take more time to get the trust of those in that community...

Can I try the other approach since this one failed? Does that advantage somehow help?

He was not the best at talking...that never had been his job. Despite this he had survived all this time and the others who's job it was never stuck around for long.
But it would seem somebody took pity on him and gave him some answers.

A young boy wearing a travel cloak walks up to Zim and checks if she needs help with anything.
[Charm or Streetwise at Average]

Eventually, through their own methods they would be lead to an older Pantoran woman with long dark-greying hair. This woman stood near a small stash of grains and was busy filling out bowls that many of the kids from the local homes came running out from.

"'Morning, friend, and thanks! I'm trying to get to know more about the area... and wondering if maybe I can offer some help, too", she says, her head still mostly tucked in her hood, but a kind expression showing in the blue eyes looking at the boy's face.

"Oh! I know who you can go see!" he smiles up at her, missing one of his teeth at current the smile is lopsided but has a childish joy to it. Jutting out form under his own cloak he extends a small blue hand and unfurls his fingers with a little shake. Common or not as this might be to her, the young lad appears to be asking for a handout of sorts.

Something stood out to her about the woman. Enough to make her stop her aimless wandering and take note. She had no particular interest in striking up a conversation right away, so instead she just observed the woman a while longer; taking note of the comings and goings and maybe listening in.

Richo approached the stall carefully, wary of scaring off the older woman.
''Greetings Ma'am. I am told you could speak about the gonks?''

She smiles kindly to the boy in return. Her right hand reaches into her pockets, then to the boy's own hand for a handshake - during which he will notice she gives him a coin, with a nod.
If he looks at the coin, he'll see it's from somewhat far away... and worth 10 credits.

Taking the coin into hand he rubs it a little and by the shine seems satisfied with his large smile. Holding onto it with both hands he looks around and takes her hand at the same time as he shoves the coin into one of his pockets, "Come with me!" he says cheerily as he leads her through the streets toward the same older woman the others have found their way to.
Stopping abruptly and pointing her out, "You'd wanna talk to Nanna," he makes sure Zim see's who he's referring to before scampering off.

The older Pantoran woman looks up from one of the sacks she had set to the side. Measuring Richo for a moment she smiled warmly. Turning first to one of the young kids nearby she beckoned her over and placed the bowl she was using to scoop out portions for the other kids coming by into her hands. "Do me a favor and make sure everyone gets their share, hmm?" she says to the young Chadra-fan girl who nods her head twice in return. The older woman pats her on the head and rises again, patting off her hands on her pant legs.
"I'm no expert.. but few of us are," she gestured toward a couple of seats available nearby. "There was one fellow who came through here interested in them but they have yet to return. Please, come, sit and I can answer what questions you might have as best I can."

The man gives a simple nod and takes the seat the old woman after readjusting the rifle on his back. He did a quick scan of the situation: the woman, the children, the bags.
''I heard they are a fairly recent problem'' he began ''What are they and from where do they come?''

The Mikkian sees the boy off with another smile, then turns her attention to the Pantoran woman. Seeing she's currently talking to an armoured man, she steps a bit closer, but gives them some space in case they want to finish their conversation undisturbed. She does smile seeing her dealing with the kids, though.
