[Day 5 - Late Morning] Asking For A Friend

On her continued quest for seeking better gear for her lengthy stay on Bellionas, Soleene milled around the lower city to find what she was looking for. She was looking for a seller, rather than a store. It wasn't exactly a proper weapon by any means, wondering it was under the Imperial watch list. The reason which bemused her but she supposed there might have been headlines a few decades ago when boxing circuits where fighters used it to end matches pretty quickly. Wouldn't they be disqualified on a technicality for blowing up their opponent's faces off?
Well, luckily she was only asking...for a friend.

"I'd expect anything worthwhile was already taken by the Gonk. Still, there should at least be some dealers in this dump." Varina mimicked holding a blaster. "Not packing enough heat there?"

"Oh, hey, Varina," she said to her fellow sister and gave a shrug of her shoulders. "It's not a matter of not packing enough heat, just always keeping an eye out for improvements and upgrades. I guess I didn't expect the scale of this to be so big and I'm just hoping I'm pulling my weight when the time comes, you know?"

"Yeah, the ages-old tradition of Mandalorians tinkering with their stuff," Varina said, not incredibly impressed. Still, she offered a small smirk to Soleene. "Things have been quiet for the last couple weeks on my end. You see something recently?"

"Yes, but I'm probably not talking so much about tinkering. Sometimes simple comforts are about having brass knuckles with explosives strapped on them. I think they call it a stinger or a banger or something..." She murmured as she gave another glance around at some alleyways, almost hoping that a lit-up sign would pop up, as easily as it would look.
"No, not so much on my end. I caught a few shows at the Cave, took some jobs and scoped out a few things regarding the folks at the crater. Are you involved in this gonk business too?"

"That's probably more complicated than it sounds," Varina said with a raised brow. "The wrong setup and you'll just destroy your own hand. Even then, it'll probably hurt." She rubbed the back of her head. "There're a lot simpler weapons is what I'm getting at."
She tucked her hands into her jacket. "Involved with the Gonk business? Not so much as looking into them casually. Who ended up hiring you anyways?" That was not meant as an insult even if it was kind of phrased that way. Bad habit.

"There is...although I still would like to have a surprise in my back pocket for special occasions. Not something that I'd use casually on just any goons who decide to get mouthy but probably a much bigger target when I need to punch above my class. There isn't a shortage of small targets around here if you've got Imperials and Mandalorians who don't agree with you around." She shrugged. "But, I am willing to take suggestions if you got some weapons in mind."
"Ah, it seems that there's a few here who got themselves wrapped up. They're a problem with the city and the gonks started it. Something so troublesome doesn't typically stay put."
"If you're asking..." She gave a look around the streets before answering. "I was just hanging out at the ruins for some sightseeing and stumbled into a meeting with the Wraith sisters."

"Slipping those on isn't that big of a surprise." Varina took her sap gloves out of her pockets, the use of which she'd demonstrate later. "Not a lot of people would notice how hard these can hurt. Though I suppose they aren't for taking down rancor or whatever."
She shrugged. "You need me to look more into it, I will. Otherwise, I'm not too concerned about the Gonk anymore. As for these Wraith Sisters, I can't say I have any idea who those people are."

"I still need something big at the end of the day," she admitted on the matter. It was perhaps a bit silly to take Blast knuckles to a blaster fight but she still wanted to be able to put a dent into something at least.
She glanced at Varina. "The gonk situation? I don't think so...I know there's already a Toboga Mandalorian already on it, spending much of his time to also clear a potential escape route for the resistance here. That might not do that much good if things go south but I'm not too sure how these things are without being on Kamda. "
"Hutt sorts, I think. I figured I was going to get something small from them to get my ear on the ground around this place. Turns out it's not as small as I would have thought. Should have known they would make the seasonal help do the difficult work."

"You could always get a vibro-axe or something. I don't really care for how big they are, though. Can't hold onto something else as easily when necessary."
Varina shrugged. "Isn't that guy not in the Salky Raiders either? How many of us are there around these parts anyways? Same with the blasted Hutts."
She shook her head. "Maybe you should have just shot Gonks and sold the salvage. Don't get involved with crime bosses next time, okay?"

Bellionas' underworld wasn't as well developed as most worlds, and finding a connection to someone with the resources to supply goods of the nature was difficult. However, with a few whispers granted to what she was actually looking for gave her a different opportunity. Friend of a friend of a friend who heard about someone who actually had a pair. Word was that the person was an old merc who retired and they might actually be able to help her out, but no one had any idea what that person might ask for as a price.
Still.. it was her best bet, and so that lead her to the lower city. A home built out of the ruin at the outer most edge of the residential area.

"A vibro-weapon is better and more practical unless I'm smashing something that has the skin of a tree fruit," she said in agreement on the idea with a sigh. "I guess it would be easier to find."
Some time ago, she would rather have something for her fists but she could keep the contact in mind for when she has more time later on. She should probably be more conservative with her credits until her payday.
"He's not. Apparently, he just stumbled into town after his previous adventure with little details of what happened with the Enclave or the Salky Raiders. He's not too familiar with the recent Mand'alor either. The locals seemed to think there were many Mandalorians around but they might have mistaken some old Clone War helmets, I bet." She shrugged.
She tilted her head at the advice coming from someone who was younger than her. More ways than one, she was right, but she'd like to think that she was the bigger adult here. "I know how these things can spin out of control. After this, it'll be one and done."

"The vibrations should go through that, shouldn't it?" Varina wasn't a nerd like Jyr. She didn't know how that stuff actually worked.
"Cool, I guess. We're a scattered people and all that. At this rate, I think I'd be surprised to come to a planet and not run into other Mandalorians."
Her lips formed a thin line. "Yeah, sure, that's what they all say. Good luck with that."

Soleene gave a few small nods on the vibration bit. She had thought something like that was beyond her pay grade but she supposed she could splurge a little to get a vibro-something. Regarding the comment of luck, she just ignored it for now.
"I still think it's a bit of a special circumstance to run into another Mandalorian, especially after what happened. It just made running into another kind of awkward in more ways than one but that's probably always the case?" She said as she offered a glance at Varina.

"Is it that special? I'd wager I meet more Mandalorians randomly than anybody else at this rate." She counted on her fingers and held up two. "Yeah I mainly know Manny and Jyr. Otherwise, it's like all Mandalorians. It's like we're magnets." And unlike magnets, she had no idea how this fate thing worked.
"But anyways, yes, I suppose it's always been awkward. Half of them want to check if you know how to fight in live sparring or some stupid thing like that."

"I'm opposed to a fight or a spar if that's what they want out of me!" She said with some mirth in her voice before getting serious once more. "It just makes it awkward if some of them are looking to actually kill me at end of it with this whole Praxton situation. We still haven't really wrapped our head fully around why it happened and it doesn't seem like they're so hot about coming after us anymore. Maybe it's a legitimate death wish for all we know."

Varina frowned. "You're right, you're right. I guess it wasn't a great joke to make, given the circumstances..."

((OOC: I think I might have missed a 'not' somewhere in my post!))
Soleene gave a wave of her hand. "I wouldn't worry about too much about it, I think I was being a bit sarcastic there. It's hard to convey that under the helmet sometimes...Just saying that fun and interesting kind of takes a different flavour when there's a vendetta involved. Just be careful who approaches you, that's all."

"You could give 'not wearing the helmet' a try sometime," Varina said. "Unless you're converting to some sort of sect that requires it..." She'd definitely seen Raven without the helmet though... so it wasn't the Enclave, as far as she knew.
"You don't have to be worried about that. I don't like people approaching me in general."

"I'm not." She said a tough sternly on the matter as she found herself looking behind her. It was a nervous tick that she had told herself to stop doing but it couldn't be helped now that Varina brought that up. "But it does help a lot in other ways. I'll agree, I've probably been a walking pylon of suspicion whenever I stroll back, especially around those Imperial types. I'd rather be approached as a Mandalorian than somebody else, personally."
