Passive Checks

Passive checks are an infrequently used rule in my experience and thus I feel I should note upon how to interact with them here.

What happens when you need to make a passive check?

• When a passive check is called for there will typically be a rank associated with it. For example, to enter the Sapphire Lounge a character must pass a "Passive Charm or Deception check of Rank 2." What this means is that if a character possess' Rank 2 or higher in either of those skills they auto-succeed the check and may enter the establishment.

What happens if you don't have the required rank in the requested skills?

• You roll the requested skills against a difficulty which matches the Passive Rank requested. So, for the example of the Sapphire Lounge if you had a Charm of 1 you would end up rolling your Charm skill against a Average Difficulty (2 Difficulty Dice for the 2 Ranks.)
