The B-Team: The Good Doctor [D10, EM-LE, Event]

In BY8, a crack commando unit was sent to face off against the Imperial Armies to save a civilian from being killed for a crime he didn't commit. These men and women promptly held the line at the Spaceport to pull off a prompt rescue operation. Though their story remains unfulfilled, your own role here is to assist these men and women, as loyal members of the Rebellion or soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The B-Team.

Event Rules:
Event Type: Side-Ops
Participants: Unlimited (with conditions)
Timeslot: Mid-Evening
Force Powers: Yes, with restrictions

Please note: if a PC rolls in this thread, they cannot participate in the other B-Team thread. You were brought on to help with this mission, not the other one.

You're here to offer a assistance to the main team as they fight their way. You may make one check of your choice to offer assistance to the team The context must make sense within the situation, and do keep in mind that this task is a combat thread!. Be smart about what you do and how it could help them in their task. This can be narratively written as you doing something before the event occurred, of course, and you do not need to be technically present for your benefits to occur.

Almost any skill may be rolled in this event excluding:
  • Astrogation
  • Piloting (Planetary/Space)
  • Gunnery
  • Ranged: (Heavy)
  • Ranged: (Light)
  • Coercion
  • Negotiation
  • Any Knowledge Outside of Warfare and Underworld
Describe how you will be using this skill to help the team. Then, choose a difficulty ranging from Average to Daunting. On a success, your actions grant the team a bonus die for the amount of difficulty dice you rolled (e.g. rolling a average difficulty roll with success will grant a PC in that thread 2 bonus dice to use for a single roll.) On a failure, this will grant the GM setback die to use on a single roll of their choice. These dice cannot be split up and must be used in one singular roll. Triumph and Despair will grant an upgraded die to the player or DM respectively, Advantages and Threats will add bonus dice to the next roll in this thread at a 2:1 ratio.

In lieu of a skill roll, you may choose to instead be on the sidelines, offering cover fire and ranged support to the main units. Make a Ranged (Light or Heavy) or Gunnery check at a Daunting difficulty. One aiming maneuver will be allowed and any equipment or abilities you have to reduce the difficulty of distance die will apply here. Success on this roll will grant you the ability to provide suppressing fire, slowing down reinforcements for a unspecified amount of time based on your successes. Triumphs and Despairs will count as two successes and failures for determining the final total. Advantages and Threats will still give the next dice rolled in the thread a boost and setback by a 2:1 ratio.

PC's in the thread: To use bonus die from this thread, please link to the exact post in this thread to your post to help keep track of which ones have been used

Force Powers that enhance rolls will be allowed. All others will not.

The First 5 Dice Rolls Will Have a Flipped Destiny!

Addendum: Allowing the option for this event to be used in different time slots, since most things can be done even before the actual event. Just make sure to mention what time slot you're doing this in a clear way in your post.

Claymore moved in to the spaceport with his new optical camo system working overtime to keep him under cover of night. He worked his to find a computer terminal that is not used often, but can still jam coms and shutdown lights for the team, but keep enemy visible. That was his next move.

(actions occurring mid-evening)

Dhel's made friends with plenty of spaceport techs in the weeks she's been on the Manka Cats Rule. Cute, brings cookies, doesn't mind the lame jokes. Tonight she swallows her nerves to pay a visit...

She giggles, draped over the seated tech's shoulder. "You didn't! Did they ever figure out it was your mistake?" The young brunette, giggling too hard for words herself, just shakes her head, pausing with an indrawn breath as Dhel nuzzles at her throat.

"So naughty..." Dhel swings around to sprawl across the young lady's lap, having drawn out information about what most of the obvious controls did. Time to distract them both with a bit of fun, and hope nobody on the next shift noticed all of the ones switched to non-regulation settings, when everything got wild.

Charm

D10 ME Good Dr. Support: Charm: Hard Difficulty GM flip upgrade, Downgrade with Congenial, upgrade skill-Cascader, 1 Boost-Cascader special, 1 setback from Clay: 3eP+1eB+3eD+1eS 4 successes, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Offers 3 boost to someone in main thread.
________
Also, in the rules above it reads "Destiny and Triumphs will grant a upgraded die to the player and DM, respectably."

Editor hat on to say I think that's meant to be "Triumph and Despair will grant an upgraded die to the player or DM, respectively." ??

((Don't know what you're talking about. --Fless)) [edit to add a time slot, and ;p]

[ME]

While Dhel was doing something helpful, Korvin was finding his way through parts of the spaceport that saw less use and got less scrutiny than the site of their pending operation. He made it to his objective, overlooking one of the Imperial security posts and conveniently listening in for information that might be useful.

The time was not especially well spent, although he was able to transmit some names of individuals from the stormtrooper detail to others on Team Petra. Maybe that would help someone do something...

------
Rolling D10 B team support: Stealth Agi Hard. Skill 1, Agi 4, upgrade from GM Destiny: 3eA+1eP+2eD+1eC 0 successes, 2 advantage

So 1 boost to next roll in this thread. Go team!

[ME]

Not long before the group left for the Spaceport proper, Zim took some time to speak to them. She knew she wouldn't be as helpful in that situation as the others, but she wanted to help somehow. So she talked to them.

She had spent some time with most of them, although not all. But from them all, it was Sol who she felt she knew best... and yet, after what happened a couple days back, she felt she didn't quite know him.

But she brushed her doubts aside, and started speaking to them. Encouraging them. Trying to give them hope, focus and peace, even in the face of danger and overwhelming odds.

Today, they had to be as one. Feel each other's presence, feel their connection, feel their fears and overcome them. Trust one another and the connections linking one to another. Rely on each other.

And particularly - remember what they were here for. Not for violence... although the situation might make it unavoidable. Their focus should not be on inflicting pain, but on protecting someone. Saving someone.

She remembered her talk to Cartess the day before. Remembered what happened at the Swamp. What happened at the Grotto. And she was doubtful.

She felt the call of darkness drawing her, once again. But she held strong. She didn't need it. They didn't need it - and she reminded them of that as well.

She wasn't sure how much that would help... but she did her best, and held on to hope herself.

OOC:
D10 ME - Good Doctor B-Team; Leadership/ Presence, Intense Focus; 1 Light + 1 Dark pips from Influence vs Daunting, 1 GM upgrade: 1eP+2eA+2eF+1eC+3eD 1 advantage, 1 Triumph, 3 Dark Side
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

EDIT! Forgot a boost die, rolling it now
D10 ME - Good Doctor B-Team: Fless reminded me I Forgot a Boost Die!: 1eB 1 success
Image

EDIT2: Using 1 light pip from Empty Soul to get 1 advantage instead.

So actually 1 Success, 2 advantage, 1 Triumph, 3 Dark Side

[Granting 4 bonus dice (Daunting) plus the chance for a player to upgrade one die (Triumph)!]
[Also 2 advantage grant 1 bonus die to next roller here]

by Torr Po
(Mid-Day)

Deciding to go for a quick scouting run of the spaceport. Torr made it about halfway there before deciding to stop in for a drink. Serendipitously he ended up overhearing a conversation between some imperial officers. Both of which, it turns out, were set to relieve the group guarding Petra. He downed his last drink, then ordered another. Stumbling towards the officers he managed to evenly distribute the drink all over both of them.

"You mangy vagrant!" They declared.
"Looks good on you, imperial dogs!"

Torr, I think you missed a boost from Zim above. Which could be rolled separately.
