The old man wasn't wrong in some respects; Qar had brought himself up away from the safety of his family home. That place on Mirial no longer existed for reasons it wasn't wise to speak loud about lest some dreaded Imperial service might get ideas.

Qar claimed one stool by the bar and ordered something, seeking no further conversation or opportunity to spend the evening in other ways than solitary.
