[Day 4 - Late Afternoon] Bare Necessities

As the day was winding down in the city, Soleene made a few errands for the little Mandalorian Enclave 'holding' in the city. The kitchen didn't replenish itself and it wasn't like they were living with the benefit of room service either, not that any self-respecting Mandalorian would accept such a thing if it was given to them freely. The alley made it easy to shop at least, many of the restaurants need items to host their customers and she found a market within walking distance.

After she made her 'run', she was hauling a few bags with water, various canned goods and other necessities as she began her trek back.

Another mandalorian was also near the markets but was looking for something else entirely. Due to his encounters in the lower city his chitin armor needed to be not only re-oiled but also needed to have the burnt grime properly removed. He, however, had run out of most of what he had working his helm and weapon.

Soleene had finished her shopping and wasn't really paying much attention to the stores themselves. However, it was hard to miss that distinctive Mandalorian helmet when she managed to catch J-Richo from the corner of her eye. She gave a glance around, wondering if he was in the middle of something or a job.

She strode up to where he was at and gave him a nod of acknowledgement. "Hey, J-Richo, you up to something?"

Richo diverted his attention away from the stall he had been looking at towards the voice that called to his name

''Ah. Soleene'' he gave a nod in return ''I am looking for some more cleaning products for my armor as I already used all that I had in reserve.''

"I guess you've been away for a while, I recall?" She chuckled with a few nods. "There's a store around the corner that seems to well all sorts of kitchenware a while back but I think was kind of surprised that they had a few things relating to metal care and such. Just a few blocks down if you're at all interested in taking a glance."

''I've been roaming the undercity for the last few days and the grime that rains from the ceiling at times is bad enough for the armor on it's own but burnt grime is just hell to clean''

He sighed as he peeked in the direction Soleene indicated

''Pots and pans do need cleaning as well...hum...chitin requires different care then metal but they might also have something to do the job.''

"An undercity, eh? I should have figured there was something like that around here. That might do it then. Mind if I ask what you were doing there if that's something that's open information," she said with a shrug. It didn't bother her if he was open either way, it was likely none of her business, to begin with.

"Well, I can lead you to it and you can take a look. It seems armour is a fashion statement in the lower city. I don't think they wouldn't have a few ways to take care of it, especially in this damn heat. Come on," she gave a tilt of her head to the direction and turned to show J-Richo the way.

''I'd appreciate it, thanks'' he began walking in the direction '

'As for the undercity I started going there to find a possible emergency safehouses should things go sour for our poplar friends and their homecraft project. While that project was not successful a another soldier and I rescued a scavenger in the process of getting attacked by the Gonks. I have been on some scavenging runs and fighting them back since''

"It seems a lot of people are popular around here it seems...but I guess you're thinking ahead in case things go south? It might be a little too much extra work on your part if it never gets used." She said a touch skeptically.

''Possible but honestly...I have nothing better to do right now'' he replied honestly ''What I can do for our group of friends is limited and since I am not form this planet I am unaware of how I could apply myself beyond what they call for''

''Fighting gonks gets rid of a danger for the common folks and gives me something to do that I am good at.''

She nodded soundly at that. "Right. I guess I can sympathize with that, especially when we're just looking at the calm before the storm. A whole lot of calm can be good in an operation like this, especially when they're getting their courage to stand up. They probably want all the people they can get and I'm sure the situations will find themselves even if we don't go looking for it. It's not like the Imperials are going to ignore this being a thing for too long, especially if it becomes successful."

"What are all the gonks about, anyway?"

''If anyone believe the Big Cheeses will leave without exerting violence, they are deluding themselves. Quite dangerously so, in fact.'' he kept a watchful eye to make sure no one was listening

''As for the gonks...I honestly can't make sense of them. They act like savages and only communicate with grunts and howls but their troop leaders seems to be able to use advanced strategies and coordination. They are all equipped the same way like a unified fighting force but that equipment is so poorly maintained I wonder how they manage to used them at all.''

Soleene shrugged at that. "Everyone probably wants to get their hours in and help while things are safe. It's not so bad for then now and they have combat-able people to worry about later."

"I wonder if that's so strange. How equipped are we talking about here? Is there any chance it might be hand-me-downs, maybe?

''They appear to be scavenged items...salvaged clone armors for the grunts and complete ones for theirs field commanders. The grunts all carry a slug thrower and what seems to be a vibroaxe while the commanders's weapon loadout varies. Those could all be salvaged items but...''

he reached into his pack to get the ''vibro-axe'' as an example: a barely sharp piece of metal jury-rigged to a motor-like contraption on a piece of pipe.

''This is the condition of their weaponry...it shoul'dnt work...hell it does'nt work in my hands or any other's except theirs in which case it acts like a fully functionnal vibro weapon''

Soleene tilted her head slightly at this. "I don't know if it's much of a mystery here, considering these things are probably so shotty that any sort of weird angles or shakes is bound to probably loosen some wiring inside them. They probably go about their mornings trying to get this thing to work for a few swings. I'm not a mechanic, however. Just comparing this to an old remote I used to have, where you have to aim it from a certain angle and it only works on certain days of the week..."

"I'm guessing there's bound to be a whole lot left, maybe you could ask them," she said as she thumbed to the direction of a store that seemed to have all manner of clayware, cast iron pots and copper utensils. "I mean the Gonks. Here, I don't know if this will do the trick..."

''No...it's not...urgh.'' he shook his head ''No matter, I guess you have to see them in action to understand the situation.''

Once arrived at the shop he began inspecting the cleaning products silently until he found one large bottle of some unknown brand and purchased it

''Never used this before but the chemical composition should match what I am used to. Thank you for your assistance.''

"I had to be there to see it, huh? Well, I guess that's something I can accept. If I can curious enough, maybe I'll take a peek to see what's what. The way you're describing it makes it sound like it's a whole other planet with some weird magnetic field. Unless they all have command of the Force and make things happen that shouldn't." She gave a shake of her head, recalling her conversation with the droid where the Force was a good chunk of the conversation.

"Hey, no sweat. I imagine that even I might be using some of the stuff soon enough after a few days. Sorry about not offering much about the chitin issue. I'm guessing shampoo doesn't exactly do the trick, huh?" She gave him a glance over.

''Not quite but I will manage with those cleaning product.'' he states quite confidently ''How are your projects here? You did not speak much...or with clarity''

"No, I didn't think I did," she said simply at first on the matter. "I guess I was curious to see what the business at the outskirts of the city was all about. There was some talk of some strange things happening there. However, I guess I'm now probably more focused on building some connections here with the locals. If I'm going to be helping out, it's better to see who else I can help out, right? It does make me wonder who really runs things around here."

''One has to wonder'' he replied while noticing the supplies ''I do not know who watches over the crater outside the city but they seem to be armed with a disruptor rifle.''
