Korvin was staring at the hotel bed, covered with his meager stockpile of weapons and armor. To say he was meditating on the items and the possibilities of tomorrow would be an insult to the concept of meditation, but the young man was calm and letting his mind wander through the possible paths of tomorrow and the days after, if there were any. He felt like most signs pointed to few, if any, additional days in his future, but then nothing in the last few weeks had been predictable before it happened. How many of the threads of his life would still exist 48 hours from now? Korvin pushed that question from his mind as he again reviewed the checklist he'd made, getting to cover contingencies for tomorrow, both great and small.
