Scouting (D1, LE)

After the meeting, Raven decided to check out the area that the resistance said they would operate out of. Chances were likely that they would interact with said area a few times, and if it needed defenders, it would be vital that she and her people knew its layout.

Without Jyr around to nag about sticking out like a sore Mando-thumb, the Cadera woman was now wearing her helmet again underneath the hood and wrap that still kept it somewhat obscured. But at least that let her navigate the darker area without trouble.

The place didn't seem terribly impressive...

Deonis had a similar idea the hulking metal clad man walked through the old building getting a feel for it knowing that it's the next big project for the resistance. He too wore a cloak over his armor with his hood up to help draw less attention to himself.

He saw the mandalorian from the meeting and approached cautiously not trying to hide himself but trying to downplay the aura of violence that surrounded him at the best of times. "I see I am not the only one to want to scout out the press." A gruff and slightly modulated voice called out to Raven.

On instinct, her hand moved towards an unseen holster underneath her cloak. Then the movement relaxed, as she identified the source of the voice as one she had seen at the meeting only a couple of hours ago.

"So it seems." Her hand moved away from whatever she had reached for under the cloak, showing it was holding nothing. "... Are you a local of Bellionas?" Likewise, the helmet modulated her voice somewhat, with traces of a Concordian accent.

He noticed the movement but if he reacted it was visible underneath his visor. "Local enough. Been here for a couple years. Not intimately familiar with the area. Never looked too closely at the press." He replied in brusque sentences his own word inflected with the core worlds accent, probably Coruscant if one had to guess.

His cloak obscured any equipment he might carry except for a large handle presumably attached to the oversized sword he was seen with earlier.

"Mm, I see." Her head dipped in a nod, reflecting on his words.

"Probably won't be wise if everyone holes up here. Or spend too much time trafficing to and from, unless there are some hidden pathways, perhaps." Adjusting her cloak slightly, Raven turned to fully face the man.

"Raven of Clan Cadera. Well met."

Deonis nodded at her assessment "Deonis. Been called Deo or D. Whatever you like."

He pulled back his hood, the need for hiding likely over for now, and looked around the place "Probably right, probably obvious if traffic became too heavy." He walked about a bit, metal boots on the ground "not the worst place. Not the best. But beggars and choosers as the saying goes."

Walking closer, it was obvious she was armored from head to toe, but the armor seemed to be of fine make that hardly hampered or weighed down her movement.

"If it's going to be their base of operations, some form of shift should be established to defend it. I assume the leaders of this gig is going to judge on that, when they got an idea of the volunteers they have to work with..." there was a weariness to her words, but it was at the end of the day so it could very well just be fatigue.

"How bad's the Empire's presence here on the planet? Do they do frequent sweeps?"

He was armored similarly though his armor was heavily modified made for someone smaller but expanded and fit for his larger frame.

"Mandalorian. Or rich." It was hard to tell if his words were observation or question.

He continued, building on her analysis "watch will certainly be needed. Probably organized by Sera. She handles security for Mara." He worked for the little resistance here and there but he wasn't much of a joiner most of the time.

He looked back to her "Imperial presence is strong here, not overwhelming but strong, increased sweeps since what happened on Kamda. Not sure how often they check buildings like this that are low strategic value and considered abandoned" Word had spread like wildfire though you didn't want to have an Imperial hear you talking about it "It will be an uphill fight."

A dry chuckle elicited from her, modulated through the helmet even as she pulled down the parts of fabric that obscured it, revealing the signature t-visor. A single white feather marked one side of the helmet's face.

"I thought the clan name was a giveaway. Yes. Mandalorian." She had never been rich, or at least not in the way she imagined people were rich. The fact that her armor was in itself worth a fair deal was not something she considered, as for Raven there was no real price to put on her people's cultural heritage.

"Hm... an uphill fight makes it an interesting fight, at least. Wouldn't be a challenge if it was going to be easy."

"Don't know much about Mandalorians. They have clans. Interesting." He had hopped around the galaxy a fair bit but spent most of the time just trying to survive.

"People close to broken. Though word spreads of events on Kamda. Gives some hope. Hope is good, but dangerous." He paused though what he was thinking or feeling was impossible to tell, though Raven was likely used to the blank cold stare of a visor "been a while since I've had a good fight. Gonks and raiders are only ok for practice."

"Many clans. Some great in numbers, others only a handful." Raven didn't mind expanding upon that. She had spent most of the past year only with Mandalorians, she noticed she had grown too accustomed to being used to everyone knowing these things.

"... Gonks are those little boxy-droids, no?" The mention of Raiders did catch her attention, but the word Gonk in there seemed so weird, she had to ask.

A rough snort came from the helmet "Nickname. Gonk raiders are sentients. Barely. Called Gonks because they are mindless, simply attack anything in sight that isn't them. Only really a problem in Lower district."

"Hell of a nickname," she chuckled and shook her head. "Will keep an eye out for those if moving in that area then. Thank you." No need to be rude to the other Resistance-members.

"And the Raiders... those would be the ones calling themselves the Salky Raiders...?" Her tone hardened a little at the question.

"Do that. Probably not much of a threat to you but they tend to group up. best to not go in the ruined city alone. And yeah Salky raiders. You have heard of them." He said flatly hearing the shift in her tone.

"You could say that," she seemed to tense somewhat as she inhaled sharply. "Not that there is much Mandalorian about them... just a bunch of filthy cowards bringing shame to the name."

Yep, she really did not like them.

"... Been in this fight long then? Here on Bellionas, against the Empire, I mean."

He was quite for a minute regarding her for a bit perhaps thinking or deliberating on something "curious." Was all he said after a moment.

"Not long. Not much of a 'fight' really. I just arrived on planet a couple years ago. They can't do much to fight Imperials but maybe with more help arriving that changes."

"Always something to be done somewhere against 'em," she shrugged. Not everyone were Mandalorians who looked to fighting as the answer though. "... I was on Kamda, and fought them there. A... contact, asked us to help again, and we've agreed. Or, at least some of us have."

Deonis nodded "Good thing you did on Kamda if the stories are true. Glad to hear we've got blooded warriors on our side now. Not sure how much stomach Kayde has for violence. These situations boil down to it at some point regardless."

She nodded in return, pausing to glance at their surroundings a bit more closely. "People talk about peaceful options, of caution and not escalating things... problem is, the Empire only has one mode of operation and that is violence. Better be prepared to deal with it than to have some grandiose ideas of change without blood and sweat. There's only for so long you can do things quietly before a confrontation comes. It didn't start out violently on Kamda either."

"You don't have to tell me how the Empire operates." His voice grew harder and an aura of violence around the large man became a bit stronger "Before this is over there will be blood. Peace is a Lie." He said almost absent mindedly a mantra from a past life.
