Unnecessary life of the party

When he arrived at Drezzie's bar, the smiling young man in the brown leather jacket rather shamelessly glad-handed his way in. Korvin was hardly a celebrity, and plenty of the people who knew him weren't exactly big fans, but it felt good to remind himself that this was a place where people knew who he was. Traveling off world had made him feel a little small, and he was probably overcompensating tonight as a result.
On any other night, Korvin's attention-drawing entrance would have been obnoxious. On this night, with the house packed and the focus entirely on the massively popular Drezzie, he was easy to ignore for anyone who wanted to.

Korvin's distraction made it a simple thing to enter the bar unnoticed. Well well. Look who's back in town. He flashed the kid an amused grin, shaking his head at the display. Tens had enough practice of blending into the background that he made it all the way to the bar before Drezzie clocked him.
"Congrats old timer. Kid got a name yet?"
Sliding onto a barstool he checked out the familiar faces, enjoying the party atmosphere. His guard was never really down, but this was the most relaxed he'd felt in weeks.

Korvin caught up with Tens soon after, slapping his shoulder gently as he slid onto the stool beside him.
"There's a familiar, friendly face," the young Pantoran said, still all smiles. "How've you been while I was away? I don't know if I missed anything important or not."

"Hey kid, how was the trip?" Tenzing passed him one of the beers and raised his own bottle in a little salute. "Here's to Drezzie's expanding family." With a chuckle he took a swig and sighed.
"You didn't miss much. 'Cept the Imps cracking down again, but let's not spoil the night huh?" He winked. "Business is good. Everyone needs help with somethin' or other. Where'd you go anyway?"

Korvin joins in raising a bottle and drinking, and he nods solemnly at mention of imperials.
"Ah, my parents decided it was time for an 'educational adventure.' Visit some Core Worlds, learn... history, or culture? Something like that. Dad even sent a droid from his company to keep tabs on me, make sure I followed the schedule and all." He takes another drink. "Glad to be back. Can't wait to get back to racing," he says firmly.

Tens smirked at that. "Core Worlds huh? So...what did you learn? Other than droid evasion 101." He could have given the kid plenty of pointers in that department.
Sipping the beer his eyes moved around the bar again. "Getting more dangerous in the Lower. Gonks been causing trouble. Keep that in mind if an' when you go tearin' it up down there."
Korvin wouldn't be the first kid he'd have to go rescue down there. Wouldn't be the last.

The younger man nods along as Tens speaks.
"Well, I don't think people are much happier on the worlds I visited than they are here. Plenty of imperials living a fine life, but most other folks just seem to be there. Not happy or vibrant, just... present. And if it ain't better anywhere else, I'd sure rather be here, ya know?"
Korvin took a small drink from his bottle, like he was washing away a bad taste.
"You know, if people need help with something -- the kind of help a fast bike and sharp rider can provide -- you should let me know. I'm not a bad shot, either," he adds, patting the blaster pistol in his holster. "Ruby and I like any excuse we can get to run," he says with a smile, referring to his prized speeder bike.

It didn't surprise him. Joy didn't seem to be high on the Empire's priority list.
"I hear you. Go with what you know huh? Well thanks for the offer kid, I'll keep that in mind." He gave the lad a smile. It would weigh on his conscience if anything bad happened though.
"Ruby? Oh, right. Red ones go faster." He smirked and sipped the beer. "Been a while but I've heard that little gem before."

Korvin grins, happy that the older man would at least remember his suggestion. And the grin turns to a full smile at any recognition for Ruby.
"Red is working out real well so far," he said happily. "I was on kind of a hot streak before that sudden vacation. Might say I was on Ruby-red fire," he joked lamely, but still clearly proud of his accomplishments. With a small chuckle he continued, "I bet Ruby is past ready for another race. I hope I didn't lose anything being away that long." He wiggles his shoulders and rolls them a couple of times, clearly more concerned about a theoretical race than looking ridiculous in this bar.

"Find out before your next race kid. Practice makes perfect." With a wink he patted the kid on the shoulder and downed the rest of the beer.
The bar was pretty packed by this point and Drezzie's good mood was infectious. Ordering more beer he told the old guy to keep the change. "Get something for the grandkid."
Idly he wondered who was going to need his help this week.
