I Think You Dropped This (closed) [EM Day-8]

[Nelk]

Nelk had spent the next week after the race casing an abandoned mechanics place 'The Spiral Sprocket,' making the necessary modifications and installing creature comforts to make it livable. She'd realized the need to have her own private base of operations, away from the other rebels. It was better to be safe than sorry, and she knew in her line of work things don't go from good to bad, but rather good to code red.

It was, on face value, a two story building. The ground floor was the mechanic floor, with two auto bays, empty toolboxes and debris scattered about. One battered beyond repair speeder sat in one of the bays. Above, was an office, with glass pane windows overlooking the bays below. It was sparse, the electronics had been gutted, but if necessary could provide a convenient vantage point if ever she needed to get the drop on an infiltrator. There was, however, somewhat of a third floor, hidden below the bays. Typically it would be reveled when the speeders were lifted for easy access to the undercarriage. The previous owner, it would seem, fancied themselves a smuggler and had installed a trap door under the bay with the busted speeder sitting on it, that she had discovered by accident. The door led to a small room with one couch, and a cot, whatever else used to be here was gone. It wasn't much, but it was hers.

The next week, Nelk worked on getting the word out in the underworld, through trusted and vetted sources only, that she was seeking a meeting with an insidious figure. She had something that belong to them, and had prepared an offer, should they wish to claim it. She made sure the news wouldn't reach her recent colleagues, they may share a common goal, but her trust would only remain intact without their knowledge of her grand scheme. What she was attempting would be seen as insanity, a wish for agonizing pain and death, should she fail. "I won't fail. I can't," she often repeated to herself in anticipation. None of her recent companions would likely understand, not least of all Torr.

Once she was confident the word had gone out as far as she felt safe, she waited in the office, overlooking the mechanic bays, with her new bedroom hidden comfortably out of sight. She took a deep breath, her fingers tightening around the splintered metal of her offering. A slight red glow ominously flickered in the darkness of the abandoned business.

Boots clicked against stone as a lone woman approached the front of the business, visible in the space just outside the autobays should the door be open. Wearing all black and with her hair neatly laying off to one side, as the other was shaved, she walked with eyes closed. However, the presence emanating off of her was cold, cold with an intensity to her.

Nelk watched the woman arrive, the tuft of hair on her neck standing in anticipation. She took another deep breath to calm her nerves.
"You found me. I believe I have something of yours. She holds the sparking handle up, then descends the stairs with confidence, stopping at the back of the bays.

"If you know what that is- you know how stupid of a game you're playing," the woman stepped forward, the facial tattoos coming into view as well as her provocative attire. With a few more quickened steps forward she asks with a hiss, "So- give it to me quickly and I'll kill you just the same," she says, opening her hand and laying it out for the broken saber.

[Nelk]

"Yes, a weapon of great skill and lethality. We both know you don't need it to kill me. I was holding onto it for you, from what I was told, many of those you lost it to wished to destroy it; I saved it." Nelk holds it out and examines it for a moment before extending it to the inquisitor. "I was hoping you might see the value in keeping me alive. Someone of your," Nelk looks the woman up and down, "stature, might have difficulty remaining unnoticed. I, on the other hand, blend in quite nicely. I've even befriended some of the people working with the current uprising. An insider may provide useful for you." Nelk stood her ground ready to face her fate. Her breath was slow and measured, her posture relaxed yet strong. She hoped her training to stay calm would benefit her now. "Life or death, my fate is in your hands." Nelk kneeled to one knee with her head down.

Quickly claiming it from Nelk the moment it was extended she gave it an appraisal, her frown deepening. However, as Nelk continued there was a tell-tale glimmer in her eye as she appraised her. Stalking like a predator would prey trapped in a tree she walks around the knelt Nelk. "I could.. I could.. but, no.." she smiles, a menacing smile as she glances out toward the way she came from.

"I can use you.. that- no, she'll never see it coming. An ace in the sleeve to settle the debt for good.." she smiles, nodding to herself. Looking around the building she glares with an angry state, "Leave," she says, and from the shadows troopers in black armor rise and then depart. One stepping forward and giving a nod before departing.

Giving them time to filter out she waited, pacing around Nelk as she thought and planned.

[Nelk]

"What to have you do.. outsmart, outthink, I want you to get me one step ahead of that vile woman," she sneers after some more pacing. Coming up in front of Nelk she looks down upon her. Destroyed saber in her hand as she smiles. "You'll be mine.. my little trick, like the one she always pulls to find people first. Find me someone.. find me Arwen, he's a mirialan.." she smirks viciously, "and has only one arm."

[Nelk]

“Find him, or bring him to you? Dead or alive? Is there anything else you can tell me? Thank you for this honor and privilege, master.” Nelk looks up at the inquisitor. “What shall you have me call you?”

[Meiyokashi]

"Find him.." she says, a brief smile playing across her lips. Digging into a satchel at her side she tosses Nelk a specialized commlink. "Use that, it will reach me and only me. Just know he is very dangerous, and very connected. If you've gotten close with the resistance here.. it's only a matter of time. When you find him, tell me," she says, and then turns to leave.

[Nelk]

Nelk stands, “I look forward to our next meeting.”

As the inquisitor retreats Nelk certainly notices the shift in the room, the cold anger that emanated off of her dissipating and the heat of the rising day rushing in all around. Suddenly, she was alone once more and.. not dead, which was certainly something.

She breathes a sigh of relief as a smirk rises from the corner of her mouth. The hatred was gone, but Nelk relished her own lingering fear.
