Conquering The Booze (Open)

Dhel listens, nodding focused on Raven. "That sounds really wonderful," she says, a bit wistfully. "Better than you are on your own? Like...more confident because you can face things?" There's genuine curiosity in her tone.

"I've had partners that wanted to...hmm...improve me, you know? But I don't think that's what you mean."

"Not quite what I mean, no. More that... we have eachother, knowing they are our support and our strength. It's more about lifting eachother up, than trying to make the other into something they're not." She rubbed her forehead a little, really feeling like heading back to the safehouse for a moment now rather than being here, even if Dhel was wonderful company.

"When I say better, it's more than just about being filled with confidence because someone supports you. It's... knowing that whatever troubles there is, that we'll share the burden together and always be there for one another. The wedding vows, translated, they say; We are one when together, we are one when parted, we will share all."

Not that Raven would tell Dhel that she left off the last part, mostly for the same reason as she had with Manny when he had asked her a while ago about it. It was just easier to avoid the question of children at the moment.

"One when together, and apart. Hmm." Dhel's smile is thoughtful. "I'm glad you have that. Has to be useful as we...well, get through things here."

Noticing Raven's moment there, Dhel finishes her drink, definitely noticing the buzz of it now as she hops up. "OK, enough chatting, I think. Time I got back to work. Try and mingle a bit more before heading out."

"Mm, yeah..." with a brief smile, Raven took another sip of hers. There was still a little bit left, but she wasn't going to rush herself. "I think I'll hang a bit more, finish my drink, then head back for the night. You got Korvin taking you home tonight, right?"

Dhel nods. "Yeah. I'll find him around somewhere. Probably talking to some tech about adjustments for his bike or something of the sort.."

"And you? Do I need to poke him about that extra ride for the return trip? I mean, I probably do, but you wouldn't be heading back to our ship."

"If it's no trouble. Wouldn't want to impose on the kid, after all." She certainly would prefer the ride, as it would be faster.
