Whatever the reason, Korvin's arms fold around her as naturally as they would have days before. She can feel him breathing raggedly, and can feel how his body shakes as he sniffles.
He doesn't try to talk, knowing it wouldn't work anyway, but he nods weakly in agreement with what she's saying. After Dhel stops speaking, Korvin tries harder to compose himself. Silence in her embrace isn't the comfort that it used to be.
It takes him a few moments, but he controls his breathing and ships shaking. Maybe faster than he should, given the intensity of his mood. He says quietly, always careful of her sensitive ears, "When I let go, I have to walk out the door. Because... Yeah. I have to." There's a hard breath, but he fights off another sniffle.

She strokes his back gently, keeping her own breathing controlled, slow; something learned with younger siblings. "Yeah. I get that," she says with a voice gone tight with the tension that slow breaths can't banish, squeezing a bit tighter for a moment as her throat closes on anything further.
There's a moment of realization that this is really the last time she'll see him, because the person she might meet when she comes back is not going to be the same one who's walking away now. There's too much going on for them not to change. So she does her best to fix the moment in memory.
But she can't hold onto the moment forever, or him, or any of those she's leaving behind, who are also all going to be different people. Her breath hitches once as she squeezes and lets go, nodding a bit as her hands drop to her lap again. She won't look away though, lifting her chin with a little steadying breath, eyes damp, lips pressed tight. "Be safe." There's a hint of question to it, though she couldn't have said who she was asking.

As Dhel's grip loosens, Korvin knows it's time. If he doesn't leave now, it might take Phroth carrying him out, and the Pantoran really doesn't want to see anyone else from the ship right now. Maybe anyone at all.
With a long, shuddering breath, Korvin forces himself to stand. He looks into Dhel's eyes, wishing so much was different. When she says, "Be safe," he inhales deeply, like he might say something poetic, or noble, or just fitting to close this chapter for them.
He can't do it. He blinks his welling eyes and -- maybe? -- gives half a nod in response, but the swing of his head leads straight into a turn and heading for the door. With her hearing, Dhel can catch a gasping moan of frustration as he's out the hatch and practically running toward Ruby.

She watches him go, blinking rapidly, not sure how much of what she's feeling is her own ache at parting versus that of causing him pain like that--the bandage ripping off at the end. It won't be until she can no longer hear Ruby humming out of the hangar that she'll curl up on the couch with those feelings and thoughts for a bit.
It's not likely to be long. The ship is full, and someone will wander in, and she'll brush everything aside to avoid having a 'what's wrong?' kind of talk, and there's still so much to do before leaving... But for now, there's a little space for just this.
