Whoa Whoa, Hold Up [D1|MM]

[Meiyokashi]

Following the earlier announcement and in the wake of what has recently transpired the halls of the enclave have been relatively quiet. Most of the others tend to their own respective circles of influence with themselves. Speaking of what happened, what is coming, and what they hope their particular part in it will be. All the while they prepare for the possibility that they head out against their new enemy in just a few hours if need be, although few suspect it will truly be that soon.

This semblance of a peace for the moment is broken up by one interaction as it moves through the corridors, however.

[Dex]

"No, you can't-" Dex shouted as she came around the front of Orar again, placing both hands on his chest as if to stop him physically in his tracks like a moving boulder. For a step she skid against the floor and stopped on the heel of her boot. It worked, for the moment, as he looked down at her and sighed deeply.

Pacing the enclave, all dressed up in her armor with the helmet on, Raven came upon the scene.

Praxton needed his rest and she had felt she might go insane if she hovered by his bedside.

"What's going on?" The words came out harsher than she intended, clearly showing her frustrated mood, even through the helmet.

[Orar]

"This bast-" Dex sputtered out quickly, but fell silent when Orar overtook her with volume and command of voice.

"This one," he indicates Dex with a head tilted toward her, "would have me not execute on Mand'alors most recent order. Something," he looks down to Dex, "which would compromise the security of our enclave if I did not carry out. All because the foundling has found herself with a softer heart than would be expected of a warrior."

[Dex]

Dex abandons trying to reason with Orar and just looks to Raven instead, pleading a bit with her eyes as her helmet hangs in a sack at her side.

"I was there- I was the one who took him in, yea? But- I saw the surprise on his face and I know he has no idea what's going on. Just got caught up in all this like the rest of us. We can't just kill him for that!" she shouted out the last bit, her voice ever a unsteady anger and disappointment boiling up from underneath.

Raven sighed heavily as she crossed her arms. If they were all cowardly bastards, then they wouldn't have settled for merely attacking just one of their numbers... it would have been a more coordinated assault.

She was obviously not pleased judging by her body language. Another sigh and she looked at Orar, then Dex.

"... If what you say is true, then he can be useful by cleansing the shame of his people by bringing the ones responsible to justice. If he refuses, then he can die a coward's death by my hands. If I find he has lied to you or manipulated you, my foundling, then I will make him beg for death."

Her helmet turned to Orar once more, awaiting his reply to this.

[Orar]

"It's not-" she started, but her voice naturally dipped lower as Orars was as loud and booming as ever. Not intentionally so, this time, but just the natural state of the moment.

"Kid already told us where the rest of the raiders are camped, and Mand'alor ain't interested in giving him a chance to signal his people before we're ready. So, he stays here- and he dies. No chance he'll be a problem again after that. But if you want to talk to him before I do it, or do it yourself," he raises both hands, shrugs, "go ahead."

One of her hands flexed into a fist, then relaxed again as she took a deep breath. Could she even trust herself to speak to this person without beating them to a bloody pulp? Kriffin' hell, she just really needed to let out her anger at someone, or something...

"... Has he renounced his comradres and his affiliation with them?" she asked, pushing herself to be reasonable for Dex's sake. And the nagging feeling that it was what Praxton would have tried to be.

[Orar]

"Depends on which ones you ask about. Lad claims up and down that the Salky Raiders wouldn't do something like this. Seems half the reason he told us where they were is so that we can go confirm that for ourselves," he shrugged. "Long answer, it's complicated with the brat. Short answer, it doesn't matter. Mand'alor passed his judgement so I'd prefer to just get this all taken care of as quickly as possible."

Let Mand'alor carry out his own stinkin' executions, Raven thought sourly, as she did not find herself agreeing with this course of action. And if Mand'alor had indeed made up his mind, she knew she would have a hard time to make him change the decision. Not even Praxton was able to do that most of the time once he had decided.

The presence of Dex at least pushed her to... be better than just a ball of rage. She owed it to Praxton to argue the way he would of in this situation. Arms uncrossed as she held up her palms. "Think about it. If it's something they're all in on, they would've struck more of us, at much better times, than just a single one alone with some half-assed plan of attack. Is the actions of one man going to condemn this chance at uniting more of our people?" While she spoke words that she believed Praxton probably would've supported, Raven had much more steel to her words than she probably should have.

It wasn't Raven's day. She probably wouldn't be friends with Orar today.

[Orar]

"I didn't make the order, just doing what I was told. Talk to Mand'alor if you want," he said, looking from Raven to Dex. A light groan underneath his helmet, "But I've got Mand'alors word, and his word is what I follow Cadera. So, if neither of you mind?" Orar said with derision as he collected himself and pushed on passed Dex. Making his way down a few more doors into the room where they had been holding him.

[Dex]

Dex's eyes darted from one of them to the other and back. Orar taking his leave catching her off-guard as she looked between the two and pushing past her without her being able to manage up a defense. Shock took hold of her gaze as she focused on Raven for a moment and froze.

"Orar, stop!" she called out as she started to give chase again.

[Raven Cadera]

Raven put her hand to her face, or rather the front of her helmet as she forgot for a moment she was wearing it, trying to think quickly about this mess.

The man would die, there was nothing she could do to stop it. Perhaps she could've if she had managed to care about his well-being, but she was... tired and angry.

"Wait." Kriff. She turned and followed. "... I demand to at least speak with him first, before he dies, as it was my partner who was attacked. I want to know why."

She put a hand on Dex's shoulder to make the girl stand down at least. But moreso, she hoped that Dex understood that the man's life was forfeit.

[Orar]

Orar stopped in the door, half turned in it with enough space that Raven could squeeze through if she wanted. However, he seemed to watch Dex warily. "Be my guest, Cadera," he indicated for her to walk through with a wave.

[Dex]

Dex went wide eyed when Raven stopped her. Looking between Orar and Raven, not quite sure of herself on what was going on.

Taking a deep breath, Raven squeezed Dex's shoulder to reassure her. Though what she was about to say would probably not be reassuring. A part of her wanted to just punch out Orar now, save this Raider's life, for some stupid reason, only because she thought it would protect Dex... but it wouldn't. Sometimes protecting one's family did not lead to easy choices.

"Dex. It is already decided." It took much of her willpower to remain calm as she said this. "Do not do anything rash."

With that, she let go of her foundling, and walked towards the open door. Her visor faced Orar's as she squeezed past him.

[Dex]

Dex looked up to Raven with a hopeful look to her. However, when the words came Dex's gaze fell distant beyond Raven. It took her almost the whole of the moment she had before her thoughts caught up with reality and she surged forward. Reaching for Raven first but she already slipped through, finding her arm against the edge of the door instead, "I thought we were more than just some gang," she called out before..

[Orar]

Orar shut the door behind them. Moving away from the door he got a few more lights turned on in the room and directed Raven's attention toward the Raider that Dex had been speaking with at the wedding. He was manacled to the wall as best they could manage as the base didn't have a proper prison this was just an unadorned sleeping quarters much alike she herself had. Orar walked over toward the side and pulled the blaster off the his side, laying it in his hand while he waited for Raven to say her piece.
