(D8 EA) A Surprise or Two

[Varina Ordo]

Varina made her way through the spaceport on her crutches with surprising alacrity. Through sheer stubbornness, she seemed intent on proving that this was totally fine. Of course, learning it had been pointless if her leg was just going to recover on its own anyways... but such logic was not something she wanted to hear.

When she reached her intended destination, she did the most sensible thing: scream. If she had two functioning legs, she might have thrown something instead. "Manny! Manny! Let me in!"

[Manny Donos]

A short while later, and the ramp opened.

Manny dashed out, wearing his pants just on one leg and his shirt on just one arm (left leg, right arm). He also held two blaster pistols.

"What is it? What's going on?!?!"

[Varina Ordo]

"What the... put some pants on!" Varina said. She couldn't help but look a little (between her recent contemplations and her conversation about the "No Girlfriendness" of Manny) before lowering her head. "I'm not in any danger or anything. Just figured you'd answer the door... ramp? Whatever! You'd let me in like a normal person!"

[Manny Donos]

Manny was wearing boxers, at least. He looked at her, his eyes wide. "I thought there was some kinda danger or something..."

He frowned, looking down. "I can't put my pants on more without taking them off first..." He jerked his head towards the entrance. "C'mon. Come inside and I'll get you some kaf or something." He trudged back up the step, one pants leg dragging awkwardly.

[Varina Ordo]

"I thought I told you before that I don't like kaf," Varina said as she made her way up. At the very least, she was done looking him over. "Next time, I guess I'll have to call your comlink so you don't get all scared."

[Manny Donos]

"I wasn't scared I was worried." Manny said. "Imps were here earlier. Maybe they were chasing you or something! I don't know."

He shrugged, then frowned as he realized he was hearing more thumping than usual. He turned back, looking at her. Then at her feet.

"Why do you have crutches?" He asked, frowning.

[Varina Ordo]

"Mmhmm, Manny the Brave." Varina's smug look faded after she considered the situation more. "Imperials, though. That sounds pretty bad. I assume it didn't end in bloodshed or otherwise you'd be elsewhere."

She scowled when he checked out her crutches. "People get injured when they fight, don't they? My leg still hasn't recovered." The teen displayed her sense of balance by putting all her weight on her right leg. Then she tapped her left one a bit without flinching from pain or anything like that. "It'll get back to normal soon. Don't worry about it."

[Manny Donos]

"No, just a shakedown. You know Imps." He shrugged.

He made a face at her. "Go see a doctor. Threaten them into treating you, or whatever. Ummm... let's have a seat, I guess?" He lead the way back to the common room, walking slowly to make sure Varina could keep up. He did not adjust his clothing.

[Varina Ordo]

"Ah, well, maybe it's time for you to get out of here? Or do you need to break into their system or something?"

Varina sighed. "I did see a doctor. Several, in fact. They said I'm safe now but that I won't be able to move it again. Thing is, I don't think they get Mandalorians. We get shot all the time and recover just fine."

She didn't bother mentioning the clothes. It was kind of impressive that he didn't notice.

[Manny Donos]

"Oh, okay." Manny nodded. There was a brief pause. "Wait, what?" He did a double-take.

After a moment, he shrugged. "Well, you can get a new leg. One time, I thought I was gonna need to get a new leg, but then I realized that it was just asleep. I was stuck in a box for, like, two days. It was for a trick." He waved a hand. "You've got the money for it?"

[Varina Ordo]

"I just told you I don't need a new one though," Varina hissed. She pulled herself back, a bit sheepish. "It's just like when my limbs have fallen asleep too."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah, I guess so." Manny frowned. "It's just that usually when I have a problem, I do something about it. Like when the roof of Munch's shop got dirty, so I threw a firebomb up there. Boom, right away, I had a totally different problem!"

[Varina Ordo]

"What're you talking about? I always take care of my problems when I can! You know me, Manny. I'm not afraid of anything."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah." Manny said, giving her a funny look. "Totally."

After a few moments, he shrugged. "So... what's up? Or are you just here to hang? I just got a new sound system put in if you want to watch some stuff."

[Varina Ordo]

"I mean, it has been a bit, hasn't it? Other than doing work stuff, that is." Varina shook her head.

"Anyways, I got your card back for you. Surprised she kept it. Sorry your potential girlfriend is dead." She whipped out the idiot card, still a bit murky from the dried blood. "Figured you'd know how to best restore it."

[Manny Donos]

"Hey!" Manny said, excited. "That's..." he studied the card, "-super gross! Ewww!" Gingerly, he reached out and took it.

"Wait, she's dead?" He put the card on the table. "What all happened?"

[Varina Ordo]

"You're welcome," Varina said with a smirk. "Don't say I never do anything for you."

Her good humor left as she recalled the fight. "Ah, well, she's tied to the dude who stabbed Raven's husband. Turns out he wasn't at this place we raided but she was. How I got injured, actually."

[Manny Donos]

"And..." Manny chewed his lip for a few moments. "She's dead now? Is everyone else okay?"

[Varina Ordo]

"Yeah we got into a skirmish. People die in those, same as they always have." She'd tried to sound casual, frivolous even, but a bit of regret was still in there. "Anyways, I got the worst of it. I don't think any of the others actually fell unconscious in that fight."

[Manny Donos]

"Phew..." Manny sighed, shaking his head. "You Mandos are such badasses. I haven't had to shoot anyone in a while, and you're like 'eh, whatever, my leg will grow back'."

He stood up, moving over to the refrigerator. "Meanwhile, me, I get in a fight and I can shoot someone, but I throw up afterwards about half the time." He looked over. "Get you something? No kaf, but I've got... milk? And something else blue without alcohol."
