That's So Not Raven (Max 4)

She laughed softly. "I get that a lot. Then I also am often reminded that I am young - usually by my elders." Maybe if she had her family still, maybe she would've been a brat like Varina?

"Hmmmm... there were some interesting nobles from one of the Core Worlds, but I'm not sure I would call them interesting-interesting. See a lot of familiar faces here too, but... I suppose overall it's a fine party? A bit lacking in cheer and friendly fights than I'd prefer, but no one's killing eachother so that's a good sign right?"

"The old like to belittle the young. Make them feel like they are lesser because they have less experience." he said taking a drink "Usually don't understand some can be young but live very eventful lives."

He raised an eyebrow ridge at her "I had always heard a Mandalorian party without at least three deaths is deemed a dull affair?" it may have been hard to tell if he had been joking but after a beat the corner of his mouth curled up in a bit of mirth. "Considering how many of us are here its good there haven't been any fights. or arrests."

"Something like that." She smirked in agreement. Not that those elders didn't have a good point sometimes, but often they were thinking more of their own experiences and lives led.

At the comment on Mandalorian parties, Raven sighed and rolled her eyes. "I have no idea where that silly rumor came from, but I hear it often. Usually said by aruetiise. Maybe some holo-show made it up some time." Maybe that dreadful Warrior's Heart. "My people honor and respect the rules of hospitality as much as most cultures, you know. As a nomadic people, we understand the worth of hospitality, when resources can be sparse."

The contents of her glass were swirled around for a moment before she took a sip. "Spontaneous fights or brawls though? Those are common."

Deonis chuckled at the eye roll "Apologies. I couldn't help myself. Some bartender on Atrisia told me that one. Believed it, or that it wasn't far off, until I met you and yours." he said with a smile of appreciation "we could change the lack of brawling though. if you're looking to that is." he said smiling at her with a touch of mischief

Chuckling, she lifted her glass to toast to that. "I like the spirit of what you're saying, but... some other time? I think it would draw too much unwanted attention if we suddenly tore up the place."

And she felt reminded yet again that she didn't have her armor. Not that he had his either, but having beskar to absorb the blow was nice.

"Having a spar or just training tomorrow wouldn't be a disappointment compared to brawling here, hm?"

"Reaction here would be more fun." he said with a smile "But tomorrow will be fine too. It'll be nice to see if you are the warrior you appear to be." he chuckled a little. Raven was Mandalorian which spoke to her warrior prowess and she carried herself like someone that knew how to handle themselves but he had yet to ever see her in action.

"Likewise," she gave him a nod, taking a measure of his stature once more. "It's not often I get to have friendly bouts with outsiders, so I'm sure it will be a learning experience. Sword is your preferred weapon, if I recall correctly from that first meeting? You had a pretty sizeable vibroblade by your side."

"Indeed. Blasters have their benefits. Swords do too. Just as much or more damage. Less sound. Never jam or run out of ammo. Plus I was trained to use something like it so the vibroblade is the next best option." He explained

"All good points. I prefer versatility myself. Both blaster and blade," she tapped her chin in thought. "There is something more... personal, with being up close in a fight though. More skill, I feel, than just squeezing a trigger."

A casual shrug as if they were talking about the latest sport-game or the weather. "Whatever the situation calls for, eh? Gotta adapt on the battlefield."

He nodded along with her "blasters are certainly more practical. It also takes a special kind of person to run headlong into blaster fire to fight with a sword." He grinned a little.

"But yes it is more personal. Fighting a skilled opponent is much like dancing. The fluidity of it can be beautiful. It can be like many other things, anticipating your partner's moves. Trying to surprise them, reading them, feeling out their movements." He nods finding that sufficient.

"I've never been much for adapting, more a brute force style for me." He laughed a little

"Brute force certainly has its place, but it won't always win the day. Growing up and fending for myself, I learned I had to adapt and play it smart in a fight to win... before I started growing a head taller than a lot of folks," she grinned, knowing fully well she was taller than average and often towering over some men.

"But yeah, you nailed it there; the dance of a swordfight. There's a... an almost poetic feel to it, I think. Finding the rythm, anticipating the moves, matching it with your own." Raven looked over at him with some curiosity. "You said you'd been looking out for yourself for a while too, if I recall right, yes? I'd be happy to try to have a spar that is more about practice and teaching, if you like."

Deonis nodded "yeah been on my own for about 3 years total. Had a...friend? Caretaker? The person who rescued me from where I was. He was around before that." Therebwas a touch of sadness but it came and went quickly.

"An instructional spar would be very welcome. I'm sure we each have plenty to teach. Different styles and backgrounds are always good."

"While I can't teach you all I know, at least not all in a couple of hours," she smiled, but there was something behind it... a kind of sense of somberness, "I'll do my best to be a teacher. It's... something I need to work on too. To be better."

Raven focused away from the feeling that had come over here, and more back to the upcoming spar. "Some time in the morning then, perhaps?"

Deonis nodded "I look forward to it." He noticed the dip in mood but figured if it was something she wished to discuss she would.

He looked about a little "do you dance?"

She blinked. "D... dance? Like, uh, you mean like Sholua does or... uh, without the pole?" While Raven considered herself pretty agile, she felt pretty sure she'd snap the pole in half if she tried to do any of Sholua's stunts.

"I guess the answer is no regardless. I don't really know how to dance."

Deonis chuckled at the surprised Raven "no not like Shoula. That definitely doesn't seem like you. I meant more...normal dancing? The kind that people do at parties." At least in a lot of holes he had seen people danced at fancy parties. He wouldn't know this was his first time.

"I think I've seen some people do that," Raven chuckled too, shaking her head. "But, no, I don't know how to do that. Never was part of the things I learned growing up with my family, or on my own, or with my people now."

Deonis shrugged "from what I understand there are formal dances but most the time you just sort of feel the music."

He raised one eyebrow ridge at her "care to try? After all how can you say that swordplay is like a dance if you've never danced before?"

"I... hmmmm..." her brows furrowed for a moment, as she couldn't really deny that logic. "Sure. I suppose we can give it a try. I apologise now for any feet I might step on. Yours included."

With a grin she held out a hand to Deonis.

He took the hand and moved to an open space. A dance floor if their was one, if not just away from a crowd "if I can take a repeating blaster to the chest, I'll be fine if you step on my toes." He said with a smile and a quick wink.

"Now I've never done this with a partner before. Should just be able to follow my lead though." He got into a more formal dance start, considering a place like this probably had fancy people music. He had his hand in hers and his other on her waist "just place you hand on my arm."
