As the group races on they pass through the section of the race which has been labeled Deadman's Run, and with recent events that's even more true as the race takes the participants straight through Gonk Territory. There's some hope that they'll be too fast to be taken an interest too but...
Before Taking Your Turn:
All racers must make a Piloting Check at Hard with One Challenge Dice. Should they fail, they take 10 wounds before soak and lose 1 Speed as a fired Bolt from one of the Gonks impacts with you and your vehicle!
On a despair, your Vehicle suffers the Engine Damaged Critical and loses 1 point to it's Maximum Speed.

With the sense of danger kicking into his awareness, Qar gained some clarity. He swerved off the path that was all to easy to become a trap and most certainly was and took a high road along the catwalk-like steel ledge that once served as the roof support of some building. There, he sped up, exhilarated, well knowing that only a marksman of true skill would manage to hit him at this speeds. Fortunately the Gonks didn't have one handy; the added bonus was a breath of fresher air, away from the industrial stench of decrepit urban landscape.

His bike seemed glad as well, restoring its factory settings smoothness of the ride. Shots behind were for the others. A tinge of vanity tickled his chest, but he didn't give in to the sensation. As one good musician once sang, it ain't over till it's over.

Korvin's strategy of drafting the green man on the souped up bike rapidly becomes untenable as the course becomes even worse going, but he's hardly giving up on things. Feeling a crystal clear sense of the various dangers in his path, the young Pantoran slices his path through...

Claymore is able to maintain speed before the Deadman's Run and even got out a gonk for good measure with his Forward-Mounted Light Repeating Blaster. The controls were still giving problem piloting, but what kind of Mando would have been if he couldn't shoot something along the way at least.

Qar was riding smoothly through the Gonk Territories, dodging bolts and giant bits of rubble in the path with ease as he zoomed through the Lower City. Korvin not far behind him and for most of the race alone in that position but not anymore. For a brief moment he could look over and see a fellow racer to his side, matching gazes for a moment in the heat of the race before Korvin pulls out ahead of him and rushes forward! Coming around the bend into the last leg of the race!
While the pack is still making it through the gauntlet! Claymore is drifting toward the back of the pack as the racers rush forward but he takes the opportunity and blasts one of the gonk-holes that had blaster fire coming out of it, a scream reaching out from deep within the rubble that he can hear just as he rushes by! While up ahead he can see the pack dodge blaster fire left and right with the sole exception of the racer whom was just ahead of him for most of the race getting blasted to smithereens! Crashing against a ruined structure in a heap of fire and metal as Claymore rushes through it!
At the back he's neck and neck with one of the other racers as they come around the bend.

While the road is mostly clear to give them the best way out of Gonk Territories the quickest this leg of the race has a bridge off to the side. Old stonework that went over an ancient river which ran through the city it's bound to crumble at any moment.
[The Bridge:]
Any racer who attempts to go over the bridge can do so with their action but must roll a d10, if the result is lower than a 5 the bridge starts to collapse. If it begins to collapse the racer going over the bridge upgrades the difficulty of their roll twice. A Despair and failure causes them to be lost in the collapse. However, if they cross it they gain a +1 to Speed that may go over their limit for this round only as they jump across the finish line.
Racers may attempt to cross this bridge in order of placement. It is meant for a last ditch potential at mixing up the placements.
Additional Modifiers:

It's a trap. Qar thought, and chose the regular way instead, but punched the Repulsorlift Thrusters. Winner's Mile was meant to be his. It never gets easier, you just have to go faster. He reminded himself as his Dart was darting toward the finish line with ungodly speed.

Korvin considers the suspect bridge for half a heartbeat before he sees Qar's extra bike thrusters take it into a higher gear and the distance starts to lengthen. Eyes flashing daggers, he keeps one eye on the leading bike but also readies some last maneuvers to cut off any trailing bikes that try to make a fast break for the finish line...

Qar, racing toward the finish line with great speed, crosses it nearly uncontested but with the young Korvin close behind. Korvin who was riding the choice between the bridge and the mile all the way up to the end before forcing the other racer at his neck onto the bridge. Racing alongside one another the other racer began to climb higher toward the jump as the bridge began to collapse underneath him. Korvin had a front row seat, glancing between the other racer and the road ahead as they race toward the finish line. However, just before getting to the jump the bridges collapse finally caught up and Nartino fell into the rubble, likely never to be seen again!
Rushing in with the rest of the pack, Claymore manages toward the front of them and enjoys the last half of the race and arrives just in time to witness a bottle of bubbly pop off over Qar's vehicle.
Final Placements:

3. Claymore Wren.
[Saving myself the rolls, maintained racers at their current speed save for Nartino whom was taken in by Better Luck.]
