Backup Plans [Day 9, EA]

[Sera]

"No schematics but.." she says, glancing around the space and then pointing toward a datapad on the nearby table. "I took a few shots as a tourist when I was walking through the main port myself. Some things may change but that'll give you a basic idea of what we're looking at," she says, and with that turning her attention to Richo.

"Like Raven said, stealth and swiftness will be our best two weapons so I'm looking to keep the team small. I can get five of you in there with little problem, five of the best fighters we've got," she glances around the room,"but.. I need to make sure you're all away of this. This missions.. risky beyond belief, I can't promise it'll work and it's likely to turn against us fast. If you come along, you're risking a lot for us and we'll never forget it but I'll understand if anyone wants to walk away."

On the datapad there are pictures which show the field of battle they're working with. A long road leads from the main building out to a singular landing pad with a security tower overlooking the path directly and some others in the distance. Two pathways appear noticeable, one under and one over. With at lease a couple service walks that lead up to the walkway from the sides and have access to the main path itself as it leads from the building, this service walk is likely the best and only entry point for the team.

''I am aware we need to keep our numbers low, this is not my first mission'' he replied impassive ''But if we want to maximize our chances to get the girl out alive and well we need to know who will be there and plan according to their strengths. The team must also take a crash course on how they should work together.''

He nodded to Deonis and Solork

''I know how this one fight and the other is my brother in arms but I do not know what the other two can do''

(Sholua might be here, since there was some confusion on the nature of the meeting. Will let them chime in when they get back online )

Raven didn't feel the need to boast of her accomplishments and skill, and was instead busy looking over the pictures Sera had provided. Pulling out her own trusty-rusty datapad, she was checking it with some notes of her own.

A get-away ship might be what they needed instead of trying to get through the entire spaceport with Petra. I'll have to ask Manny what weapons and shields his ship has...

OOC: Warfare perhaps to notice anything that might be beneficial for either point of attack or a getaway route? Thinking perhaps that escaping to another hangar with a ship ready to take off might be easier?

It wasn't the stroke of genius she had for springing Carid's trap before, but Raven hadn't lost her touch.

"A ship in a nearby hangar might be a better escape point than attempting to get out of the spaceport the same way as coming in. Ship-guns will also be good cover-fire for a few moments until the team can get onboard, as they'll be pursuing with regular weapons and not anti-ship ones. Might have to mean that Petra takes a trip off-planet, but that might be better than trying to hide her here on Bellionas after such a rescue."

Her armored hand gently pushed Sera's datapad to the center of the table for others to take a gander.

"That is assuming the ship can lift off. If the space port goes into lockdown we would be trapped"

"Possible," she agreed with a shrug, not above admitting flaws in the plan she had thought up on the spot, "but that would also cut off their own getaway. Talcik and her Cinder Squad might be the closest thing I would say the Empire has to warriors rather than just soldiers, based on my encounter with one of them on Kamda, but I would imagine that they would still prioritize getting Doctor Novar and Petra out of there."

The visor looked over the others, stopping at Sera. "A slicer on the inside in the spaceport could also override such lockdowns. We do have some of those here, if they want to take the risk."

While not one of the heavy hitters, Dhel's quietly slipped into the room at some point, listening to the planning. With her vested interest in the operation, she wants to stay informed.

The thought of having to leave Bellionas to keep everyone safe...yeah, that might not be the worst thing. She settles quietly into a seat near Raven to listen.

Spotting Dhel near, Raven reached out and patted the Bothan reassuringly on the shoulder.

"Give me a little bit more time to pour over this alright? Feel free to look at what Sera got and talk amongst you in the meantime..." tapping her own datapad, she was trying to imagine the scenario more clearly.

Sholua also gave Dhel a pat on the shoulder, and a 'It WILL be all right' look. Then she addressed J-Richo.

"You want to know what I can do? I've been fighting since I was six years old. I can hold my own and I can get in to places that armour or yours won't let you. Also . . . "

There was a snap hiss as her lightsaber ignited. The grey crackling beam coruscated with miniature lightning strikes trying to figure out all the locations of the many weapon and armour power sources close by.

". . . the time for hiding is over. This is mine and I assure I know how to use it."

The weapon was doused and returned to it's hiding place.

"Also, Honey asked me to help. That's more than enough reason for me."

[Solork Tan]

"Is there anything vulnerable around the Spaceport: tabanna gas storage, power cabling?" Sol muses aloud. "I would enjoy forcing them to choose between save the Spaceport and dealing with us"

(Maybe mechanics to look for any structural weak points or workplace hazards that can be exploited?)

As the lightsaber ignited J-Richo could'nt help but grunt and shook his head

He returned his attention to the map then got an idea

''Wait...why don't we get cheeky? There is one transport there that won't be locked down and may very well get ready to leave when the action begins so we can follow Caderra's idea: theirs.'' he looked over the map

''It would be logical of them to rush to their transport, or at least get the VIPs in there, once we make our entrance. We can try to turn that to our advantage''

Sol looks over at J-Richo and inclines his head before looking at Shoula. "If you are bringing that out, then we *really* have no need to contain things.

"Do we have a pilot who can handle it? That craft will be incredibly hot the moment we leave in it, so if we can hide out for a while, it's worth thinking about"

[Raven Cadera]

"Yeah, I'm not a pilot and it will be pretty hot... hmmm... I wasn't thinking earlier about the spaceport's anti-ship defenses either." She was still looking down at her datapad, making notes and trying to bring it all together rather than just having jumbled thoughts in her head.

She sighed. If this mission had her usual team, in addition to a fully-recovered Praxton, Dredgen, Kagr, and Bura... then she would've gone for something different, but her team had a high chance of being injured prior to this, and while she had Dredgen, she didn't have the others.

"... As tempting as it would be to take out Novar, I think that will have to be shelved. If she dies, Talcik and her squad will go all in for retribution and will do so without the added burdened of guarding someone. As tough as they are, they are soldiers - their task is protecting doctor Novar. Keeping Novar alive is actually our advantage here against them. Taking her hostage to cover our escape could possibly work, but that's a whole can of worms with uncertainities, not to mention dragging along someone resisting will probably slow us down more than anything, I don't see it being a strong enough advantage to consider. However, once we have Petra, and we put some heat on doctor Novar's safety, they might be harried enough to consider it a priority to get the doctor out rather than fighting us."

Another tap at her datapad. "What we could consider as a point of escape... the extended platform that is for VIP traffic is surrounded by the ocean, with the walkway extending out into the attached harbor. It's a risky one, as it will cut us off from the way we came in, but... might be an option to consider the waterway, if we have anything that could pick us up there. Anything in the water could likely be safe from the anti-ship defenses of the spaceport."

Korvin was leaning against a wall with an unchanging look of concern. He wasn't following Dhel everywhere she went like a puppy, but he was notably more clingy than the first two weeks of their relationship.

He has nothing useful to contribute to the conversation, and figures someone is going to tell him to stay home, but dogged determination shines in his golden eyes.

[OOC: If we have a cap on participation in the event then Korvin doesn't have to participate, but good luck convincing him IC to be anywhere but where Dhel is.]

Zim was *really* worried about Petra since what had happened before, so when she heard a group might be talking about how to actually get the girl to safety, she had to show up.

She kept silent while hearing the others discuss the plans for now - she was definitely *not* a heavy-hitter. But maybe she could help in some way at least...

The Karkarodon entered, just at the tail end of Raven's briefing. A lot on his mind, but he was all in on the resistance. There was a sense of joy at seeing Sholua's saber. Another returning to what they were, what they could be.

The Padawan Shark wasn't a planner. He was a doer. He'd let the smart people like Jyr and Raven handle strategy. When that met those doing wrong? That's where he came in.
