Backup Plans [Day 9, EA]

[Raven Cadera]

Finally putting her finger on the voice, Raven looked to Sol for a moment again, piecing together what she was hearing.

Straightening her shoulders, she decided this was not the time or place to tackle that issue. "Solork. I would wish to speak with you another time, on a topic unrelated to this."

Looking back to the matter at hand, she nodded to Korvin, and the others. "Fast boat could work, maybe. Some input there on those more local and knowledgeable to the area would be good too. Whoever is going in, the better we prepare for possibilities ahead of time to make sure it's a success."

Deonis sat and watched it all unfold he wasn't a planner he was a warrior the hows of getting in and getting out weren't something he would be helpful with. He say many join the meeting that had dubious battlefield applications. Dhel got a long look and then a nod.

When Shoula ignited her Saber Deonis looked to her for a bit, it wasn't really surprise given their shared research project but it was an interesting gesture.

Deonis pulled out his own metallic cylinder of black metal almost twice the size of Shoula's and set it on the table. He looked to J-Richo "seems like you'll have plenty of people in your shot." His voice was mildly amused

He chuckled

''Heheh, you force people have no respect for good marksmanship. Let's hope the security team won't be all melee.'' he leaned back on his chair

''Still, if a bunch of people can rush the girl's guard we might hope for a fairly quick extraction while I distract the rest with explosions.'' he paused for a second

''What about an underwater approach? We could sneak in that way and launch the assault. The boat could start out of sight and run into position once we are ready to extract as to not draw too much fire or attention to it initially''

He chuckled

''Heheh, you force people have no respect for good marksmanship. Let's hope the security team won't be all melee.'' he leaned back on his chair

''Still, if a bunch of people can rush the girl's guard we might hope for a fairly quick extraction while I distract the rest with explosions.'' he paused for a second

''What about an underwater approach? We could sneak in that way and launch the assault. The boat could start out of sight and run into position once we are ready to extract as to not draw too much fire or attention to it initially''

"Your value as a ranged assault platform certain seems greater." Sol replies playfully.

"There is an issue with water damage to equipment if we go through the water. We would need to water seal it in advance, yes? I don't know if we have that kind of time"

[Sera]

"I need to make one thing abundantly clear-" she looks to Solork, "We are not here to put any innocent lives in jeopardy. Setting off an explosion? Making them choose between the Spaceport and their target? Not only do I know exactly what the Empire will choose but you'd put countless lives in jeopardy that have nothing to do with this conflict. Should you see an opportunity like you described? You avoid it. Understood?"

With that stated, Sera looks to the rest, "If we can get to her before they get to that ramp will be good.. but it seems if we don't make it in time we'll have to start making hard choices. I can get us in by ground but.. having a boat crew to get us out?" she looks around to those here, focusing on Korvin a moment as she'd be apprised of his skill, but glancing around the room. "Now, that would be something we could manage. Less likely to have a response to a speedy craft with a good pilot behind if we call it in at the right time."

" I wasn't-" Sol sighs and raises both his hands into the air, shaking his head.

"Miss Sera, with respect, I would like to point out that this mission, even if things go cleanly, was bound to cause blowback. Seeing some of the "devices" that have just been brought out, I can assure you that is operation is going to rain a special kind of hate down on Bellionas."

" I am not disuading you from doing this. If blowing an electrical junction or another attack on the infrastructure of the Spaceport has too high a risk of collateral damage for the mission parameters then so be it. I can work with that. I can even work with this potentially being a suicide mission. But please, let us not pretend that innocent people won't pay the price this, because they will, because a visible assault on their authority will not go unanswered. All we can hope for is that when the butcher's bill comes due, that we have done more good than harm and that it was worth it."

"So yes, I understand." Sol looks around the room.

[Dhelih Dotaivi]

Dhel's head comes up. "Yeah, they'll respond, we're all good and aware of that after all this time. That's different from a lot of folks not coming home because they're doing maintenance in a building that explodes easy and made a nice distraction if you want people to keep supporting what we've tried to do."

"And those..." she points at the light sabers on display. "Are going to get you almost as much pushback from everyone here who remembers what they were doing here 10 years back. Put them together with mass destruction and folks here will be all too happy to let the Empire come and restore order again." There's something of shame to the way she shrugs and looks away.

"We'll go right back to figuring we're okay if we just hang on to a little bit of something by our fingernails and ignore how many people keep dropping down below where they can die out of sight." She'd done a pretty good job at ignoring lots of things year by year, after all. "Sera's right. You do that kind of thing and...well I'm still selfish enough to want it done to get Petra out. But she's gonna hate all of us for making it so nothing else changes in our lifetimes."

"All fair points. Which is why I have said I understood about infrastructure attacks. And to be clear, I was not advocating for deliberately harming civilians." Sol sighs, offering a heavy synth. "The lightsabers, at least, promise something more, a greater myth than terrorists. I just want to make sure that we are all on the same page as to the cost"

[Korvin Hikarrin]

Korvin's eyes had narrowed at the flashy sword coming out, and it takes him some time to know if he even wants to say anything.

At a lull in the raised voices, he comments, "Petra will be mad at us for saving her. She believes in the cause -- Bellionas and freedom -- maybe more than anyone besides Mara. And that's why we're rescuing her if we can. Other people will get hurt, the empire will try to strike back -- but we can't let another one of the small sparks of light for independence go out."

"We'll need a way to get off world or be deep hidden here. When more imperials come, time will be on their side to find Petra and anyone else they can identify." He looks at Dhel, as worried as before. "So once we get her, no looking back, just full throttle to the safest place we can think of, right?"

He goes back to leaning on the wall, still keeping an eye on Dhel but comfortable at least that he's made clear how far he's willing to go.

Dhel looks back at Korvin, appraising, then nods. "Yeah, we know the cost as much as we can without being in the middle of it. We're a world that's done a lot of surviving."

"I know I'm not...tactical or any kind of fighter though, so I do still have to trust you all about what can be done in the scope of things." She looks at Solork, "But no, there's no greater myth to those here. Almost everyone you meet who isn't somehow connected to one to know better? That lot were part of the same folks that are the Empire now. They aren't remembered fondly for the most part."

There's no accusation to her voice. She's learned differently, and others can too, eventually. She reaches over to pat Sholua's knee. "That can change, but probably not by tomorrow."

[Deonis Harik]

Deonis spoke up "But if we want it to change it has to start somewhere." he ignites his own blade a massive crimson beam of light "These blades mean different things to different people." he turned it off again the red light retreating back into the black metal hilt "more important is what they will mean. What we will make them mean. The people holding them are more important than the blades. The blade is a tool. a weapon. We are the Resistance."

"The people of Bellionas might fear and hate them now. We will show them they are not something to be feared. We will show them they are just another tool. One that can be used for oppression. Or one to be used to fight it."

[Raven Cadera]

"The operation should and will be clean and efficient, like a surgical strike," Raven added in, raising her voice slightly in the manner of someone who was used to commanding loud and proud warriors who also liked to shout their opinions. The Cascader also did its job in enhancing the command of her tone. "The reason why is not only because of the lives at risk, but because the Empire will use any thing we do here to tear down the efforts of Mara's people. If civilians die, it will be labeled a terrorist attack and the populace will turn against all the efforts so far. Propaganda is a powerful tool."

Sighing, she focused back to Sera. "See what you can do about a quick watercraft, Sera. It might be the better option to consider for the getaway. It needs to be fast as hell though, with a good driver, and a clear idea of where to head once Petra's onboard. I can arrange for a combat-medic to be on the boat or at the safepoint, if it's needed."

And then even more sabers were lighting up. "Can you kids put away your kriffin' glowsticks for a hot minute here?!"

[Sera]

"I would have to agree with that sentiment," she glances around, this time focusing on Deonis with a soft sigh. Shaking her head, she moves on, and looks to Raven, "I'll have to call in a few old.. debts, contacts, but it can be done. For Petra, it'll get done."

[Sholua Tempes]

She moved over to Sera.

"You have another team going into the Spire, yes? This might help them."

She passed over an Imperial passcard. A very authentic looking one. Because it was absolutely authentic.

"Hopefully Ensign 'Dimples' hasn't missed it yet."

[J-Richo Toboga]

''So...the five chosen will be Deonis, Solork...ehm Phro...Sholua and myself, right?'' he looked to all assembled ''Okay, so, I can shoot with a degree of area damage, I am fairly enduring and I will have good mobility with my jetpack'' he says

''Beyond those over glorified lightsticks, what can you do? Any Jedi trick we should be aware of?''

[Sera]

She moved over to Sera.

"You have another team going into the Spire, yes? This might help them."

She passed over an Imperial passcard. A very authentic looking one. Because it was absolutely authentic.

"Hopefully Ensign 'Dimples' hasn't missed it yet."

Sera takes it in hand, examining it for a moment as her eyes were a little wider with the sudden surprise. Seeing exactly what it was there was a brief smile as she looks to Sholua appreciatively, "Thank you for this. I'll be sure it gets into the right hands."

[Korvin Hikarrin]

Seeing Sho step forward reminded Korvin he also had something, carefully tucked inside his armor, to pass to Sera. He unzips his jacket and steps forward.

"Someone who knows me," he says in a voice that shows how alarming he'd felt that remark was, "passed this to me at the party. Definitely a map. That's about all I understand of it," Korvin says, sliding the document out and handing it to Sera.

"It seems that would be the team, yes..." she agreed, not feeling it right to claim herself to be on the rescue-op given her prior engagements. Either she'd be dead or probably limping away.

"Sholua and Phroth, is there anything you will need for the upcoming fight? I have some personal funds to spare for you two, to cover some things if need be." Mostly she was worried that they seemed so lightly armored, but... then again... Jedi did deflect blaster bolts.
