[Day 9 - Early Afternoon] Coming and Going

[Soleene Stryss]

Soleene was strolling around the city as the rain pelted down her and the rivulets of water rolling down her armour without really much regard. She contemplated the small things in her head, as well as the small possibilities that couldn't be helped with tonight's mission, and her walk brought her to the edge of the city where she had yet to visit yet. A large ship, likely a freighter, grabbed her attention as it took to the sky with its massive engines.

She supposed she never had seen the spaceport itself, considering that the Enclave took less official means to avoid Imperial hassle. Still, she was a bit curious to see what else was there and approached one of the exterior viewing platforms.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyrvess had been scarce the last few days, she was after all a spy at heart and probably had some inborn instinct to go to ground. Or else had just been busy doing a lot of boring but necessary groundwork to whatever plans the librarian had.

As it happened to today she had chosen to observe the spaceport and found a familiar face....helmet face, though one she only knew in passing.

"The place isn't as busy as some of the major ones you see on the Core Worlds." Jyrvess casually remarked, stepping up to stand near the Mandalorian. "I hope I am not intruding."

[Soleene Stryss]

"On a core world, this place would have been plenty obvious from the outside. It's not exactly a tourist's spaceport with a duty-free mall." Soleene took her eyes off of the freighter as it went off to join the stars in the sky and nodded at Jyrvess. They didn't really talk much since that first day and Manny really managed to overpower that interaction with his presence. And those eggs.

She gave her a wave over to invite her closer. "No, you're not. I was just taking a walk. You're Jyrvess, right?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Correct, Mrs. Soleene yes?" Jyrvess dipped her head in response, "Enjoying watching the ships come and go, or this a business viewing?"

Her thoughts turned to some of the other operations that had been going on. "Not a bad vantage point for either."

She took a look around, nodding to herself.

[Soleene Stryss]

"Miss Soleene..." She said with a corrective tone that seemed to indicate some surprise in the use of the title. "Actually, you're more than fine with just calling me Soleene, everyone does. Are you always this formal, even among the Mandalorians? Raven spoke pretty fondly of you, actually, so you must have been around us for a while."

"This is just a leisure thing, yeah. Just watching these things come and go. I used to imagine what it would be like to hop on one of these things and see where it'll take me." She said before allowing a pause to settle. "Turns out, it's probably more fun watching these things than being on them."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Soleene then," Jyrvess's lip upturned a bit, "Raised in the Core Worlds and had a few years of lying low...old habits. A polite person tends to not draw as much attention. Just a face in the crowd."

She nods down to the spaceport, "Depends really, some people can't stand being on planet for more then a day or three. True spacers you might call them, running the trade lanes so long they don't know and don't want to know anything else."

"If you want my own opinion on space travel though...like most things its all about the company you keep in transit." The librarian chuckles then goes more serious, "But it can be terrifying to, if you are just running. Its a horrible rolling emotion of safety for having stayed a head of pursers and the realization you are trapped in a metal box with a bunch of people who you don't know."

[Soleene Stryss]

"That depends on the company, doesn't it?" She looked at Jyrverss questioningly. "With a title in front of my name, you'd think that I was a manager of a dance club or the pit boss of a gambling ring...None of those are formal positions but the titles tend to differentiate from random goon or faceless mook."

That gaze seemed trained on Jyrvess for a while without anything to say. Despite not showing a reaction with the helmet on, there was a hint of surprise through it, perhaps? "Yeah, you've said it best...being on the run was never fun, Miss Jyrvess. I travel just fine if I need to but I can't imagine living in a metal box for a long period of time. I guess luxury crafts have all the room but I don't think I'll get too many chances to board one of those ships."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"All it takes is a little money, and Jyrvess is fine," She chucked, "and if you want to know the truth of it...my favorite trips were more general in tone. Passenger class without all the frills, nice enough you aren't sleeping next to an engine with one eye open and on the engineer. But you also aren't having to deal with the insufferably polite wait staff wanting to know if you are very happy with your bed Miss Soleene. Would you like some more ice brought to your room Miss Soleene. Have tried the Corellian Rhyscate, Miss Soleene? I promise it is from Corellia itself!" Her tone as she spoke was clearly in mocking some long distant waiter. It shifted to a more deadpan and irritable tone. "I can promise you, as someone that has had the real thing, it wasn't."

"Ah lot's of people have titles, only a few have meaning and even fewer were earned." Jryvess glances up, "I have to admit I am a little surprised though. You Mandalorians never strike me as a group that lingers overlong in one place. And no running isn't, despite what some cheap spy vids might tell you."

[Soleene Stryss]

"I guess I'm not really asking for that much, not to the point where all the waiters in the galaxy are hounding after you." She snickered at the mention of the wait staff. "But honestly, some extra ceiling space where you don't end up hitting your head when standing up from your bunk...maybe also some space where you can stretch without hitting someone in the face with your elbow, unintentionally...all of that really goes a long way. They don't usually spare all of that stuff when you're travelling Utility class. You really missed an event yesterday, though."

Her tone would indicate that she didn't really miss all that much, in her opinion.

"I don't think titles really come all that easily among the Mandalorians and I personally would prefer it that way. I think we already have more than a few differences we can graft on to each other when it comes to our gear and stay but we're not going to have someone walk around with the title 'The Killer' so easily like it was awarded to them from a weekend adventure."

She shrugged on the matter of running when it was brought back. "I don't run so much anymore as travel but I would say that I've done my share of running in the past. Staying wherever my family goes is what I do now. How about you, what keeps you in a certain place?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"I have been to such things before...I should have been to that one but, well I know a fair few individuals in the Empire who would be over eager to speak to me." Jyrvess waves it off, "Those events are all roughly the same if you are wondering. Part viper's nest, part zoo, and part daycare."

"...very little keeps me in place these days. I don't run anymore..." Jyrvess rubs her temple, "Ok I don't constantly run, sometimes a quick jaunt is necessary though. But now when I move it is by my choice. I suppose if...well I had to stay in one place I have found your people's cause something more then just my own to strike back at the..." Her eyes drift to a distant Imperial guard post.

[Soleene Stryss]

"I can respect needing to keep a low profile at such things but I don't think they'll be letting me back there anytime soon..." She said with a casual glance around the area before looking back at Jyrvess. "That is a very fitting description of the place. I can definitely see where the daycare comes into play and it doesn't do well to soften the fangs in the slightest. I don't think I'm terrible at this social thing, I just don't like to find myself around people that insufferable."

"Is this about a bit of revenge, huh?" She asked with a tilt of her head. "Was this also the same case back at Kamda, too?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"I won't lie and say that there isn't some hint of that..." Jyrvess frowned then shook her head, "But its not what drives me no. It's about stopping them from doing what they want to people. And restoring some dignity to those they grind under their heels."

Glancing back up at the sky again, the ex-spy crosses her arms and contemplates their position in the galaxy. "Kamda I was still running, but found a reason to stop on that world. A cause if you will."

[Soleene Stryss]

"That's a righteous cause and the Enclave does support it for a very good reason, seeing as we're not exactly too fond of the Empire either." She shrugged as she crossed her arms. "This is a bit new to me admittedly, it's never really crossed my thoughts that much to go directly against the Empire. It was just never something I thought that could happen, kind of the assumption you can't stop water from being wet."

With that, she did glance upward at the rain that was pelting down from above.

"It probably hasn't really entered people's thoughts until they felt some chance of making it happen. So is this usually how it starts?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"The Empire rules through fear." Jyrvess turns back to the guard post, "Fear of retribution and reprisal. It's a powerful system but a fragile one, once the fear is gone or the anger to hot..." She closes her fist then pops it open with a soft 'boom' for emphasis. "There will be more Kamdas and Bellionas, and many defeats...that is how it always is when you fight the powerful....but we only need a few key victories and it all comes down. And those victories will come. Even the defeats will be useful, to learn and prepare for the next time."

[Soleene Stryss]

Soleene couldn't help but chuckle at the end of Jyrvess's words. Before any misunderstanding or offence could be taken from her laugh, she put her hand and clarified herself.

"...Sorry about that. I wasn't laughing at you. Actually, I like the sound of that. It does sound pretty awesome, especially when you break it down in small steps like that. Well, none of those things are actually small. Just parts to crumble a large whole. It almost sounds pretty hopeful." She nodded on that note.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyrvess blinked at the laugh but smiled briefly at the words, though when she spoke again it was more solemn, "It is unfortunate though that those defeats will have to be paid for. But to continue resisting is the only way to win and every victory will be notable. No one expects the weak to triumph over the strong."

"We do have another thing going for us...the Empire has already grown arrogant in its power. Arrogance breeds laxity."

[Soleene Stryss]

"Sorry..." She said at first as her tone went to match the mood of what she was saying. "I didn't mean to make it sound cheap either. Obviously, a lot of people have already sacrificed much to taking part in this. Like I'm sure this Mara Kayde could have eeked out a comfortable life with whatever she had left but didn't choose to. Not to mention the people who died and whatever happened in Kamda. There's inspiring imagery to your words, the weak toppling the strong...the ones onto getting their unexpected comeuppance. Are you sure you haven't led one of these things before?"
