For Old Times' Sake

[Raven Cadera]

Raven gave her friend a shrug. "I don't see what that is supposed to mean. Sure you can say no. As you said, she doesn't own you, right?" A moment's pause. "Or is it about the money?"

Vex did pay rather handsomely, she knew. Cleaning out the Hutt-enforcers had been a good workout routine, one that had paid well.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Vex runs in circles where you have to be really careful how you say no." Jyrvess added, "Especially if you owe or have owed her something. But as far as those types...I have dealt with much worse. The guy I handed the ISB dossiers over to was a real piece of work. I try not to think what he probably did with the information in too specific a detail. Just glad when his crew dumped me off with my credits."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah, it's like that." Manny said, nodding at Jyr. "It's not new money, but old money. And you know, I do good crime now, smuggling and stuff. And Vex could make trouble for me doing that, if she wanted to."

He sighed. "So... how do I say no? I've never been good at saying no. Like that one time with Lysa after that big fight." He sighed again, smiling this time.

"I see, hmm..." Raven chewed her lower lip for a moment, not sure really on how to weigh in on that. When she had been more of a lone mercenary, she mostly had made sure that whoever employed her would be aware of the cost it would be to try to take her out. Vex on the other hand might be able to accept a bigger loss there than most...

But she noticed something else. "Hey, what's with that goofy smile?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Easiest when they don't have leverage, or you can disappear." Jyrvess shrugged, then her eyes narrowed, "...yeah actually why the weird smile?"

[Manny Donos]

"Nothing!" If anything, Manny's grin got goofier. "It's just, well, I guess I haven't seen her for a while. I was wondering how she's doing. Maybe she'd want to hang out or something."

He suddenly looked daunted. "Oh wow, it's been a year. That's a long time without..." He looked at the two women, "-uh, seeing her."

[Raven Cadera]

Raven watched him with suspicious narrowed eyes... then glanced to Jyr to get her assessement of all this. At least to her, Manny seemed very awkward.

Kind of like herself some time ago when Manny was calling Praxton her boyfriend.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyrvess nods quietly and seems to let the matter drop munching fruit.

Just as Manny feels maybe the danger as passed, "So how close was your relationship before she stopped seeing you." Jyr remarked in a casual tone.

[Manny Donos]

"It was just the one time!" Manny said suddenly. "Or, technically twice, but I don't think the second time really counts."

He coughed.

"I mean... we just hung out a bit, after that big fight. That's all. Just the one time." He coughed again. "And a half."

[Raven Cadera]

Raven blinked a few times, giving Manny a kind of awkward side-eye.

"Well..." she coughed, the cleared her throat. "Didn't think you had it in you. Or that... you... were Lysa's type..."

Not enough explosives for Lysa, she thought.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"I'm surprised how fast he works," Jyrvess continued to try on the fruit, "...I am going to assume this was after some particular bit of violence on Lysa's part. She does seem to be excitable after a few explosions and body parts flying around."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah... I think it was probably all the explosions..." Manny sighed. "I just need to find a nice girl who likes magic without needing to see a bunch of explosions before wanting to... you know..." He shifted awkwardly.

He suddenly frowned. "Wait. If I'm looking for someone who doesn't need to see a bunch of explosions..." He gestured around. "This is a terrible place to look, isn't it?"

[Raven Cadera]

"Well..." Raven tapped her chin again in thought. "Not all Mandalorians like explosions. Some prefer stealth over loud bangs and noises... hmmm... unsure how most of those would feel about magic though."

But then again, most Mandalorians should have some training in stealth.

[Manny Donos]

Manny looked at her skeptically. "I mean, Varina likes stabbing people in the throat. But I'm pretty sure of all the people who were in that one club fight, I was the only one who threw up afterwards." He tilted his head, thoughtfully. "Come to think of it, that was one and a half times, too."

He shook his head. "Anyway. I'm sure I'll find someone who loves magic someday. And Raven, I'm glad you found someone who loves armor like you." He turned his head to look at Jyr. "And Jyr, you'll find someone who loves..." there was a pause as Manny considered, "-graphs?"

[Raven Cadera]

Raven cocked her head to the side for a moment.

"Graphs?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"There are some enticing curves," Jyr responds in a dry tone then leans back and her voice grows more serious, "I don't have time for that these days. Once the Empire is defeated, I think I would like to find someone."

She smiles a little to herself, "Climb one mountain at a time."

[Manny Donos]

"Okay, sure, if that's what you're into." Manny agreed. "I just thought graphs, because, well, you know." He nodded. The answer was totally obvious.

He frowned, crossing his arms, looking at Jyr. "Once the Empire is defeated? That sounds like a really long ways off." He said, his tone gently curious.

[Raven Cadera]

"Ah."

Raven had a rather amused smile as she looked at Jyrvess. The kind that said she knew something that she wasn't saying. "Well, who knows what the future holds, hm?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"We can be optimistic, the Empire is built on fear and cruelty." Jyrvess leaned forward, "Not the most stable of foundations to build a nation with. Soon as enough people learn that need not possess the former or tolerate the later."

"So how do you like being a big time space captain now Manny?"

[Manny Donos]

"Big time? Yeah, right." Manny grinned. The grin slowly faded. "It's alright, I guess. I mean, I like being able to do things, and help out and stuff. That's great..." He paused a moment, frowning.

"It's a lot of work, though. I mean, it's like, did I remember to stock up on supplies, did I remember to get enough fuel, is all the cargo secured, what are all those alarms for..." He shook his head. "Just a lot of stuff to deal with."

He chewed his lip a moment. "You think having a ship would mean you're free, you can go anywhere. But... you can't, not really."
