[Manny Donos]

"Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..." Manny said at Dhel. "Manka! The cat! So then he'l be Manka cat!"

He frowned curiously at the kitten. "Or... she'll? Uh... which ones were which again?"

[Raven Cadera]

"Alright... I came here for books. Ended up with a cat." Raven chuckled, trying to think of how she was going to take care of a cat. Dredgen probably knew because that one seemed to know a bit about everything.

"Oh, and books too." She held up the two she had picked up. "Could probably find more if we stay here longer, but... I suspect I could spend hours here trying to look for anything of interest."

[Dhelih Dotaivi]

"That one's a she. Don't know about the others,"Dhel says, stroking one finger down the exploring kitten's back before bending to pick up her book. "Can cats manage ok on a ship?"

She looks up at Raven. "Yeah, there are a lot here to go through; it would take forever. Who knows...maybe I'll come more regularly if I like this one. Well...assuming it's not too expensive at least." The last is added thoughtfully as she carries it toward the counter.

[Manny Donos]

Manny shrugged. "Sure, no problem. I mean, we already have a bunch of fish. Cats like fish, right? I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that somewhere. I think it was a cartoon I saw where every time this cat saw a fish, his eyes turned into hearts."

"Which books did you get?" He asked Raven, craning his neck to look at her choices.

[Raven Cadera]

"It's..." Raven glanced at the titles, brows furrowed in concentration at reading the very academic-sounding title. And because she didn't want to mess up reading it out loud. "Uh... some kind of academical work. Dissertations?" She had no idea what that meant. "But from what I could gather looking at the info, it seems to be about someone writing about a war or something. So that sounds like it could be interesting."

Shifting her grip a little to accomodate Battle Cat she could hold up the two books for them to look.

Manny stared at the two books. There was a short pause.

"I don't understand any of the words on either of those." He declared.

[Raven Cadera]

Oh no, am I as dumb as Manny? This can't be happening, Raven hid her frown by pressing her lips together into a thin line. She really would have to ask Jyr for private lessons in the near future.

"It's... history? Yeah. Like real analysis of historical events. And stuff." Honestly, she was just trying to explain it to Manny! Not trying to make herself look smarter!

[Manny Donos]

Manny straightened again, looking at Raven. "Wow." He said. Nnnnnnnnnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd! Well, whatever, he knew some pretty cool nerds.

"That's great, Raven! I'm sure Praxton will love those. I mean, if he can understand them. And the kitten. He likes animals, right?" Manny grinned at her, clearly enthusiastic.

Dhel nods absently at Manny's understanding of cat care. She'd ask around and learn about litter boxes in the uncharted future sometime.

As for Raven's books. Well, she understood the word 'history' at least?

She looks at Raven's pile. "So he's like shy, and super smart? I may actually know all about him before I ever meet him at this rate."

With purchasing glossed over so the invisible shopkeeper doesn't need a real description, she's happy to enjoy the game of keeping kittens occupied on the way home.

[Raven Cadera]

"I wouldn't say super-smart, that's like for people who have a degree in being smart. But yeah, he's smart, knows a lot, reads..." she blushed sheepishly, busying herself with paying for the books first before continuing. "Guess you could say he's the brains and I'm the charm, in our little duo?"

After all, she couldn't say she was the brawns when he was the stronger fighter of the two.

Dhel laughs. "There's degrees in being smart? Huh."

"Are you actually going to name it Antilles?" She distracts the little panther while Raven's making her purchase, holding it in one hand as it wrestles with the clawed fingers of the other.

[Manny Donos]

"Antilles is a great name for a cat." Manny nodded. "Or for a kid. It works for a boy or a girl!" He looked at Raven, but Manny did have better sense than to suggest that the newlywed Raven name her firstborn Antilles. Yes, he did.

After a moment, he smiled. "But hey, that sounds like a great pairing. See, it's just like I said. Marriage is like getting a sexy bro for life." Manny nodded, confident in his comparison.

Dhel offers a skeptical frown, raising her eybrows questioningly at the actually married person in the room. The kitten curls up on a fuzzy shoulder where it also seems to be watching the exchange.

[Raven Cadera]

"I... think maybe not. Don't want to cause confusion when you name a kid or pet Antilles, Manny." While that was certainly true, she had no intention if using the name Antilles for pets or kids.

"Think I'll see what name fits, after getting to know it better." Picking up her purchase and putting the two books away for now, Raven teased the kitten a couple of times with playfully wiggling fingers before picking it up. "Thanks Dhel. Do you have much experience with pets?"

[Dhelih Dotaivi]

She shakes her head. "Not really. Mostly strays. I'm in a part of town where those willing to spend credits feeding one mostly have something that's going to protect them and their home."

"How about you? Are pets common among your folk?"

[Raven Cadera]

"I'm... actually not certain, one way or another."

She adjusted the backpack she usually wore out and around the city when doing her supply runs, Raven made some space in it for the cat. Would probably be better for it to have a safe spot there rather than having her carry it in her hands the entire way. It would be able to pop its little head out though.

"My family didn't have any pets growing up, and the closest families didn't have pets as such but rather useful animals; like a guard-dog, or a goat, and those who had farms had livestock. I don't think there's anything against having pets though, just something that might be hard to maintain if you move around a lot maybe?"

[Manny Donos]

"A goat?" Manny asked. "I've never even seen a goat. But the guy who owned the junkyard where we'd hang out, Fast Gorbo, he had a dog that was named Goat. And you know, it looked kinda like a goat. That's probably why he named it that! Anyway, it bit me, like, four times."

Sometimes Manny just liked to feel like he was a part of the conversation.

Dhel shoulder-bumps into Manny, gently disturbing the kitten--Manka? Manka--disturbing Manka's attempts to settle in. She takes his arm with a grin. "Is that four totally separate times you messed with Goat and let it bite you? or like..one really bad visit?"

She watches Raven tuck the kitten away, hoping it will actually stay put. "I don't think I have actually ever seen a goat, come to think of it."

[Raven Cadera]

"They're formidable stubborn vicious little creatures. Can survive just about anywhere. People keep them for milk." Raven the country-bumpkin knew her way around farm-stuff better than city-stuff.

Looking to Manny she chuckled. "I can imagine that a particularly nasty dog was named Goat." To make sure that the kitten wouldn't be unsupervised, Raven put the backpack on the opposite way, so that the pack itself was on her chest rather than the back. A bit clunky, but it worked.

With everyone getting ready to go, she offered Dhel her raincoat first to put on.

[Manny Donos]

"Four different times." Manny nodded, moving to put his jacket on, too. "It hurt, but not too bad. His teeth weren't really very sharp."

He nodded again. "The thing was, it was really hard to get away from him, because he could climb really well. And jump, too! So even if you'd climb on top of some junk, Goat would just climb up after you and then bite you. Or maybe headbutt you. He liked doing that, too."
