(D10 MM) A Little Bit of Normality

[Varina Ordo]

Varina meandered up and down the streets. Her body did still ache a good amount but that wasn't what was bothering her. What was I thinking? A normal day with mom? She decided to leave the jacket off (what with the scorch marks and all) and instead opted for an athletic tee and a fully-open, ill-fitting button-up. Definitely didn't suit her at all.

Was her mom going to look normal outside of armor? Was she going to wear it to breakfast...?

Reibelle Ordo, the Valkyrie herself, did something few have seen- leaving camp for something personal and put her second in charge for the morning. With a blaster strapped to her leg she walks in the direction she was supposed to meet Varina. With the rain in the morning far lighter than it was later she stopped under an awning, leather jacket with an inner cloth hood pulled over her head to protect from the rain. Hands slipped into either jacket pocket she looks around with that way of carrying herself, a rise to her shoulders with confidence, a cold menace to the eye, that seems to make a couple other beings walking by give her a little distance.

Looking around the street for a quick glance she turns toward the window, looking inside the shop at folk and families going about their days and lives.

Ah yes, rain. Something that jacket would have helped with. Varina was definitely a rat scurrying from cover to cover.

The two really were alike. "Mom!" she called out. The normal inflection wasn't quite there; she'd sought to get her attention most. But it was a still a word that was hard not to say with a bit of warmth.

Reibelle didn't move, ignoring her? Just enough for that thought to cross her mind before something clicks and the woman looks up and over in Varina's direction. Hand out of one pocket she gives a wave of acknowledgement and then makes her way through the rain over toward her.

Getting there she comes to a stop and... doesn't say anything, looking to Varina with a slight vacancy there.

The teen struggled to look back. Every time she tried, she'd get this uncharacteristic bashfulness and put on a smile. "I'm hungry," she said, leaving out the Feed me that was running through her head.

Reibelle looks down at her for about half a minute, not sure herself how to respond to that but she manages up, "Sure.." glancing around the street she gets herself a lay of the land.

"You uh.. got a preference? Place seems... Crowded? Got options," she says, that little distance in her tone, uncertainty.

[Varina Ordo]

"I don't really go to restaurants that often," Varina admitted. "Most of the time, it's scavenging." She flushed and rubbed the back of her neck. "Like foraging from plants. And sometimes in cities. If I need to, I get rations..."

Cough. "I doubt they have any, uh, traditional Mandalorian food."

[Reibelle Ordo]

"I wouldn't expect they would.." she says, her eyes glancing from Varina down the road some. Spotting out a diner, much like they had in most cities across the galaxy at least somewhere, off on the corner of the street. That was familiar enough, she gives a nod toward it- and then as Varina wasn't one to manage a clear look at her, also pointed.

"Diner. That.. work for you?"

Varina shrugged. It wasn't like she ate at diners often and every time she had, she'd liked it. "Sure," she said, straightening out her shirt to at least be a little more presentable. "Uh, where does 'diner food' even come from?"

[Reibelle Ordo]

"Same place the rest of 'em do?" she glances around the Alley, giving a brief shrug. Walking between overhangs she lead the way forward toward the destination with both hands thrust firmly into her pockets.

[Varina Ordo]

"Oh, well, yeah. I just thought you might know." Moms were supposed to know everything, right? Varina followed along, patting her empty stomach.

[Reibelle Ordo]

"Thought you would have figured out that's not true on account of.." she says it, without saying it. Jogging across the street with just that expectation she'll follow. Giving a glance back toward Varina and then entering the diner together.

Varina caught up, flicking her hair away from her mother to get the water out of it. "'I just thought since you'd been around the galaxy a lot that you might have picked that sort of knowledge up." She beamed. "Like I learned that some planets are so secure that they import prisoners from other places." How she'd found that out... well, maybe not the best story to tell her mom. "And I mean like way back, even Republic times. Guess it's more, uh, tyrannical now."

"Only the most dangerous ones," she comments idly as she glances around for a seat. Seeing an empty booth she points with her head and then leads the way, "And.. dangerous means something different now than it used to. Republic was never a friend but.. looking back, guess at least they didn't throw people in max security prisons for having the wrong ideas how to run a galaxy," she grimaces at the thought, slipping into the booth and looking to Varina.

"I guess they don't make diners on Kashyyyk." Or did they? She had no idea; that'd just been a random planet to list as a dangerous one.

Varina sank into the cushioned seat and glanced at the tiled floors. They reminded her mostly of a bathroom but it was apparently an aesthetic for diners. "I mainly brought it up as, like, a random fact I learned during my travels. But, uh, yeah, Empire can do some pretty shady stuff sometimes."

"Almost everywhere in the galaxy I go.." she comments, idly grabbing one of the nearby datapads and trying to get the damned thing to turn on but the button was sticking a little. Varina could see the brief flash of anger that brought on, how her hands tensed a little when it hadn't worked for the fourth time, and then how she exhaled slowly and tried the button a few more times but this time with a longer push.

It eventually worked.

"I.. have a question," she looks up to Varina. "I.. think I'm supposed to ask those, right? Well.. is that... alright?"

Varina glanced at the thing. Technology. Well that was part of why she liked to be able to punch things when all else failed.

"I dunno, you never ask the rest of your group questions? I feel like questions is what people in general do."

[Reibelle Ordo]

"Different.." she grimaces a moment, setting down the menu she had and pushing it off to the side. "I don't.. wonder about what the other raiders want to do with their lives. Raiders come, they fight with us, and then when they decide to go- they go. They understand they're supposed to remove the wolf head from the armor and then leave. But.. questions like, what are your goals? Plans?" she shakes her head.

"Haven't asked one like that in years but.." she looks to Varina pointedly.

"What's up with the wolf head?" Varina asked, completely forgetting the point at first. Then comprehension dawned on her and she sank further into her seat. Some could even say she was lying down now. "I dunno. I'm kind of used to roaming so maybe I'll do that again."

She coughed. "I don't really have any big goal anymore. I came to this planet to find you and help Raven after the whole, uh, stabbing happened.

"Sorry about Carid by the way." She only kind of meant it.

"It's.. fine," she says, there's only a little agitation, having done some work on it apparently. "Carid.." she shakes her head. Picking up the datapad again and cycling through the menu options, "Roaming it good.. to get your head on straight. I did it for a few years.. both when I was younger, before your father, and.." she hesitates a breath, "after too."

"I suppose.. figure out who you are. Goals will find you then," she suggests, her eyes looking at Varina over the menu. Getting their gazes to match a moment to transfer the sincerity of the suggestion before looking back through the menu.
