(D10 MM) A Little Bit of Normality

Back on that shuttle, she'd been more than willing to stop fighting. If something else had happened to Raven though... her mother would have stumbled upon quite the scene. Guess I'd have found out if my metal leg would go with me to the Manda.

"Yeah, I think I got the wanderlust from you." Varina offered a half-hearted smirk before grabbing onto a menu of her own. She scanned it idly; she'd definitely watched families sit in silence before, attending to their own basis, and thought nothing of it. Now it seemed wasteful in a way, not making the best out of the time afforded to them.

And yet, what else could she say at the moment? She was still curious about the wolf thing but that didn't seem that important.

"Oh, uh, what do you think of Raven?" It wasn't a hunt for approval. Instead, a test.

"Probably.." she commented idly, setting down the menu again and having apparently made her choice. Resting her hands on the table she folded her hands into one another and regards Varina for the moment, and then the question. Thinking on that for another.

"Raven.. she's.." she grimaces at the thought, not sure how to word it. "She reminds me of someone. Someone who died years ago. I-.. I hope it turns out better for her," she says, her tone showing that uncertainty with every word.

Although she couldn't concentrate on what to choose, Varina had the perfect plan: copying her mom exactly.

"So they were both... intense?" As much as she cared for Raven, the older gal had a streak of seriousness. Then again, her husband had been nearly assassinated so that assessment wasn't entirely fair. "Well, she's surrounded by good people. I'd say me but... kind of hard for me to be by her side all the time if I'm wandering around.

"Still, I guess I'm available if she needs me. That's enough, isn't it?" She looked up at her mom, again prying for reactions.

Reibelle held her tongue at first, regarding Varina briefly before she answers, "Yes, that should be enough," she gives a brief nod and then flags down a server. Giving her order and then looking to Varina to give hers. Settling in again anew when the servers been sent on her way.

"They were.." she calls back up the comparison, "Both intense, but- driven. Driven toward a goal that sets them on a path of conflict. They're... easy, to want to rally around, to be there for, but... Mandalorians and conflict, it always leads to violence. Eventually.. eventually it bites you back."

Varina shamelessly added, "I'll take the same" at the end of her mom's order. Then, she gave an awkward smile to her before leaning back.

"Driven... yeah, I can see that. She does have that natural leadership. Heck, I don't even think she's that good at commanding." She glanced over her shoulder, half-expecting to get smacked over the head. "What I mean is like what you said. Joining in with her comes naturally."

"People like that go far with.. us," she says, settling her hands one into the other as she relaxes there. "When I was younger there was someone like that, the woman I spoke of just before. A few of us followed her, put her on something of a pedestal with the way she inspired those around her naturally. Together we fought many battles and then eventually she went one battle too fast, too far. Maybe we pushed her to it..." she shrugs, shaking her head.

"Afterwards I tried to focus on you, your father but-" she shakes her head. "Not the point. Point is, careful with her- for her. If I'm allowed to give that advice."

Us. Was it a family thing or a Mandalorian thing? "How many Mandalorians do you know that ever stay back?" Varina asked with a small smile. "I sure wouldn't respect anyone who couldn't box their way out of a situation, you know?"

Her expression turned a bit more serious, given the topic. "But yeah, I get it. I don't want her running off and getting killed in some crazy quest for... I don't know. But I try to tell her to... relax a little. And, well, she tells me to be a little more responsible or something like that."

"There.. are limits to any warrior. Recognizing that is just as important as being able to fight your way out of something," she looks to Varina. Thinking, a brief smirk, "There's no shame in knowing you aren't the strongest of us, claim the title of Mandalore. But, claiming it without earning it?" she shrugs, the point made and not without a little mirth to it.

"Sounds.. like you have a friend, and it would do her well to listen to you I think."

"Ah right, that discretion thing and whatnot." Varina shook her head with a languid grin on her face. "I keep hearing about that." She reached over to her knife. Even in her attempt at being normal, she couldn't keep herself from at least bringing one of her weapons. "I still consider fighting him sometime. Pretty sure I'd lose though."

She sighed. "Yeah, my friend wouldn't that one bit. She's hard to get through to... but I guess I am too. But we care about one another."

"It's a start," she says, the food arriving and Reibelle barely paying mind to the server. When the drink was placed in front of herself she took it and drank while the rest was set down in front of them. Setting the drink down as the server leaves she looks to Varina, "I wouldn't. No.. done enough fighting of our own people. And anyway, if you won? Lose, you die, but if you win you'll get that whole or part of the whole of the enclave lookin' at you like you're the new Mandalore."
