This was going to be a difficult one, she still wasn't sure she believed it herself.

"Some powerful force users can still communicate with us through the Living Force. I'm really sketchy on the details of how it happens to be honest. I was a Youngling when Master Yoda told us about the possibility."

Dhel's head tilts, trying to put that together with the bits and pieces of a dozen other philosophies. She glances at Deonis, curious if that's a belief held in common with his background. "Does that mean there's like...proof of souls that go do something when we die?" This was not a question she'd expected to be asking, but there it was.

(going to assume by now that Cartess has been mentioned prior, btw. Let me know if that's incorrect.)

"Not so much a soul as most religions describe it. a very similar concept. When we die, we return to the Force. Some users if powerful or trained enough can retain consciousness when they do so. How this is done is beyond me. I have just heard it can be done."

Thinking about it, Dhel frowns, more in concentration. "So the physical parts go back to the ground and the mental or...maybe spiritual...parts go back into the Force? But maybe some people can keep from doing that, like...mental fossils?" She's seen some of the Bellionasian fossils at the museum. They don't seem like particularly complete remnants of the creatures they once were.

There's a small huff through her nose as she closes her eyes, feeling that connection intensify a bit, telling her that she hasn't broken it entirely with her shift in focus. "There's a lot to learn when you two, after all your time with this, are telling me you don't know things. That's...just hitting me how big that is. Kind of daunting?" her hand comes up to rest on Deonis' on her shoulder. "Also a little comforting. Like, it's ok if it's not easy to understand if even the folks who've been working with it for years and years don't know everything."

A long road ahead, but with that sense of connection still breathing at the back of her attention, it definitely feels like the first steps on the road have been taken.
