Hey all Deonis ended up being much more fun than I expected and a huge tonal shift from my last character. It was cool to see some new faces and see how he fit in with old ones.

Not much secret about the big red man left to tell but if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer.

Ahhh! Deonis was so great! Greatly enjoyed reading his development, and I think it might've been one of my favorite character arcs this game. And yes, I was totally thinking in the start that he was like a Force Sensitive clone or something, because that also seemed like a cool idea, but the truth was also really cool.

What was your favorite moment in Deonis' story in the game?

This is a tough one! But I think it will be the same as his most impactful moment and that was the fight with the Sith Wraith in the swamp. That was really the turning point in his mind where he realized he was done working for other people, being a slave to another's will. He still had his goals that he was very determined to complete but he wouldn't accept help if it meant giving up who he was again. This realization helped him come to terms with his past and face it rather than run from it.

Honestly I think I could wrote a lot on that topic but I think that's a good short answer lol

His goal moving forward is basically to help guide Dhel in her blooming force ability, help the rebellion when he can, continue to evade inquisitors but probably looking for a way to take the fight to them. Also looking into balancing the force on Bellionas at some point! Soooooo lots of stuff left to do!

Deonis was really interesting and I really wanted to meet him early on, but RL meant I only managed about 1 thread a day for the first 3 or 4 IC days. Then we were off doing very different stuff.

Yeah! I hoped to thread with Tenzing at some point. Him being a clone reminded Deonis of his surrogate "father" the man that rescued him and took care of him for awhile so obviously had the interest there but Deonis will be back! so hopefully we can meet in the future.

He holds no resentment or animosity towards former jedi. The only thing he worries about is if they believe him lost, or in need of redemption. Or that his use of the darkside will compromise their trust in him

Huge thanks for running along with me on Dhel's last minute bit of character development. I was really glad to have a chance to not just be "yeah we know a bunch of people in common but never actually talk" this game! Did not actually expect to acquire a teacher out of all that, but in hindsight, it fits really well (which I think fits better as an answer to something spotted on my own Q&A).

There's a few questions I think I'm going to see if I can get in IC before coming here with another round of missed ones, but here's a few:

How old is Deo, actually? There have been a few references to him actually being quite young, but I don't have a sense for his actual age.

Watching Deonis' arc has been a trip. And I'm watching that thread with the rattataki now housing that spirit with interest and trepidation. That early sense of 'any cost is fine to gain the power I need for my goals' and justifying it because the goals were good shifted because the cost of being used again was too high. But there are other dark bargains out there. Did his shift away from what was on offer there toward Balance come with a determination to avoid dark (or Dark) bargains that would help him meet his goals? Or just refine the boundaries of what's too far for him to accept.

Hey! Thank you for bringing Deonis along into the game. I enjoyed feeling him out for where he stands throughout and definitely am enjoying the piece of the puzzle he's fit in as!

So I actually don't know his age exactly myself and I think that fits since the Emperor likely isn't big on birthday parties! But he's somewhere in the late teens most likely maaaayybe 20-21 but likely 18-19. The references to him seeming younger than he looked is that most people would probably perceive a well muscled, grim, person almost 6 and a half feet tall as a whole ass adult. Plus with his lack of childhood he did have to grow up fast so even though he is around the same age as a lot of other people he likely views himself as more mature than them.

as for the second question, he doesn't have any aversion to using darker things to accomplish his goals. He does believe to go too far in either direction on the light/dark spectrum is bad and can lead to making mistakes. He saw in the spirit something he pitied that became so dark and obsessed with surviving that it shackled itself there somehow. He doesn't know if thats right but its where his mind went. Also the thing with the Spirit is that while HE will do almost anything to accomplish goals it has to be HIS decision, he doesn't want to be another puppet.

I feel like he would be as open and honest with her as he had been so far. He'd tell her as much as she wanted to know

That fits. I feel like he's been pretty open and honest in general. And while there've been comments that he'd be physically protective, I'm not sure I get the vibe that information or knowledge are things he thinks people need to be protected from, in general, even if he weren't aiming at being open with Dhel.

But! that reminds me of something I wanted to comment on re: his speech patterns.

1. Was keeping the blunt/short phrasing that got him Sholua's nickname of One-liner tough to maintain?

2. I noticed that, except on certain topics, he seemed to keep things...gentle, for lack of a better word. Short. To the point. But also choosing softer words or phrases in a lot of cases. Also, surrounding descriptive text of demeanor and tone that also went in that direction. Granted, given the relationship and size disparity, he's been very gentle in Dhel's direction, but I noticed it in other places as well. It stood out a bit because that seems common to the really big guys I know, who aim to defuse some of the way that they're stuck seeming threatening without even trying just on account of size. Was that deliberate?

1. Yes! I'm typically a much more verbose poster and often play characters that are more talkative. His strange way of speaking was kind of my reflection of his presence 1. But yes I would often type out post and then make a second run through it to delete extra words and break up Complex sentences.

2. Hmmmm possibly! Idk if it was deliberate or more natural to me as I am a rather big guy irl so could be my natural tendencies bleeding through. But I did want to make a distinction between the fact that he had this threatening aura and bearing but unless he was angry or in a fight he was actually rather mild mannered and even nice, if a bit brusque.
