[MA D2] Wisdom of Nature

Proth had mentioned a place in the swamp that he believed the Light was strong. Sol at least was curious. After seeking answers in books for so long, perhaps the answer he sought was in a different place. He leaves most of his gear at the entrance, carrying only his sword and one other thing: a crimson crystal. His fur bristles, unused to the chill of fresh air on his fur.

When was the last time I was completely free of it?

Sol heads to the stone and pulls off his sword, setting it down. Then, with a breath, he pulls out the crytal he had taken from Arwen, the corrupted tool of an Inquisitor, and placed it upon the stone.

While traveling around the badlands, SCaT stumbles upon the border to the swamp. It wants to avoid the watery bits but still explore, so eventually it finds the tiny cave entrances. Luckily, it's a swift thing to take off the tool kit and squeeze through.

Sol's ears twitch a tad, but he has been focused on attempting to meditate, blocking out sound and distractions. A relatively quiet patter behind him isn't enough to make him turn right away.

As the droid approaches the gank meditating, it notices the pillar. With a gem, one of red color, and a sword? So the jedi can't go around with lightsaber hilts unless they have their own crystal now? But he's way too old to not have one, all the ones SCaT encountered the war had one, and half of those were kids! Thinking its last thought out loud, in the iconic high tone of the war. "Wow, are jedi so desperate they have to steal crystals from assassins now?"

Sol's eyes snap open at the words, vaguely registering an insult, but more surprised that there was anyone in the grotto with him. He snaps up his sword and gets into a fighting stance, only to blink at a single modified B-1. A familiar one, at that.

"Well, I'm not a Jedi. Not yet, anyway, and not close to one anytime soon. And I would argue that if you asked the man, he would say that he let me have it. I would say that I earned it when I faced it."

The droid doesn't seem initially hostile at least. Sol picks up the crystal and holds it up. "But you aren't wrong about its origin at least. I have no doubts that it was used for ill purpose. But if things that were once used for ill purpose cannot be redeemed then, well" Sol slides the sword so that the dull edge rests over his shoulder. "What the kriff are we doing then?"

Sol cocks his head to the side and studies the droid, noting the distance in case he needed to charge it. "You were on the ferry." It isn't a question. A B-1 had been about as easy to ignore as, well, an armored Gank

"But a lightsaber crystal isn't merely a thing. Things have no will of their own, Kyber crystals do right? That is why the assassin gave it to you right; they were afraid it would influence them to do more bad things." Taking a second to process its thoughts on what it said, it then confirmed it was, in fact, on that ferry.

"No, you're not wrong, the crystal is not "just a thing"" Solork replies nodding his head in agreement. "But there is more than you know." Sol begins to step closer, slowly shading in the distance.

"I've had this for a year now. Plenty of time to fashion a new hilt of my own if I so wished. But I haven't. I've sought a way to purge the corruption from it before I use it. Khyber crystals do not have a monopoly on ill acts and if they do not seem alive in the way the others conceive, I heard heard the same said of Droids...and cyborgs." Sol holds up his mechanical arm, allowing the metal to glint in the dim light.

The Gank evaluates the Droid. "You know a great deal about kyber lore for...well, for anyone really, never mind someone from the other side of the Clone Wars. Do you care to share how?"

"Bits and pieces from various reconnaissance missions. We knew the Jedi send children to the Icy planet of Ilum regularly, that means they cannot mine crystals en masse at the very least and only a jedi could find them. So why not simply have a master find as many of them as possible, because each crystal can only be found by a specific person. And lastly, you have a crystal and yet you have no hilt. That tells me you're afraid to use it."

"Not fear" Sol replies bluntly. "Care. Like I would finding a stash of explosives. It could be an incredible boom, but if you weren't the one to mix it, can you rely on it? Do you go that extra click to make sure it's safe enough or that you at least know the risks? I do. "

Sol sheathes his blade. " Only the only experts to consult on this testing because worm food a decade ago and wouldn't have been inclined to help anyway. Which means I'm flying blind on my own faith and judgement."

Sol looks back at the Grotto, frustration finally getting the better of him. " UNLESS THE EVER PRESENT FORCE WOULD LIKE TO OFFER SOME SPECIAL WISDOM"

In spite of his frustration, Sol had a lifetime of do or die fighting, with a year of training with a Jedi to boot. He doesn't get much warning, but "not much" is more than he is used to.

Despite the frustration Sol is still attentive to his surroundings. Enough so that he noticed a very discrete retraction of some of the nearby foliage when he let out his burst of pent up frustration. It was as if the anger, and the place where it came from, had caused a ripple effect throughout the living matter here.

It was a quick clue. Proth had mentioned this place was strong with the Force, but the idea that the surroundings could respond to the people inside...

Sol shuts his eyes and concentrates, with renewed focus. He brings in every scrap of training that he has gained, attempting to attune his mind to this place, his fingers clenched around the crystal in his hand.

Solork, consumed by the pursuit finds himself drifting inward. Guided by the energy to sit near the tree he is able to focus inward and in turn toward the crystal. There is exactly some of the pure energy here that he seeks for his personal task. When he focuses he feels almost certain of that but.. it doesn't appear to be enough.

So it seems like the jedi-in-training has found a clue to whatever it is jedi do. SCaT has no idea what that is, and knows it can't feel a connection like organics do. So it just sits near the entrances and observes, hoping for any sort of clue as to what this force feels like

In the meantime by all the reading SCaT can perform it does appear that this place would be considered by many organics to be aesthetically pleasing.

Jedi-to-be cannot remove dark side from crystal alone, so sought help. It has gone to a cave with no one else inside and has found help regardless. Therefore some places can be "strong in the force". This place has no machines and is full of life. Droids have never shown signs of the force once in thousands of years, therefore all droids are missing something this place has.
Query for later, can introducing organic material into the chassis of a droid produce the ability to have the force?
