Double Trouble [D2EE]

[Manny Donos]

Manny blinked. "I guess we could try the casino tables. I know a bit about cards, of course..." With a flourish, he pulled out his sabaac deck. They'd said no eggs, not no magic! With another flourish, he put it away. "But less about playing than you'd think. I mean, once you start pulling cards out of nowhere, even just for fun, and no one wants to play with you..."

He shrugged. "And I don't know anything about sports betting. I've actually only really had money since about a year ago. That's when I got my ship, too. Before that, well..." He coughed. "I didn't usually have enough for a minimum bet. Which is too bad, because betting on the Manka Cats would have been a sure thing!"

[Sholua Tempes]

"Well then I guess we just walk around and see what catches your eye. Our ours."

She considered the cards for a moment.

"Flashy tricks should be fine while we're walking around, but I wouldn't do them at the table. Security here don't like asking suspected cheaters many questions, if you know what I mean?"

[Manny Donos]

"That sounds good to me!" Manny grinned. "I mean, really, I'm down for whatever. I'm gonna want to see Manka Cats stuff, but it doesn't have to be all Manka Cats stuff, y'know?"

Smiling, he made the cards disappear. With a flourish, of course. "Yeah, I know how it works. I mean, I was probably thrown out of, uh, Annoyance's place enough times to get the message."

Oh yeah...

"I guess that's another thing we should talk about later, huh?" Manny frowned. "I feel like we should make a list."

[Sholua Tempes]

"We can do that back at the ship. You are going to show us the ship later, yes?"

She gave him that 'look', but it seemed the waiters may be about to save him with the second drinks order.

[Manny Donos]

"Hey, you bet!" He gave her a hit of finger guns. "It's a pretty cool ship. And yeah, we've got some free bunks if you needed a place to stay, or hang out or whatever.

The arrival of the second drink kept Manny from the vague feeling that he was about to be eaten. He waved the waiter's hand away from his first drink until he could take his first straw, moving it to the second drink for double straw action. "You guys wanna do that... tomorrow? Day after? After dinner... no, hang on. I'm helping my friend Raven with a thing. Good crime." He explained.

Dhel's likewise not much for betting. Happy to watch other people lose their credits that way, but never much wanted to risk her own that way.

"Good crime? I guess maybe add that to the list, cause I'm curious and it's probably not a great topic for here. She sips her newly arrived green drink. Not bad, but the fizz is more fun. "So move in, movies, discussion...before or after the criming?" Dhel grins, stretching beneath the table to rest the ball of her foot on Manny's knee. Dhel's not sure which she's going to enjoy more, his reaction, or the relief from the way the too-tall chair was putting her toes to sleep.

Not yet aware of the below table shenanigans, Sholua took another sip from her stein.

"Definitely one for the list here, but we can discuss that in a lot more detail somewhere more . . . private."

[Manny Donos]

"I wonder if we can knock out a few of these at once?" Manny said, smiling. "Movie and criming? Hey, maybe we could get all three?" He paused a moment to take a sip of his drink.

This time, he managed to keep his lower body under control. The sudden widening of the eyes was definitely a clue as to some sort of shenanigans. But not so much of one as the sudden surprised exhale. His drink bubbled mightily, splashing up fortunately not quite over the rim, as Manny breathed his surprise through his twin twisty straws.

"Haha... yeah..." Manny said, brushing a hand casually back through his half-mussed hair. "I think a good private discussion does sound... uh... good."

About to ask what sort of crime one can manage while watching a movie, Dhel decides that's really not the conversation to have where other diners can hear. Instead, she just smiles at him over the edge of her drink, flexes her toes, and purrs. "hmmm, some topics really work best in private. Should be time for a nice discussion.

Her expression carefully gives no sign of the pins and needles that make her want to actively kick something a few times. since kicking either Manny or the table was unlikely to be taken well.

She shifts gears just a bit, since they *are* in a public room though. "Do you have movies? Or are we checking out the local holonet?"

[Manny Donos]

"Ulp!" A brief surprised gulp, chased with a gulp of green, and then Manny managed to look cool. Well... collected, anyway. Maybe if he hadn't taken off his cool hat...

"I do have some movies. Mostly martial arts movies. I have Wookiee Teras Kasi Master, Hyperdrive Jump Kick, Tattooine Rumble, Enter the Krayt Dragon... you name it, I probably got it." Manny grinned. "You wanna give one of those a try?"

[Sholua Tempes]

Sholua had to resist very hard at rolling her eyes. All those . . . 'martial' arts . . . the movies would probably qualify as comedies for her. Still better than endless gravball replays.

"I guess we could. Is it a dry ship or do you have any . . . green drinks?"

[Manny Donos]

"Nothing like this!" Manny said, taking another sip. "But I've got other colors, with other stuff in them. But getting fancy colorful drinks is like half the fun of going out! Except blue." Frowning, Manny shook his head. "Milk is blue. I don't want my fancy drinks to be blue, too!"

He tilted his head. Was there something else to what she was saying? But wait...

Swoop, came the waiter, carrying three dishes...

The warblerunner was placed before her. All the veggies and sauces were identifiable. The main feature though . . . well it looked like a bird. It had wings, which would make Manny happy, and was slathered in some lovely sauce . . . but the bird itself was a rather bright blue.

"Well then, you kinda just called that, Cutey. Blue drinks no good, how about blue meat?"

[Manny Donos]

"Blue meat...?" Manny poked at it curiously with his utensils. "That is so..." There was a brief pause.

"AWESOME!!!" Grinning, Manny began to dig in. By the way he gave his cutlery a bit of a flourish before he started, spinning it in his fingers, it was clear that he could have used it with dignity and grace.

But he didn't.

Sholua didn't seem to have any refinement lessons at all. It hadn't been expected of Pad . . . . students at the Tem . . . . schooling institution she attended. The ten years of slum living had been her finishing school. She did however refrain from just picking the bird up with her hands. She did rather hack it to pieces though.

"Tasty. I wonder what plumage it had . . .?"

Dhel, carefully trying to figure out how to scoop? cut? the spherical confection held on a delicate ring stand, looks over at the blue birds and pauses. "oooh. That almost doesn't look like food." She's settled cross-legged on her chair now, possibly to Manny's relief.

With a complete lack of self-consciousness, Dhel reaches over with her fork to poke up a piece Manny's blue bird. "Mind if I try a bite? You can have some of mine?"

"Those all sound like fighty movies. Haven't seen any of them, so they're all fine, really."

[Manny Donos]

"If it was blue, maybe it had really exciting plumage? Or..." Manny tilted his head, considering. "Maybe it was bland colors on the outside, exciting colors on the inside. Like an Ortolan wearing a trenchcoat." The comparison made Manny pause a moment, and he made a face.

But only for a moment. His eyes went up as Dhel swooped in. "Oh, I see what's up!" Manny counter-swooped, making off with a bite of her desert; he managed to take a bit without upsetting the ring's balance at all. "And yeah, lots of fighting. Some of them can get pretty extreme, like when the Wookiee punches a guy, and his skeleton falls out. We don't have to watch that one, unless you want to."

That actually made Sholua laugh . . . and more people in the restaurant stare at them.

"Absolute classic. Wookiee skeleton punch!"

Her warblerunner was disappearing quickly. A skill acquired from eating fast while on the run.

[Manny Donos]

Manny grinned. "Yeah, it's awesome! He punches the guy, and then you see these special skeleton effects. And then SPLAT!" He made a gesture with his hands that was probably supposed to be someone's skeleton falling out.

He shook his head, still grinning. "So, I'm hearing one vote for Wookiee Teras Kasi Master. It's totally awesome, I promise."

By the look on Dhel's face, the bird is surprisingly tasty for being "I'm deadly poison" blue. "I have even seen that bit on the holonet someplace, and it was totally 'wait...what just happened?' Seeing the rest of it sounds great."

Her subsequent attempt at scooping from the cake, shoves it through the ring to collapse on the plate in a still-delicious, but nowhere near as impressive pile. Frowning, she looks at Manny, who'd effortlessly scooped from the cake. "How did you..." with a sigh, she focuses on actually eating the cake, which is about twice as rich as she'd expected, with some sort of deeply red fruit oozing out.

"If the Warbleblaster's native, you could ask at the museum, and they'll know what it looks like before..." she gestures at the two plates of mostly destroyed bird.
