It's No Uj'alayi (D3. MA. Dol's)

[Raven Cadera]

It seemed today was going to be a day of expanding the search in a different way, so Raven had reached out to Tenzing and agreed to meet him over at Dol's. Which was also an excellent excuse to pick up some sweet and tasty baked goods... she'd been wanting something like that today. Or, specifically she had wanted Uj'alayi, but it was quite clear to her that the bakery didn't have much in Mandalorian cuisine.

Settling for a giant sticky cinnamon-swirl and tea, she found a place to sit down that was a bit more sheltered from the other customers, allowing them to speak more privately. And for her to avoid too many eyes in her direction.

[Tenzing]

Tenzing's arrival was met with a few nods and smiles from the regulars. They didn't pay him too much attention after that. Seeing that Raven had already ordered, he asked for his usual before walking over to join her.

"Thanks for the invite. How are the digs workin' out?" He slid smoothly into the seat and offered a polite smile.

"Tenzing, su cuy'gar," she placed down her cup, straightening slightly in her seat as he joined her. "Quite well, in fact. I'm surprised you could get something like that so quickly."

Raven smirked a little with some humor. "Though if our business here with the group continues at this quiet pace, I suspect we might run the risk of getting fat." The Resistance hadn't exactly needed them to get physical apart from help with lifting things, so for the moment they were at ease in that department. "Thank you, again, for the assist."

[Tenzing]

"Youre welcome. Helps to know people." He gave her a look about the fat comment that was easily translated as 'Yeah right'. "Folks around here ain't always welcoming off the bat. With good reason. Guess I've been around long enough now that folks trust me with stuff like that."

Pausing he drew in a lung-full of the cinnamon scent. "Mmm mmm. I had to cut back on those."

She only smirked at his reaction to the Fat-comment, followed by biting into the cinnamon-roll.

"Mm," nodding, she held a gloved hand to her mouth as she chewed, then swallowed. "I can see why... it's quite good. I had this pipe-dream of maybe finding some uj'alayi, but... I accept this substitute." Wasn't there some myth about cops and donuts? Maybe it was cinnamon-rolls or other baked goods in general on Bellionas?

"By the way, while I have you here, mind if I ask some questions? See, there's another reason why we're here, apart from the common interest we share."

[Tenzing]

"You-jally-whatnow?" He grinned and jerked a thumb at the owner. "Ask Dol. Maybe he can whip you something up?" For some reason his mind went to a doughnut wrapped in armour.

As he was about to continue his order arrived: two delicious house-special doughnuts and an extra-large kaff. He rubbed his hands together with glee. "Sweet. Thanks pal."

Looking over the rim of the steaming kaff and taking a deep breath Tens nodded. "Go for it. Shoot. Ask away."

"Ah." That was a bit of a small blunder. "Uj cake. Traditional Mandalorian dessert. Flat, dense, and sticky - made with crushed nuts, dried fruits, and a sweet spiced syrup we call uj'ayl."

Raven silently reminded herself that he maybe didn't want to draw attention to him that he was a clone, so she stopped herself from asking what he might know of Mandalorian culture... word was that the clones had learned some of the language and way of life, but it might wait for another time.

"Are you familiar with the Salky Raiders?"

[Tenzing]

"Ah right, gotcha. Sounds good. If anyone can make it around here, Dol's your best bet." He tucked into the first doughnut. Nothing better this side of the core.

As he chewed he thought about the question. "Not exactly familiar. I mean, I don't recall meeting one. Not openly anyway. But yeah, they don't cause too much trouble... at the moment anyway."

Pulling out a datapad he called up a few files. "You looking for somethin' in particular?"

Sipping her tea, she seemed to mull it over in her head for a few moments. It was kind of interesting to see that Tenzing fulfilled some Cop-tropes.

"Specifically, I'm looking for one of their numbers, a man who calls himself Carid. Or rather, he claims to be one of them, but I'm uncertain. I've been trying to check the city here for any possible contacts they have or places they might frequent." Another sip of tea. "One of theirs, a man named Carid, attacked my partner."

So it went without saying what that issue was about. "Complication is that one of his brothers left behind after the attack claimed to know nothing about it or why he would do it. So I'm inclined to be cautious about this, and try to avoid a direct confrontation until I can figure out more of what's going on. It wouldn't be the first time someone manipulated enemy groups, after all."

[Tenzing]

There was a slow nod. "Carid huh?" His expression gave nothing away, easily switching into Investigator mode. "This person got any other names, aliases, that sorta thing?"

The issue moved up his priority list. Angry Mandos tended to cause a lot of explosions, and that didn't mesh well with what his own friends were up to.

"The more details you can give me the better." He picked up the coffee and had a good go at it.

A brief shake of her head. "Not that I've found out. Me and a few friends are trying to investigate, but it's slow work on a world we're new to." Her gloved fingertips brushed against her lips in thought.

"Black armor - red wolf-head emblem on the chest with three red claw-scratches under. Older than me, brown hair, worn face." Older than her was probably not the best descriptor, as she seemed somewhat youthful herself. For sure, hardened by battle and a rough life, but that kind of came with the Mandalorian life.

"... He had a female Mandalorian along with him as well," it was probably the second one Dredgen had seen. "Ketsu, I believe the name was. Kind of mean lady, from what I've heard. Long black hair, similarly styled armor. Pale face, silver eyes."

Raven chuckled as she realised something. "Of course, this is granted that they're not wearing their helmets."

[Tenzing]

"Heh, true enough. Alright, nice details, thanks. Anything else you can give me? Ship? Weaponry? Any previous with your partner?" Everything went down on the pad. Another slurp of coffee and he was looking askance at the second doughnut.

"Didn't get to catch their ride. I know he uses a wrist-mounted blade..." she lifted her arm like she was going to demonstrate. Then awkwardly remembering that she didn't have that with her in the city, as it would probably draw even more attention. "Uh... I can get you some schematics on what that looks like."

She didn't know a lot of clone armor had come equipped with something similar.

"As for previous history, none that we know of. Though they sure picked a hell of a time to bring it up if that's the case... we're both Mandalorians, so you know, there's always bound to be someone who has it out for us one way or another."

[Tenzing]

Tenzing nodded as Raven gave him a few last details. Those Mandos sure were a contentious lot. He checked through his notes and wracked his brain. The coffee helped. So did the second doughnut. For a few minutes it was like being back on the force, talking to a CI. He kept his expression neutral.

"Okay. First up. Yeah, I've heard of this Carid before. Not super familiar with him, but that's the name of one of the Salky Raiders' two primary leaders. I've heard the name before but I don't have much more than that. It's a starting point though."

"That's certainly more than most people I've spoken with knows." It was something she had heard as well, but that Tenzing already seemed to be in the know impressed her. Maybe there really was some magic to that Doughtnuts and Cops combination.

"Didn't expect local law enforcement to be familiar with him, but you're full of surprises it seems."

[Tenzing]

There was a small smirk. "I been a lotta places Raven. Seen a lotta things." It disappeared again as he moved on, replaced with a curiously serious expression.

"Secondly. This Ketsu... If she's the same person I'm thinking of, and my gut says she is. Well, she's dangerous." He could see her face for a moment. Crazy kid with a death wish, and maybe something more. A chill crept up his spine but he chased it away with kaff. "Handle with care."

Death wish... that could probably count for most Mandalorians, by the virtue of few of them fearing death. But no, this one seemed driven by something else. She hadn't said her partner died, so perhaps she still had someone she wanted to return alive to.

"Something tells me that warning label comes with more reason than just a violent Mandalorian. But, concern noted; I will be cautious."

[Tenzing]

"Cautious is good. Prepared is better." He reached for a doughnut but discovered the last one had mysteriously disappeared already. Instead he took a draw of the kaff.

"I can help you dig up more info if you want. Something tells me this Ketsu is gonna be a whole lot more trouble than Bellionas needs right now."

[Raven Cadera]

"I would appriciate that, granted that you too will be careful." She on the other hand still had some of her cinnamon roll to work through. "We both seem like people who handle ourselves fairly well in a scrap, but as you say... better to be prepared."

Still his words gave her something to think about. "You think she and the others will be trouble for our... 'friends'?"

[Tenzing]

"I'll do my best." He wasn't making any promises though. "They might be a problem. If they target you, or you target them, our friends could be collateral."

Another long sip of the kaff. "Or maybe they're the kind of people who just bring trouble with them. Either way, better to be ready just in case."
