It's No Uj'alayi (D3. MA. Dol's)

[Raven Cadera]

"They already targeted us by trying to kill my husband," her voice tensed with anger at the edges, but remaining low for just the two of them to hear. It was a given that she had to go after them in return for the insult.

Raven unclenched her jaw and took a deep breath, obviously calming herself. "... I don't want collateral," she said sincerely, calmer now than she was a few seconds ago. "I am doing my best to prevent that from happening."

[Tenzing]

Calm in the face of her anger he nodded slightly. "Honour demands a response though, serim? So were they really after him, or is the provocation the point? Would be useful to figure that out."

Tenzing's Mando'a was rusty as hell, but he still remembered a few phrases. "I can see you're doing your best. Wouldn't be here otherwise. I'm sure you'd prefer to keep it all in house, and I understand that."

The Mando'a was welcome, a reminder that she was speaking with someone who understood better compared to most outsiders. Even if the Mando'a was terrible... not as bad as a protocol droid, because Tenzing at least had emotion to the word, but still. "Honor demands a response," she confirmed. "Provocation is the most likely reason, I think. My husband didn't know why he was their target, and asked me to find out while he's recovering in bacta."

She sighed. "These people weren't known to me until recently, so it can't be me they're after." If it was Mand'alore... well, then they had miscalculated. "But, so far, nothing solid to prove some of our theories of why or who would be behind this... we have suspected the Empire, but..." she shrugged. As she had said, there was no proof. Only speculation.

[Tenzing]

For a few moments he thought about that. It was easy to imagine the Empire was behind everything. Or maybe that was too convenient an answer. Closing the datapad and tucking it away he returned to the kaff. It was about two-thirds done by this point, still warm.

"So the question you, and by extension we, need to answer is: Who benefits? And the next question is, do you want a refill?"

"No, but thank you," she declined the offer of a refill. "Who benefits though... I can imagine a few."

Raven glanced about the locale again. Thankfully it was busy enough that it was hard for people to overhear their conversation. With a sigh, she looked to the window, then back to Tenzing. "... You're asking for the full picture, aren't you?"

[Tenzing]

He flashed her an amused grin. "Oya. It would help to know what I'm getting into here."

The urge to order another doughnut was rising so he lifted the coffee instead. "Tell it to me straight. More to work with."

Raven wasn't equally amused, and it was clear she was weighing her options here. In the end though, she figured... he was a clone, and he was with the Resistance. There was probably no way he'd betray her. Right?

Placing her elbows on the table, she leaned closer and lowered her voice. "I am a follower of Mand'alor the Rebuilder. My husband is among his more trusted warriors." That context should at least clarify why she was suspecting the Empire. "The Salky Raiders were invited to our enclave, to meet Mand'alor. Offered our hospitality at our wedding feast. Not all the Raiders were there, as not all of them believe in Mand'alor's claim. Things seemed to be going fine."

"My husband was finishing a patrol when he was attacked by Carid. Were it not for one of our brothers hearing the commotion nearby, it could've ended differently than it did. Carid escaped, as did most of his associates. One was captured, one of their younger members, who swore that he knew nothing about such an attack." Her jaw tightened as she spoke of the events, reciting them like a battle report of sorts. "For now, I believe him and his life has been spared - he remains a prisoner in our Enclave. I believe that if the Raiders as a whole truly wanted to kill more of us, even Mand'alor, then they would've struck with greater force during the night. Not just attacking one man. I feel more that I... we're being goaded into action."

[Tenzing]

By the time she was finished his kaff was also gone. "Thanks for trusting me with that Raven. I'll make some enquiries and get back to you."

A brewing Mandalorian Civil War was bad news in general. Having one on your doorstep? No thanks.

[Raven Cadera]

She bobbed her head, grateful for him understanding, and also understanding why it was a great sign of trust. "Thank you. In the meantime, we'll continue our own search as well, to try to get to the bottom of this."

"Do feel free to contact me if there's anything else, or further developments."

[Tenzing]

"Hey, you got it. Let me know if you need to navigate the, ah, shadier parts of the City. I got people who owe me." He smiled pleasantly but it was short-lived. "Sorry about all that trouble you're going through. Thanks for helping us anyway."

[Raven Cadera]

It took a moment for Raven to piece together what he meant, her mind having been elsewhere for a moment. "... Oh, you mean the girl, Mara?" She waved an armored hand briefly. "Don't mention it. Those imps are no friends of ours either, and it gives a chance for some of our own to prove themselves as well."

"It's glorious to stand up against a larger foe."

[Tenzing]

That brought his thoughts back to the war and the giant droids. Now the Republic he'd fought for had been subsumed by the Empire. Destroyed seemingly from within. He lowered his voice.

"Yeah, well. Plenty of glory to go around then. Empire ain't going anywhere just yet."

Perking up he added: "But yeah, thanks. Mara needs good allies; like you."

[Raven Cadera]

"Thanks." She smiled a little at that, not sure if they counted as good allies in the eyes of most. "Lots of work to be done, and, sooner or later, it will probably come to violence - it's a weapon our enemy knows how to use very well, but so do we." It kind of felt like she included Tenzing in the 'we' as she spoke, rather than just her brethren.

"Anything I can do for you, before we wrap up for today?"
