Repairs and Rendesvouz (D4, EE. Mando Safehouse)

Finally getting back to the safehouse, Raven had a moment to lay out the bloodied book and broken comlink to assess what would be needed to get something out of the findings.

A part of her everyday wanted to just message the others about the crater and watch it go up in flames, but damnit, she owed it to everyone to get to the truth of the matter. Especially Praxton, and Dex.

[Claymore Wren]

After getting some eat from Calypso's Diner, Claymore walks into the safehouse seeing the items Raven set down. He picks up the comlink and starts eyeing it up.

"I'm guessing there is a store about this..." Looking up at Raven. "Let's see what I can do with it."

"I think I did a thing..." He laughs at how easy the comlink was to fix. Knowing she's a pensive, and in a more sober tone, "I wish I would help you with my old contacts, but I burned them joining you and the Rebuilders."

"Belonged to someone who was in touch with Carid," there was some tension as she said the name of the man who attacked Praxton. "He seems to be tying up loose ends, probably knows people are after him at this point."

Or it's a wild goose chase.

Clay working with such ease on the repairs did amaze her a little. "Don't worry about it, Clay. I'm not sure we'd want to draw them into this anyway, considering the situation."

"Hum, do you think our favorite librarian might able to do something with the book?" He says while eyeing the bloody book.

[Raven Cadera]

"Hmmm... maybe? Though I don't think she did much book-repairs," her closed fist rested against her chin as she spoke, eyeing the items they had so far.

"I was thinking I'd check the neighbourhood. See if there's any locals who might be doing that kind of work."

[Claymore Wren]

"That's a good idea, I don't have equipment or expertise for books. Just be discreet with the book." He says looking back at the comlink. "What secrets do you have inside?"

Fixing the comlink was easy work for Clay, uncomplicated machines as they are. Simple devices used to make connections and conversation between people at a distance and almost nothing more. During the check they had some time to scan through the contacts, the call history, but there was little of value there.

Which.. meant it was particularly special that due to how the system started sputtering back to life it began to reconnect to the last call it'd receives.

Just a matter of preparing to talk to whoever might be on the other side...

Raven visibly tensed, like any other sensible person did around an unexpected phone call. Her mouth was pressed into a thin line as she waited to hear a voice on the other side of the connection...

Clay started motioning to Raven, who should speak if there is an answer to the call. Then he set down his tools quietly.

[Meiyokashi]

The communicator connects, the present silence indicating as much. However, there's no voice that immediately comes from the other side of the connection.

Raven answered Clay's gesture by indicating herself. It... felt only right. Right? She had to be the one taking responsibility here. (Manda knows it wasn't Dredgen taking responsibility)

Hearing the call connect, then the followed silence... she found herself tensing up. What if it was Carid? Or Ketsu? Or just some poor random person.

"... Is this Carid?" her jaw felt clench as she got the words out. Inside Raven wanted to be a nervous wreck, but her voice and on the outside, she had that battle-calm over her with steel in her words.

[Meiyokashi]

From the background she could hear a woman's voice, "You owe me a new damn comm," followed by an exasperated groan and audible stomping away.

"The Ithorian's dead, so you're hunting me," the voice came through a little weary, but if she'd taken the chance to speak to Carid while he was there- which was likely at least in passing- she would recognize his voice. "Just a matter of which one you are. So, who is this?"

Raven recognized it. It wasn't a voice she thought she'd recall so lividly, having only half-listened to his speech during the feast, and some brief introduction.

Grabbing the edges of the table to stop herself from grabbing the comlink and accidentally smashing it in her hands, she inhaled deeply. "I'm the one who is going to bring you to justice, coward," she nearly spat the words. "You attacked my family, and you'll pay for it. Tell me where you are."

[Meiyokashi]

"The bride," he sighs. Pausing in the conversation as the sounds of him shifting, armor moving against a surface. "Find me if you can, claim your vengeance if you want, but claiming me a coward- now that's just a low blow. Praxton, and everyone in that enclave claim themselves to be Mando'ade, there's nothing cowardly about my actions only foolish about your own."

"I repaid an old favor, that's it."

[Raven Cadera]

"Ho---" Her temper flared, and she obviously restrained herself from bursting out in rage at the insult levelled at her. Not only her, but everyone else there too.

No... he was clearly a liar. His actions did not reflect the words he had spoken that night. He was clearly a deceitful cur, that had lied only to get closer to hurt them. Praxton's parting words reminded her to stay calm, for now. Or rather, as calm as she could manage.

"I am willing to hear what this favor was about, before I find you and kill you. For I am not without honor."

Clay moved to Raven trying take the comlink from her. "You know I haven't had the code of honor for that long... I could forget for a bit..." He says making sure it was heard on the other side of the signal.

There was a contemplative silence broken by the words, "Good luck," before he disconnected the call.

Silence. Damnit, this led them no closer.

An armored fist slammed into the nearby wall, followed by a stifled grunt. She wanted to shout. She wanted to hurt this man badly. "... Damnit!"

Focus, Raven. Stay focused. For now.

"... Hate to undo your work, Clay, but we should get rid of that comm incase they try to use it to trace our location. No doubt they're doing the same to their own now as we speak."

[Claymore Wren]

"Alright. So, when do I bring a satellite down on him? Maybe drop a lift on him..." He puts his right hand to the chin area. "I can sabotage his speeder too. Or fight fire with fire. Well, poison in this case."

Raven shot him a hard look. "We don't even know where he is, Clay. No doubt he'll be moving locations too if he's not in that stinkin' crater. And don't you dare once more to suggest that I will allow my honor to stoop to his level with such dishonorable tactics."
