Lor'vram [D5, MM. Mando Safehouse

[Raven Cadera]

Raven had spent a good part of the morning to herself, growing further frustrated by her inability to calibrate the energy chamber of her carbine for a stronger beam. It was a serious of mounting frustrations and irritations, and she finally put the weapon away.

Exiting out of the small room she had to herself, Raven moved to the common area they all shared, first observing that things were being kept tidy, then proceeded over to the kitchen they had to start making breakfast, her face locked in an irritated expression. Thankfully it was operational too, as it would've gotten tiresome to live on takeout all these weeks.

The smell of food being cooked probably stirred some of the late sleepers who were still here.

From the refresher a young man exited, Silas as she'd come to learn his name. Tank-top worn over cargo pants he didn't follow anything similar to what the enclave practiced regarding their armor, though it did hang within the safehouse. Pausing to look over at Raven his standard almost muted expression shifted a little, uncertainty, but he settled the thought as he walked forward. Joining over by her in the kitchen he started setting up the caf-machine Dredgen had unearthed from some hole and brought here.

Part of her still wanted to distrust him, though she quelled it, forcing herself to relax her face and muscles. Not being one to move around all the time in her armor either (and cooking in armor wasn't something she terribly enjoy), she was dressed down to the fatigues she wore under the beskar'gam along with a loose shirt.

For those who knew her back at Kamda, it was noticeable that she had gained more muscle mass.

"Morning," she greeted, turning to him and away from the pan on the stove; eggs, veggies, and some sliced meat sizzling there. Like a lot of Mandalorian cooking, it was all made in one pot... or pan in this case.

"Dex up yet?"

"Haven't checked," he glanced back toward her door, using the direction of that motion to turn around and put his back against the counter. Machine behind him starting to do it's thing. Looking to Raven he crossed his arms over his chest, "She's been worrying about the meet- having been the one who encouraged me to set it up and also convince you she's feeling pretty responsible for it. Doesn't seem like she's used to being responsible for people," he glanced down but his eyes opened a little wider, a quick glance, "Oh, and morning," he said with a slight smile.

"Kid takes after me more and more, I feel," Raven chuckled lightly, almost motherly, the thought seeming to put her a little at ease. What precisely it was that Dex was taking after her however she didn't deliberate further.

"It's a good call." One she had said something similar about when she first heard about Silas' situation from Orar. "Was about to walk out there like a giant chrome target myself before running into you two out here... taking the risk of whatever defenses are there." It was a given that the place was defended somehow, even if they had eluded them the last time there.

"... Let me guess though, she got Kagr to fly you two over here?"

"Kagr.. one with the knives, right?" he said, quirking a brow but nodding figuring she was right. "Yea. We spent a bit of time checking out what we could around the enclave but- things got quiet there. Plenty other of your people took off on your leaders command so the most we got was patrols coming in and out, well, also had the twins and your husband laid up in the medbay of course."

"He seems to be doing better, by the way. Seen him standing at least once but they don't let him do it for long."

"The one with the knives, yes," she confirmed. Well, most had knives, but Kagr rather liked his knives more than most.

The mention of Praxton, even if it is technically good news, does visibly dim her fragile good mood. Turning half-way to stir the pan, she masked away some of her feelings.

Concern for him. Shame for her own shortcomings. Anger still boiling underneath it all.

Lowering the heat, Raven looked back to Silas, her jaw set firmly. "You've spoken to him...?" Arms crossed over her chest, she seemed more to be looking through him than at him.

"No," he said, there was that directness to the way he said it that outed him as Mandalore-born. When Raven looked back to him his back was to her, looking to the caf-machine like it had answers he didn't. "Dex did though, I just- I didn't feel right approaching so I hung back. Waited for her to finish her visits. Meant I got a good view of things at times, but mostly I just heard things from Dex."

She watched him for a while, waiting for him to turn around again eventually. The time also gave her the thought process to put aside her own hurt and anger, and to think it through. Praxton she knew well, and how he would've handled it.

"I don't think he would have turned you away, at least not if Dex introduced you," for such a hard-looking woman, Raven sounded surprisingly soft in her tone. "It's not his way. It's... it wasn't just bluster on my behalf, when I said it was his will, when we last spoke." There was a sort of distance to her smile.

"Not that I regret my decision. I've had some time to cool down, and I see in hindsight I may have seemed too harsh to you."

"You did," he admitted willingly, turning and stepping over to find some mugs on the counter nearby. "But, given the time to think, it was understandable you would. Your husband was nearly cut down on your wedding day.. I don't know what that's like, don't wanna. Still, you listened to reason despite it and I'm still standing here. Pretty happy about that," he says, chuckles as he sets down the mugs.

"I... don't wish that experience on anyone. It's one thing to fall in battle, another to be attacked in your own home by someone taking advantage of your hospitality. But as you say, reason won out."

That at least was behind them now, and it did feel like it cleared the air a little.

"But I'm curious of... well, several things. How a warrior your age ended up out here, so far away from your home of Mandalore, why you chose to go to the wedding..." she let the questions sink in as she removed the pan from the stove.

"Well, first, you're not that much older- and you're pretty far away from Mandalore yourself. Figure you've got about as good an idea, and a reason, as I do. For the other bit.. I like knowing my options. Opportunity came up to learn about another option, see if it fit, and I jumped on it. Don't think it's gonna stick though.."

She shrugged at first. "Mandalore wasn't my home." At this point, she had gotten so used to everyone else seeing her someone older than she actually was, placing expectations upon her of sorts.

For the other, she had a feeling Dex was probably probing to change that somehow. "I suppose you didn't get the best first impressions." Who would have, considering what happened after the attack. "What's your opinion of the Raiders and Rebuilders working together though?"

The food from the pan was moved over into clean bowls.

There was a confusion when she mentioned Mandalore wasn't her home but as he listened the realization came to him and he turned his attention to the caf as he poured a mug for himself and glanced to Raven, holding up the pot with the question inherent in the action.

Though while he looked to her he said, "Working together.. it's possible. Others wanting to join together with your band? Might be some, but those of us that were born Mando'ade are tired of the way things have been back home and others were always mercenaries so raiding is more appealing to them. First one leader wants us to put down our arms, the next pushes us against the Republic as tools, and another becoming the dog of the Empire.. it's not been a good streak," she gives a quick shrug.

She gave a nod to the offer of caf. In return she offered a bowl of the food with a gesture to an empty bowl with the spatula in her hand.

"Concord Dawn is a bit less interesting for most Mandalorians compared to the other worlds," her words explained more of what she had meant earlier.

"But yeah, hasn't exactly been good times for a long time. Civil wars, disagreements, divisions... at this point we might be more scattered than we were after the Mandalorian Wars against the Republic. Guess you could say that I'm an idealist that I want things to change for the better for our people perhaps." Her brow furrowed in thought.

"I just don't see the point in accepting that this is the way things are and settle for that."

"Might seem like just accepting things to you but.. Way I see it.." he pours her a mug, searching around the space for the important and common additives. "Which.. maybe is the way others see it right now. Your leader is one who wants to put in a claim but most of the raiders.. they're done listening to people who've told them they know what's best. Some, like the Valkyrie, have lived through it more times than most. Doesn't make all the others claiming the title shine all that special," he shrugs.

"Hey.. maybe they're right and we'll find out someday but," he sets a few things aside, and tends his cup. Pouring in a plenty to make the coffee a bit lighter than most peoples taste, "but right now the Raiders have decided we're gonna call our own shots. No one with us wants to pretend we might be the next Mand'alor to lead our people, we know we're not cut out for it. But.. come together as warriors, hit the Empire where it hurts when and where we can?" he grins, "It's fun, and it feels good."

Simple piracy and banditry really it seemed to her. Which had been her impression of it before the wedding. There seemed to be little to put them apart as true Mandalorians.

Raven idly wondered if Mandalore the Preserver had also faced these doubts thousands of years ago when he had first claimed the title, meanwhile her hands were busy filling the bowls with food. If Dex was awake, hopefully the smell of a warm meal would summon her. Though for Raven's sake it was mostly because she had wanted to hear more on how Praxton was doing... a pretty selfish thought these days, all things considered, when she felt she had made such poor progress.

"We'll find out some day. For now, food's warm and so is the caf - let's handle that first."

There was that strict nod, one born from a life raised as a warrior. "I'll make the rounds," he lifted his mug and walked through the safehouse. Knocking on doors to wake those who were still inside and letting that alone be the message that breakfast was ready.

Dredgen was the first to exit, a big almost-roar of a yawn as he walked from his room scratching his bearded chin. Was getting a little unkempt, probably due for a shave. Walking through the open space he walked to the kitchen and seemed more keen on appraising how things had been done than rushing toward breakfast.

Dex was next, but instead of a yawn alerting everyone there was a slap. Silas standing there with a bemused expression as he nursed his cheek. "Looked it up?" he asked, and she just glared angrily. "Looked it up," he confirmed for himself, sipped his caf, and made the long walk around the outside of the room.

Wearing a gray tank-top and shorts she caught a whiff of breakfast and lazily walked over the couch which was between her and the food.

"Mornin'," she gave a lazy wave as she came into the space, grabbing at things haphazardly.

The food was nothing fancy, but it was filling and hearty. Something that was best prepared over a campfire rather than a stove, where everything was just put into one pan. Local vegetables, normally with rice or something similar but adjusting for what was available it had been replaced with a starchy vegetable, slices of meat, and eggs. And of course, it was spicy. (Mandalorian bibimbap? )

Raven wasn't planning on waiting for a rating from Dredgen as she handed him the food, was about to say something, then was interrupted by the sound of a slap.

Well, hard to not be curious.

"Morning. Everything alright?" She just had to ask, in that very familial tone.

"Oh- yea," she shrugs, giving a glance back over her shoulder. "He's just-" she looks back to Raven, catching a memory, and then smiles. "Nah just don't worry about it. We're cool, it's cool," she smirks, and then brushes past a little as she gets into the kitchen and finds herself a bowl. Jabbing her fingers into the bowl and pulling out something hot, and barely getting a bite into her mouth before she drops it. Waving her hand off to the side to cool it down.

"Morning," she half-said and half-chewed as stepped just a little way to make room for people. "And thanks," she says with a swallow.
