[EE D4] New Friends (Invitation)

With Solorks exit the room remained quiet for a few minutes as eyes rested on Cartess. Given those minutes to meditate on what transpired she calmed significantly. All the while Kira watched her with a look of concern but- nothing was voiced and no moves were made to interrupt.

"I'm sorry.. I'm not certain for the exact purposes you came here but- if there is something you would ask of me, or need from me, I will.. try to provide," she cast a glance first to Zim and then to the droid with her eyes growing a bit skeptical with the second.

[The SCaT Droid]

"I believe that with certain paradigm shifts, our goals are potentially aligned. I understand how little you trust my kind, and deservedly so, but as an symbol of my good intentions, I am willing to undergo whatever inquiries, questions or hacking, you desire so long as I get to retain my sapience in the end."

[Cartess Kenotte]

"And your goals are?" she asked, uncertain and with a quirked brow.

[The SCaT Droid]

"To maintain the spirit of the people of the CIS, and thus fulfill my primary directives I plan to: end the practice of slavery against sapients, ensure equal rights of all citizens of the outer rim, and destroy corruption right at its source by working to end the life of Sheev Palpatine. But I recognize it is impossible to do all this without the help of the Jedi."

[Cartess Kenotte]

"I'm sorry but, I can't help you."

[The SCaT Droid]

"Can I get an elaboration, I understand these are hefty goals that weren't even able to be accomplished back when the Jedi were at full strength, but I would think this is a goal worthy of being pursued even if it were impossible. "

[Cartess Kenotte]

"You understand all you need to then. You cite our common goals are hefty ones that were not even accomplished by the Jedi at the height of our power. A lone knight with a few friends has no hope correcting that, and even if I did- you are a B1 unit with far greater information than any droid of your make I have ever witnessed.. it's strange, and I don't trust it. I will not risk leading those closest to me into a trap."

"Perhaps we have shared purpose in seeing the galaxy a better place once more but- it is not a purpose that has us sharing the same path," she spoke with a voice that was calm and measured, a relic of her Jedi training.

[The SCaT Droid]

"Very well then, I understand that concern. It may not be the exact path I am to follow as well, but when my path touches that of the chosen one, I aim to help whoever it is all the way to my end. The reason I am not like any b1 you've ever seen before is because I have gone the longest without deletion of my memories of my kind. With that comes sapience, with sapience I gain scepticism, with skepticism I can review my path, and by doing that I can correct it. "

[Cartess Kenotte]

"For many more reasons than that.. but I hope that you find something of peace in this galaxy," she says on a somber note.

[The SCaT Droid]

Noticing the somber note when she said this, SCaT thinks about his next words carefully before speaking. "Do you mind if I ask you a question now, master Cartess?"

[Cartess Kenotte]

"You may," she allows.

[The SCaT Droid]

"How many rights were the clones denied during the war?"

[Cartess Kenotte]

"I do not know. They were my brothers in arms. We fought side by side, and sacrificed much for one another. I cared for and trusted them. In the end, they killed my Master and hunted me through the deserts of Kamda until I collapsed from exhaustion."

[The SCaT Droid]

"Did they at least have the right to choose to leave if they wanted, assuming they followed a contract they signed while mature enough to understand them, and were compensated for their work?"

[Cartess Kenotte]

"I wouldn't know," she repeats, "And I don't see what you are hoping to gain from me," she says, her brow furrowing as the looked to the droid. With Kira off to the side she shifted a bit uncomfortably.

[The SCaT Droid]

"I have a theory, but I need to know some information from both sides of the war. I assume you know how General Grievous acted, so why would any CIS citizen permit it? They either had an incentive to do so, such as with the Banking Clan and the Techno Union, or they didn't know at all. What I've learned about the CIS governance is that there were 2 councils, one which handled civil matters and one that handled military. All of our soldiers were droids who didn't matter to its citizens, and all of yours were clones. I also know there are still clones alive today, so they had to have time to grow. Therefore, there is a possibility this war was planned to be a perpetual war."

[Zimrzala Skalirz]

It takes a while for what happened to sink in, but after some time the Mikkian finally nodded to Cartess, silently for now.

The Droid seemed to have many questions, so she kept hearing their exchange with Solork's now former master quietly.

The last words about a possibly eternal war brought a bit of a frown to the girl's brow, but she still didn't say anything for now.

[Cartess Kenotte]

"I'm sorry, but if that's what you hoped for my help with you will find none of it here. My focus is on the present and those that are still with me," she says, looking to Zim for a moment and sighing heavily. "So please, if that's all you're here for I ask you seek your answers elsewhere."

[The SCaT Droid]

"I do have questions about the future, but I doubt you would share the knowledge of how to measure the force with one outside your order, and I doubt you have heard of any droids who are part of it."

[Zimrzala Skalirz]

"I'm sorry, but if that's what you hoped for my help with you will find none of it here. My focus is on the present and those that are still with me," she says, looking to Zim for a moment and sighing heavily. "So please, if that's all you're here for I ask you seek your answers elsewhere."

After the conversation with SCaT is finally done, Zimrzala nods to Cartess again. "Dear Miss Cartess", she says this time "I... may have questions, in fact". After Solork left, she knew she had at least some, but she felt it would be no use asking them here. "But... I feel I'm asking for more questions, rather than for answers. I... trust you may have some for me, now or at another time?"
