D5 LE: Just Walking Around Officer

[The SCaT Droid]

SCaT was wandering around town for various parts before his work tonight: rough metal bits here, tiny trinkets of the CIS days, and various tiny winches. Yes indeed, SCaT will have a productive night this day.

[Tenzing]

You really had to walk the streets if you wanted to know a city. Even though he was no longer officially involved in law enforcement Tenzing still kept to some of his old routines. He could almost tell which street he was on by feel alone.

So it was surprising when the old battle senses started tingling. Did someone whisper Roger, roger on the breeze?

Nope. It was just that curious old droid from a few weeks back. It hadn't called down a squad of droidekas on his friends, yet, so it seemed like it probably was on their side. He approached.

"Hey there. Been a while. You get settled in okay?"

[The SCaT Droid]

"Yes sir, found a cozy closet that didn't have too many cobwebs. Figured I would take a look at the one thing I haven't checked out this week."

[Tenzing]

"Glad you found a place to hang your hat." Tenzing gave the droid a slightly amused, or possibly skeptical, smile. "Oh yeah? The one thing? And what would that be?"

[The SCaT Droid]

"This motel here, kinda didn't have a need to be here, why sleep somewhere and spend creds when I can sleep somewhere else and not? But there is always that little bit of information that you just have to have."

[Tenzing]

"Well that's true enough. Never know where that extra clue is gonna lead you." He walked up next to the droid. It was a bit odd be doing so without both pistols in hand, but change was a constant.

"So, what were you looking for, and did you find it?"

[The SCaT Droid]

"Not for anything in particular yet, just making sure I know the layout of the city before I need to know it and don't. There's talk of a bunch of troublemakers coming around, and I don't plan on being in their crosshairs without my knowing it."

[Tenzing]

"Well, never hurts to know your way around a new place." He looked at the street. "This part of town's usually fine. 'Course the Empire might be a problem soon if you like walking around after curfew. Is that what you meant, or is there other trouble brewing?"

Tenzing hadn't heard of any gang trouble up here. Lower City had a Gonk problem, but things in the Middle had been okay lately.

[The SCaT Droid]

"Well, when people hear there are problems starting soon and they don't know who from, they look for the source. Sadly, not every person has the discipline of an officer, so they don't dig deep enough and just see the chassis. I'm not stupid, I know the programming inside doesn't stop the pain of others."

[Tenzing]

That seemed rather philosophical for a droid. "I see... I think. Well then, want to walk with me and find out about the word on the street?" He shrugged and stuck his hands in his pockets. There were plenty of people he could ask.

[The SCaT Droid]

"That sounds like a good idea, lead the way." Of course the droid might be able to find a criminal element or two on his own, but it is smarter to have a little back up wherever you go.

[Tenzing]

"Sure thing pal." They walked through the streets of the Mid Town looking for the sorts of people who didn't mind talking to a former cop and his new droid friend.

"So, what's your story anyway?"

[The SCaT Droid]

SCaT takes his hat off to show the broken antennae underneath. "Last mission in the war was salvage, but one of the fighters I was bringing back had a broken canopy. I fell out and avoided the crash, and because my planetary comms broke, everyone thought I was destroyed with it."

[The SCaT Droid]

"That gave me enough time to gain sapience, and with news of General Grevious dying to Obi-Wan, I knew I had to get away or I would get scrapped. I found various ways to get around and learn about the galaxy I am in, and then I heard about the events on Kamda 10 years later. I knew that someone important had to help out there, and I came here to find them."

[Tenzing]

SCaT takes his hat off to show the broken antennae underneath. "Last mission in the war was salvage, but one of the fighters I was bringing back had a broken canopy. I fell out and avoided the crash, and because my planetary comms broke, everyone thought I was destroyed with it."

Tenzing nodded. "Huh, sounds like a lucky escape. Did you have to fight in the war, or just salvage ops?"

The rest of the droid's story merited a raised eyebrow. "Riiiiiight. Anyway, what was so important about Kamda, and why did you end up here?"

[The SCaT Droid]

"Oh I was on the frontlines for a while, just usually in a supporting role. The reserves in the first battle of geonosis, forward scout on Toydaria, then worked as a mechanic for like half the war." The droid then took a second to look around and make sure there weren't anyone looking their way before whispering, "oh come on officer, surely you've heard about the downed star destroyer there. Who do you think could possibly have done that in such a short time. They went from a planet where there wasn't much resistance to practically a military threat."

[Tenzing]

Well the stuff about the war made a lot of sense snd he nodded along. He chuckled on hearing the sounds of 'Come on officer' from the droid. "No offense pal, but a B1 searching the galaxy for the group who took down a Star Destroyer? That's quite the story, and I've heard all sorts." Maybe someone had planted the story in the droid's memory, which was interesting in itself.

"One's a start, sure. The Empire has plenty more Star Destroyers unfortunately."

[The SCaT Droid]

"Yes, and I came here to do my part. Now since I've given you my story, would you mind sharing yours?"

[Tenzing]

Maybe the unlikely duo would find something? They chatted to various of Tenzing's contacts as they walked the streets.

In between questions he spoke about his life. "Well as you can tell I was raised to fight in the Clone Wars. Fought a lot of droids on a lot of worlds." He shrugged. "I took a posting here. Didn't like what went down. Came back after it was over to try to put things right."

[The SCaT Droid]

"That confirms my suspicions. Would you mind if I asked you some questions about what it was like as a clone?"
