(D5, LM) Bothan Scout Cookies?

Leaning back against the counter, Dhel laughs. "You're fine, wiry, whatever. And yeah, quite a few old partners like...just moved on or whatever over the years. Some...ehhh...maybe weren't so happy with things? But they're mostly just...not around lately, so that's not been an issue."

She starts to reach for another cookie, mentally tallies how many she's already had, including earlier 'quality control' and picks up her milk instead. Being an adult meant not subsisting on cookies *all* day. Probably. But that last bit gives her pause.

"Hmm..does that mean you've got some kind of trouble? Or...had?"

Manny on the other hand, cheerfully takes another cookie. "These are great!" He said, taking a bite.

He chewed slowly. "Had. Have. A little of both. I talked a little about Vex before. I did some jobs for her. Now that I, y'know, have some stuff, she thinks that I owe her for helping make it happen." He waved around with his cookie. "I don't think so, but, well, she can make trouble, even off of Kamda."

His brows drew down. "Thinks she owns Leah, too. I mean actually owns, like a slave or something." He bit his cookie fiercely. "Really good cookie." He murmured.

"Owns? That's just wrong." Dhel wrinkles her nose in utter distaste, "I know that they do that in parts of the galaxy. Not here, though. Is that a thing on Kamda?"

She looks around at the ship. "I mean, if she hired you and paid you because you did the jobs, I don't see what else you owe. That doesn't make any sense. Like...you're lucky I picked _you_to do those jobs?" Her lips press together. "um...ok. so at some point, I'd like a quick review of people I probably shouldn't open the door for, if you know what I mean? Since I don't know what any of those folks look like and don't want to let someone just waltz on who thinks they're her to repossess Leah or something."

[Manny Donos]

"I mean, no, but also yes." Manny said, frowning and scratching his head. "Like, slavery is illegal. But it still happens. And this is more of the 'hey, you owe me a bunch of money, so you have to work for me to pay it off' sort of owning."

"Right? It makes no sense!" Manny shrugged. "Anyway... it might be better to say who you can let onto the ship. Anyone who watched Wookie Teras Kasi Master with us should be fine. Jyr. Uh... anyone I've talked about and sounded cool. Anyone who was at that meeting we met at, or someone like them. Oh, and anyone you like! I mean, you can invite people too if you want!" Manny smiled brightly at her.

"Maybe not that robot, though." Manny said frowning. "I don't think Sholua liked that."

"Oh, yeah. That work to pay it off thing is why I kinda prefer if folks want to trade in like...meals and a room. And some of them still seem to think they're owed enough from that to act like they own you. Kinda had to work my way back here from Kamda recently on account of something a bit like that." Dhel nods, finishing her milk.

And then listening to a bewildering list, eyes getting a bit wide. "That's...a big list. And you're telling me that's easier than the folks not to let on? How many people work for this Vex then?" She's not even getting into the droid that Sholua didn't like, but Phroth did...because that was another layer of confusion.

"Yeah?" Manny said, eyebrows going up. "That's right, I remember you said you were on Kamda. What was the deal with that?"

He grinned. "I guess I have more friends than I thought. Awesome!" He paused a few moments, basking in the warmth of his friendships, before finishing off his cookie. "Ummm... well, Vex is a crime boss. She's always getting people to work for her. So, just about anyone who does the bad kinds of crime could be working for her. You know, contract stuff."

"OK, so I think I'm just going with 'nobody I don't recognize,' as a rule. This Jyr person's gonna have to get you on the com or something till I know what they look like." That seems the most sensible option to cut through the confusion. "But," she grins, "yeah, you do seem to have a lot of friends."

"So the deal with getting stuck on Kamda..." she pauses. "You know that's gonna take a while, let's sit someplace comfortable, and I'll fill you in, because I'm bad at telling this one short." She pushes off from the counter, heading out to find a comfy couch to sprawl on.
