Re: [D5 MA] Flower Picking of the Damned
The creature was kind enough to deliver itself to Deonis who stepped in with a lethal calm and wielded the large vibro weapon like a scalpel thrusting the blade deep into the creature. Knowing nothing of the creature's physiology he couldn't be sure if the blow was lethal but it certainly had to hurt.

Re: [D5 MA] Flower Picking of the Damned
It's a damn good hit. The green blood of the creature begins to pour out, but it still up. You think you hit a artery, Deonis, though it's honestly hard to tell with the way this thing looks. It's too much of a mess to really figure out. It is bleeding a lot, though, so that is a good sign.
Tyllia, in the meantime, makes a move to attack the creature while it is distracted! She does some fancy moves with her staff and connects with a powerful hit...that does absolutely nothing to the thing.
It was time to consider her options.
I smack it with my stick!: 1eP+3eA+1eB+2eD 2 successes, 1 advantage
In the meantime, noises begin to move around you, as more "branches" begin to shake around.

Enemy is Short for distance to all PCs except Deonis and Tyllia, who are engaged.

Clearly a fatal blow. However...
"Rathtars are pack hunters!" she exclaimed as the branches began to rustle.
And not very smart ones, either. Not enough self-preservation or reasoning to back down. Coming in and killing an apex predator can do a number on an ecosystem, but an entire pack... still, better than being eaten.
She opened her mind to the ecosystem. To the interconnected life of the swamp. To the Force. It was just a shame it was to determine just how many lives they were about to be snuffed out.
"Mando! Inbound!" She may never have been a combatant, but at least Aanli remembered how to be a lookout and give a firing solution.
D5 MA Force Sense: 1eF 1 Light Side
That's 1 light on Force sense to... well... sense. Living things in short range. I'm sure this is not a bad idea.
Also, Assist maneuver to give J-Richo a blue.

You don't get much of a chance to respond to her comment, when the next Rathtar appear running towards you all, charging at eager abandon.
The good doctor senses the life force of...your companions! They are, indeed, living beings. Of course, as you do this, you feel a cold shiver all around you and a strange feeling like you just dumped some oil on water; it's repelling off of each other.
The Rathar gets close to the armored non-Mando, while not hitting him, it does use the tentacles

Re: [D5 MA] Flower Picking of the Damned
If it had just been the one, she could have feigned incompetence. Could've just kept trying to hit it with that damned old stick of hers; to no avail; and let the others deal with it. Nobody; but one; would know what power she now wielded. But a pack? That was different. That was a serious enough threat that she had to make a decision that could change everything.
In an instant she dropped the stick and pulled out the ancient lightsaber and turned it on.
The distinctive hum and red glow lit up her surroundings, her opening grip on the weapon that of the reverse Shien style as she whirled it around in a display of core competency, hopefully finishing off the creature when she struck.
But sure enough, she had tried to adjust the grip to her preferences before and failed to bring herself to do it. It was setting her back. Making things more difficult.

Re: [D5 MA] Flower Picking of the Damned
Well, that's something you probably didn't expect out of Tyilla! So much so, poor J-Richo Toboga lost his concentration on his upcoming attack! (Despair spent to upgrade next attack for Toboga)
And with that, the last of the Rathar's (that you can tell) come charging into you all, also ready to do their tentacle thing at Toboga. It gives a solid hit against him, but fails to get a good hold on him.
Meanwhile, the rage of the dying Rathar, too stupid to realize it's already dead from that hit of the lightsaber, not to mention the blade, attempts to give one last chomp at his tasty armored meal. Connecting, it sinks its teeth into Deonis as it slowly slumps down, writhing its tentacles around to impede your movement as it slowly begins to close its eyes for the last time.

PC's are Go!
Rathar #2 is Close to Toboga, Rathar #1 is Engaged to Deonis and Tyllia, close to #3.

With a final strike, the creature falls dead, its corpse weighing down on Deonis heavily, as he gets covered in its green blood. Now to worry about the other two! Meanwhile, Toboga properly dakka's the ugly creature, with that one actually hurting quite a bit.

Tyllia did a super cool totally badass flip as she closed the distance between herself and one of the beasts. The red glowy stick of death went vwoooombrrrrrr through the air and was dragged in a wide line across the beast's side...
...which unfortunately was actually just a glancing strike searing some useless calloused flesh. Didn't even hurt it.
But it looked *totally* badass enough to inspire the team into being their absolute best!

The creature roars loudly, making a large chomp against Tyllia! It missed...or so she thought, as she tripped over its tenticles and fell to the ground, wrapping one of them around her leg, keeping her from going, the next strike against her was primed and ready for a much more concentrated strike!

''That's not good'' the mando stayed cool and raise the rifle at the beast in front of him but instead of shooting it he unleashed a barrage on the nearby roots and soil blowing them in the air and offering enough of a distraction for the other armored man to move to help Tyllia.

Re: [D5 MA] Flower Picking of the Damned
The other living Rathar makes a move to finally close the gap between itself and the Mandalorian. Using those tentacles, it impedes his escape and attempts to attack him, then starts moving into close range to strike him with its teeth. Clearly, the distraction worked!
A little too well, in fact.
The Rathar doesn't connect, but it smacks your gun out of your hand as it moves up closer to attack you in the coming round, thus giving a small boost of confidence to the other Rathar's attack.
~~
Attacking, then maneuver spent to move into Engaged with Toboga. Extra Maneuver done to activate Grapple (2 Strain)
Rathar Gets a Little Personal with the Mando: 2eP+3eA+2eD 0 successes, 5 advantage
Three advantages spent to knock Toboga's gun out of his hand. 2 Advantages spent to give the next a boost die.
(Until the beginning of the character’s next turn, enemies must spend two maneuvers instead of one to move from Engaged range to Short range of the character.)

The mando can take care of themselves and Tyllia seemed in more trouble. Deonis charged in to help but between dodging the tentacles and trying to not hit Tyllia Deonis couldn't get a good hit in. Though he cause commotion that could create opportunity for his allies, and the Rathar.

Aanli's eyes went wide as the rathtars closed, but she held her ground. They had another target. Trying to get away would just trigger predatory reflexes.
Instead, she took her tiny little pea shooter and pewed out blue rings at this or that next tentacle trying to get at J-Richo, trying to buy him enough space to retrieve his weapon and defend both of them. Or at least buy both of them time for Deonis and apparently a surviving padawan to lend a hand. That was going to be a conversation.
((I am NOT rolling because trying to shoot this thing would on average make things worse. Instead, taking two strain to double assist, giving J-Richo 2 boosts on his next roll.))

She though she had evaded the attack; only to be dangling in the air upside down a second later. Not that it seemed to cause her to skip a beat; though, despite the sudden confusing shift in orientation she managed to get a solid blow in before untangling herself, she was still within immediate striking range of the creature and not able to get out of harm's way right away, but at least she wasn't upside down anymore.

Tyllia takes a big swipe at the lumbering mound of flesh before her, slashing off several important-looking tentacles in the process. How were they important? Well, now it can't move so good no more. That's pretty important!
But, it was still meal time for the Rathar and took a big chomp out of the lightsaber girl. Man, did it hurt! Though, the grip it held was loosened from the experience and she could find herself able to move again, though still somewhat unable to escape its range so easily. She was, however, quite disoriented from the attack, unable to find the proper encouragement to regain her senses.

The beast keeps trying to get a grip on J-Richo, and Aanli keeps popping off blue rings at limbs, more inconveniencing the creature than anything else.
((Taking my turn now to keep things moving. Two more assists for J-Richo, bringing him up to 4 boosts from my assists. Action for second maneuver, which was an option last turn, too, so I didn't take strain that turn either.))
